Roy felt horrible. His mind was frazzled by the news surrounding Parker’s death, and then after sitting down and listening to Rush and Riza, how someone (Envy?) had caused their break-up. He opted not to go to Parker’s funeral, mostly because he felt responsible for her death. He appreciated that she didn’t tell Envy where to find Edward, because there would have certainly been a fight to the death to protect his family. Even though Parker was dead, he still felt like the laws of science weren’t on his side. The equation didn’t balance, his life was restored, but so many others had been taken. He felt owed, and he felt jaded. He and Edward had not been intimate since hearing of Parker’s death, which was five days ago and passing. They both figured the other wanted to be left alone.
When Roy returned to work a week after Parker’s funeral, he had an unexpected guest in his office. He opened the door, surprised to find Hughes and General Haruko in his office, chatting and eating donuts. Roy immediately saluted his superior and greeted him. Haruko nodded and gestured to Roy’s office chair. Hughes grinned at Roy as he sat down. “So gentlemen, what brings you to my humble abode?” Roy asked as pleasantly as possible. He liked Haruko, but he felt the general didn’t do enough for the state or its citizens. Haruko nodded and looked at Hughes. “Your friend here tells me you’re about to get married,” Haruko said, turning back to Roy. Roy’s chin hit his desk. Hughes knew that same sex marriages were so not legal, and the fact that they were in the military didn’t help. He may as well have had them publicly hung. Not that Roy was ashamed of Ed, that’s just the way the rules were. “Well, do I know who it is, Mustang?” Haruko pressed, wary of Roy’s silence. Hughes prodded Roy. “Everyone knows, Colonel. Trust me, I wouldn’t have brought him here if he disagreed,” Hughes added, attempting to smooth over the situation. Truthfully, Roy could give a flying fuck what any of the military thought, but then too he also wanted to give Ed a real wedding, not just some cheap shot ceremony by an unaccredited priest.
“It’s Edward Elric,” Roy finally mumbled after contemplating lying and saying he and Riza were going to get hitched. Haruko nodded and smiled. “I remember him. He’s a nice young man, with valor and courage to spare. My wife fell in love with him after he saved us all on that train.” “Yep, he sure did!” Hughes added enthusiastically. He shrunk in his seat when the two men stared at him like he was slow.
“Anyway,” Haruko continued, “Hughes here tells me you want to marry Edward. You do realize that’s against policy for a higher ranking official to marry a subordinate, right?” Roy nodded sadly, and then stopped. “Is there not a policy against...same sex marriages?” he asked, the hope in his voice obvious. Haruko smiled and pulled out an old dusty book from his leather satchel. “Let’s see here...in section 24-8, paragraph five, sentence three, it so states that ‘...anyone of either general or Fuehrer status may approve or disapprove of a joining of unions, ie. marriage. In times of war or commercial strife, a marriage may be enacted in order to transfer goods, property, or assets to another trusted individual at the original owner’s discretion. Rank, and or sexual gender are not to be considered by the general or Fuehrer of the state from allowance or disallowance of union in question. Consummation of the marriage is also at the discretion of the individuals involved.” Haruko closed the book and smiled at Roy. “Are we not constantly at war? And am I not a General?” he asked, standing and putting the book back in his satchel.
Roy stood to walk Haruko to the door. “What do I owe you for this favor?” he asked in a low voice. Haruko smiled. “Edward saved my family. He could have easily gotten himself and his brother off the train and left us all to be killed by Bald. If this marriage is what he wants, then I’ll gladly sign on. This is for him Mustang, not for you.” Haruko stared deep into Roy’s eyes, then shook the flustered man’s hand and walked down the hall to his own office. Roy closed the door gently and fell against it, sagging to the floor. Hughes turned around and gave him a thumbs up. “I knew he would allow it. So have you asked him yet?” he drilled, walking over to poke a Roy with a pencil. Roy stared at his desk, unable to believe that he and Ed could actually be married. The thought was nice to play around with, but once reality set in, he would always keep himself from going through with it. The last thing he ever wanted to do was to set himself and Edward up for heartbreak.
Roy numbly shook his head. Hughes sighed and offered him both hands to help him up. The two men stood and faced each other, then Hughes opened his arms and embraced Roy. “Parker is gone. Ed is alive. Make a move before there’s no move to make,” Hughes whispered in his friend’s ear. Then he kissed Roy’s cheek very affectionately and left the office. Roy touched his cheek where Hughes kissed him and sighed. He shared an extremely deep bond with the man, and would be lost without him.
