Scene Ten

En woke up, her eyes tried to adjust to the dark, but to no avail. Due to them being inside of the building where rooms seemed to be built inside one of another like a maze, there was no telling what the actual time was. The blanket kept her very warm and now it seemed to be too warm for her, so she slid it off a bit to the side and cuddled her pillow. It seemed that Seripa has yet to be awake, but En dared not to disturb her slumber.

She then remembered what happened to her tail as she sat up, she could no longer feel the pain that was so unbearable before the cast got put on, in fact, the fur that was trapped underneath the layers of tape and fibreglass made the skin surface feel very itchy and overheated that the more she thought about it, the more it bothered her. If there is only a way of getting this thing off without waking her, she thought to herself. She tried gnawing on the cast and digging it furiously with her nails, but the damned thing would not come off. She could hear Seripa stir in the bunk under hers, that was close, she thought. She then thought about the encounter with Bardock yesterday, who seemed to throw punches and kicks to whoever rubbed him the wrong way, but never without a valid reason. So I can't use my tail as a weapon huh, she thought, the idea of having to wrap her appendage around and almost denying its existence was a weird concept to her, but she definitely did not want to be in that situation again. Then she had a wild idea.

En focussed her energy on her right palm without letting it combust, very slowly and very carefully, and brought her plastered tail near the edge of the power source, and was ecstatic to see the edge starting to slowly burn away the heavily applied layers. She was so focussed that she didn't notice that Seripa had already got up and yelled at her in bewilderment.

"Kid what are you doing?!!!"

En lost focus and accidentally let go of the energy ball and it combusted in the air between her and Seripa, who got knocked back into the wall behind her. En quickly sat up from the impact that had knocked her over and leaned outwards to see how Seripa was.

"Sorry! I was just trying to take my cast off!"

"We don't take casts off that way you idiot! Do you realised that you could've burned or even worse, lose your tail?!!"

"But it was really itchy!"

"I don't want to hear anymore of this!"

Just then the alarm went off from the scouter that was placed on the small counter beside Seripa's concaved bunk.

"Great, you made me wake up before it was even time to get up, come on kid." Grumbled Seripa as she picked up the scouter, pressed the button on its side before putting it on her ear.

"What's the time now?"

"0430, we're going to grab something to eat before we meet up with Bardock and Toma, now come on we dont' have much time."

Feeding before you get to work? This concept was very foreign to En, but the idea delighted her so much that she had to hold herself back from racing before Seripa to the cafeteria. They ate with lightning speed and had a quick wash up (which again, was all very new to En) before they went back to the meeting room, where Seripa got rid of En's cast with a few sharp instruments. En was very happy to be fed and having her tail in one piece again, she wagged it around very happily before being stared down by Seripa, who then made her wrap it around her waist properly.

"Will I ever get to unwind it again?"

"Only if you are absolutely sure that you're safe."

"But it's sore already, can't I release it when I'm around you guys?"

"You can't expect your teammates to watch out for every single little thing, you'll only drag yourself and the rest of the team down."

En was about to pout but then Bardock and Toma entered the room.

"Hey Seripa, you guys are early." Said Toma, who obviously had a good feed before coming here as well, his expression satisfied.

"Little brat here tried to take off the cast with her energy ball, damn thing knocked me back."

"Haha Seripa you're losing your edge."

"Shut up Toma!"

"Quiet. Let's get started." Commanded Bardock, impatient to the little spats between the two.

"Listen team, we only have a week before we get deployed again, but that doesn't mean we can slack off completely before the next mission, Seripa and Toma, you two will train against each other, En will be trained by me."

What?! En stared at Bardock in disbelief, at the same time grateful that he was not looking her way. One on one with him? No way!

"Finally! Well kid, see you at the end of the day, come on Toma, I bet I can kick your ass this time, loser gets to clean the armours!"

"That's what you think!"

The two exited through the door and the door closed behind him. The further away the footsteps sounded the more nervous En thought. She felt disappointed that Seripa did not even look back when she left.

"En."

"What?" She responded defiantly.

"Come, we need to head to the training room." Said Bardock.

En followed a resentful distance behind him as he lead her through the hallway again, today it was filled with even more Saiyans making it feel very cluttered in the sealed off space, and En had to try her best to not pay any attention to the gossipping whispers that travelled too effortlessly, bouncing off the walls, across the floor and into her ears.

"Hey Bardock! I always knew you prefer the young ones but I this one hasn't even got hair on her muffin yet!" Yelled an obnoxious Saiyan man, eliciting a wave of guffawing laughter across the hallway, but Bardock and En kept on walking.

"So what's up, you sick of Seripa already?" Pestered the young man.

Bardock kept on ignoring the vulgar crowd and finally made it into the training room.

The room was brightly lit and the floor was of a dark, brownish red, the ceiling so high and painted light blue that En could have sworn that they were outside if it were not for the soft sound made from the fans of the air conditioner. She could not believe they were in the same building, even the sound resonated so well that with each time they talked it echoes across the room.

Bardock turned around to see a very aggravated En.

"En."

"What?"

"Try hitting me."

"It's not fair."

"What?" He looked aloof. With her anger finally taking over her, En could not take it anymore and screamed at him at the top of her lungs.

"Why didn't you tell them the truth?!!! Why did you let them think what I am to you when I am not?! If I mattered so much to you then why didn't you fight for me there!!!"

Bardock just threw his head back and laughed, to En's astonishment, before he replied with a smirk.

"So you think you matter so much to me that I have to fight every single of your little battles for you, is that it?"

En could not reply with a good come back, so out of rage, she dashed towards Bardock in a ball of fury and released a punch aiming for his nose, to which Bardock grabbed it with ease and flipped her in midair then retraining her on the floor with a choke hold. En struggled to breath as she kicked about, still with rage in her eyes, then Bardock released her and flew up in midair.

"You can't even land a punch on me, how pathetic is that? Try hitting me with one of your blasts then, since it seems to be the only thing that you're good at apart from being hit!"

En jumped up and randomly shot as many energy blasts as she could towards Bardock, which he dodged every single one of them with ease, mocking her each time he did. After exhausting herself with excessive use of energy blasts, En found it hard to stand up straight after shooting about 20 of them. She began to feel sick and the muscles in her arms started to rebel from all the sudden movements. Bardock then swiftly attacked from above and kicked her across the floor of the room. The friction was too much to bear as the impact was so great, if it were not for the protective gloves and boots as well as the spandex, En was sure her skin would be raw by then. She struggled to stand up, with her hand massaging her back, where she was kicked. She looked up, and there he was, in the air again.

As soon as she realised it, he began pelting her down with hailstorm of explosive energy blasts, causing her to dart around frantically, she had no tactic and no experience at the time that it was not long before one of Bardocks' attacks finally hit her across the face, sending her tumbling across the floor again. En tried to stand up, she then felt something drip from her face, she wiped it across with the back of her gloved hand and saw there was a streak of ruby smear, standing out like a stigma from the pure whiteness. The red burned into her eyes like a hot iron, stirring up a volcanic rage inside her.

"Ha! Pathetic! I guess I was wrong to say you had any potential in the first place!" Taunted Bardock as he threw another energy blast towards En.

Remaining where she was, En threw her arm across in front of her and swung the blast to the other side of the room, causing it to diminish with a combustion on the wall, ringing across the ginormous room in a sea of echoes. Bardock remained where he was as well, intrigued by this new development. She looked up to him shooting daggers from her eyes, her fists clenched, her canines exposed. Haha, how you going to get up here kid, you can't even fly yet, thought Bardock to himself. He saw En positioning herself in a very weird manner, almost like squatting, both of her palms firmly on the floor, she looked up and down several times, repositioning the angle she was at. What the Hell is she doing? Thought Bardock, as soon as he questioned it to himself, En shot herself up in the air with the energy blast below her and met him eye to eye. Before Bardock could to anything she landed a swift but weak kick in his face before being pulled down by the gravity. She landed with both feet, experiencing nasty ground shock, when she looked up again she saw Bardock towering over her.

Without holding back she began a furious assault of a flurry of punches, attacking madly at him, which he dodged with ease, there were a lot of opening in her attacks so it was only a matter of time when Bardock snuck in closer and elbowed her in the collarbone, pushing En to land on her back again, then she jumped up and charged at him like a maniac.

"That's enough for today." Said Bardock, standing there confidently with his arms crossed, there was so much boredom in his voice that En stopped in midtrack and just stood there in disbelief.

"You punch worse than a drunken scum in a bar fight, come at me when you learn how to punch properly. I'm off to train with some real warriors now." Said Bardock, he turned around and left a very disgruntled En alone in the training room.