They never shared any sexual moments, but very intimate moments; some leading to kisses on the cheek, like the one they just had. Kisses on the lips would mean too much, and once when Maes did kiss him, it wasn’t out of desire, but more a test to see how true he was to Ed. The only other person who could touch his heart the way Hughes did was Edward. Deep down inside he hated himself. He never truly loved Parker. He just wanted someone, a woman to stand by him and make him appear a family man so his ascension to Fuehrer would be a smoother transition. After they broke up, he realized how much time he had wasted and even thought of committing suicide. Then he met Edward Elrich. At first, he was amused and at times perturbed by the short blond. But after time passed, the amusement turned to infatuation, infatuation to genuine concern, concern into love. He had never desired anyone, man or woman, the way he desired Ed. It was almost like an addiction, intensified by the fact Ed was carrying his children.
Roy was still standing in the middle of his office when he heard the doorknob click and creak. Rush stood in the doorway, smiling at him with a tray of fresh baked chocolate cookies, Roy\'s all time favorite. She closed the door and looked at her brother, who still hadn’t moved. Roy had phases ever since he was a child when he would become nearly catatonic for being so deep in thought, and she noted that this was one of those times. She walked up to him and kissed his cheek in the same spot where Hughes had kissed him a few moments ago. Roy turned his head to her and gave her a blank stare. “Haruko approved my marriage to Edward,” he said in a monotone voice. Rush squealed and hugged her brother so hard; she nearly knocked him over.
“That’s great! Aren’t you happy too?” she asked, frowning at Roy’s blank stare. “I’m not good enough for Ed,” he mumbled, flopping down in one of the leather chairs. Rush looked at him and laughed. “You aren’t fit to live. And if you died, Ed probably wouldn’t even buy you life.” Roy smirked, showing more emotion than he had all day. “Been there done that,” he muttered, reaching for a cookie. “Besides, I’ll ask Ed when I damn well please.” Rush popped his hand. “No processed sugar for you until you explain the life buying thing, Mr. Mustang.” Roy stretched and motioned for his sister to come closer. “I died about three weeks ago,” he whispered nodding his head. Rush glared at him. “Be serious ass head. How can you be dead and be here unless...” she opened her mouth and screamed in horror. “ENVY!!” she yelled and bashed Roy in the head with the tray.
When Roy came to, he had a nauseating headache. The looked around his office to see broken chocolate cookies, Edward, Al, Riza, Hughes, and Rush; who by the way was looking extremely guilty twisting her handkerchief around in her hand. He had the taste of dried blood in his mouth and his eye felt funny. When he tried to sit up, he saw strange psychedelic colors that he had never seen before, not even when he and Hughes would trip on acid back in the Ishbal days. “Easy, easy,” Riza coached, taking one of his arms. Hughes took the other as they dragged him over to the couch. “I didn\'t know it was Roy I thought he was Envy and he told me he died three weeks ago and Ed bought him life and he tried to eat my cookies and I got scared and I hit him and I didn\'t mean to Roy I’m so sorry!!” Rush cried, running over to the couch. Roy opened his eyes and grimaced at his sister. “Get. Her. Away. From. Me.” he moaned, holding his head. Hughes took Rush by her shoulders, distracting her by telling her Ramona and Alex were in the old library, but they weren’t reading books. He convinced her to go spy on them and she left, mouthing “I’m sorry” again to Roy.
Ed looked down at his fallen lover, and smirked at the huge lump on the left side of his head. “That’s funny. both of your heads have lumps on the left side,” he stated, holding his stomach and laughing. Hughes chuckled at that, he had seen Roy’s dick plenty of times and though he denied it, Roy did have a small lump on the left side of the head. He claimed it was abnormal skin growth, but Hughes would always tease him and tell him he had ‘brain cancer’. Roy frowned and threw a pillow at Ed. He pressed on the now hard lump through his hair and sighed. He assumed he had a mild concussion and that he’d have a headache for awhile. He gladly accepted the ice pack Ed brought him and placed it over the lump.
Riza stared at Roy for a moment before sitting at his feet on the couch. “So what was that ‘Ed bought you life’ thing Rush was babbling about?” she asked, unlacing his boots and slipping them off. Roy wiggled his toes and smiled at Ed. “It seems like our boy stumbled upon a red pony,” he stated. Riza and Hughes’ mouths both dropped open. ‘So that’s what the red flash on the hill was,’ Hughes’ mind shouted to him. “Nani? (What?)” Edward asked, puzzled. “I didn’t find-” Hughes clapped his hands and whispered in his ear that a red pony was a philosopher\'s stone in their coded language. “Oh, yeah. This girl named Crystal gave it to me,” Edward added, catching on to the language. Roy smiled proudly. “Nice save,” he stated, beckoning for Edward to come closer. Ed leaned down and kissed the lump on his head, then kissed his lips softly. “Mmmmm,” Roy moaned, taking a peek down Ed’s shirt. Riza coughed to break up the moment. As cute as Ed and Roy were, she didn’t want to witness them dry humping in the office.
“So about the pony, Ed. How long have you had it, and was the other day the first time you rode it?” she asked, clearly intrigued. She knew Dr. Marcoh was funny about who he gave his stones to, and she wanted to know how Ed impressed the doctor so. Ed smiled evilly. “No, the first time I rode Roy was in here, in the exact spot you’re sitting.” Riza got up like her ass had been set on fire. She looked at the spot on the couch and swore in her mind that cum stains were visible on the seat. She shuddered and gave Ed a hateful glare. “I meant the other Mustang,” she snapped, crossing her arms and looking fierce. “Yes, the other day was the first time I rode,” Ed said in between laughs. “I didn’t feel a need to ride until the other day.” Riza nodded and walked toward the door. “I’m going to get Rush and take her out. Call me later and we’ll talk more okay?” she said, nodding at Roy. He nodded back and gave her a smile, though it hurt his face to move. He sat up slower this time and steadied himself enough to walk Riza to the door. He told her to tell his sister that she was forgiven, but not to ever fall asleep in his house again. She laughed and waved, leaving Hughes, Ed, and Roy alone in his office.
Lt. Colonel Frank Archer watched as Riza walked away from the office, laughing and jiggling happily. He sneered and fell back into the shadows as she walked past him, not even noticing him. “Ponies,” he muttered, shaking his head. “Fucking Full Metal gets to take vacations riding ponies while I’m stuck here picking up those assholes slack. I knew that little pansy fag was fucking Mustang. Humph,” he snored, stepping out from the shadows. “Better him than me,” he said, laughing deeply. He stopped and rubbed his chin thoughtfully. “Still, what’s this bullshit about horses?” he mused aloud. “I can tell you what they’re discussing,” a voice said from behind him. He whirled around, drawing his gun, but then stopped at the familiar face with fiery red hair. He squinted and then snapped his fingers. “I know you. You dated the Colonel. Umm...Parker?” he asked, scratching his head. “Yes. Parker Nightingale. And I’m here to help you destroy those three bitches in that office,” the voice replied sweetly. Frank licked his lips and offered his arm. “Shall we?” he offered, walking over to the woman. “We shall,” was the reply and the two of them walked away together.
Hughes pointed out the window. “Look, Frank’s tryin to pull a chick,” he said, laughing at the pale officer walking toward the parking lot with a woman at his side.\"What a fag,\" Hughes said, and then turned and looked apologetically at Roy and Ed. “Ooh, I wanna see,” Ed cried, but was quickly grabbed around his waist and his mouth was taken prisoner by Roy’s. Hughes heard the familiar kissing noises and chuckled, holding his head. “Everyone is getting ass, even Frank,” he mused aloud. “I bet even non-pussy getting Havoc is banging someone.” Turning back toward the window, he let out a small gasp when he saw the woman\'s face. \"Parker?\" he asked himself in a low voice. He turned and smiled at Ed and Roy and gathered up his discarded jacket. \"I just thought of something I have to do. Don\'t make too much kissy face, okay?\" he teased and then walked out the door unnoticed by Ed and Roy to spy on Lt. Archer and his \"companion.\"
Ed pulled himself away from Roy’s lips, inhaling deeply and gently grinding against Roy‘s lap. “Can’t hold your breath like you used to,” Roy teased, nipping his lover’s bottom lip gently. Ed smiled and pointed at his stomach. “It’s not me that needs the air, it’s them.” Roy leaned forward and untied the small white bow that was at the end of Ed’s braid. Slowly, he worked the braid apart, letting the golden crinkles fall over Ed’s shoulders and down his back.
“Your hair is golden and crinkly,” Roy said in a dreamy tone. “Like french fries,” he added, then fell into giggles.
Ed shook his head. “Rush really did a number on you,” he said, scooting down comfortably in between Roy’s legs on the floor.
Roy began to hum softly and run his fingers through Ed’s hair. It was something he knew would make Ed feel good. When he and his sisters were younger, he would often rub their heads to make them go to sleep so he could go out and drink with Hughes. Ed purred and moaned, feeling the tips of his fingers and toes tingle under Roy’s touch. Moments later, Roy heard snoring. Standing over Ed and picking him up, he carried him carefully bridal style down the steps and out of the door, nodding at General Haruko and Maria Ross as he left. He gently placed Ed into his car and looked at him smiling. “Sleep well, sweet prince. Tomorrow I’m gonna ask you a really important question, and I really hope you say yes,” he whispered to Ed, stroking his hair. He turned the ignition and pulled out of the lot to head home.
