Part 10
I shifted nervously as I stood in the doorway after pressing the bell. 'I hope this is ok' I thought, twisting the fabric of my bag.
The door opened and Heero waved me in, smiling. "What's with the bag?" He asked me as I passed him and parked in the living room.
"Well, Trowa's sleeping at Qat's tonight, soooo..." I looked up at Heero before blurting out "canIstayhereforthenight?" Heero looked stunned, his mouth hung slightly open, and he was just staring at me. God I wanted to reach over and kiss him. One of the reasons why I had been so nervous about the possibility of spending the night at Heero's was that I wouldn't be able to think about anything but him. Not that that didn't happen anyway. I couldn't get him off my mind. Another reason was that sometimes I have bad dreams. Dreams about my dad coming out of jail and beating the absolute crap out of me. I don't have these dreams as often as I used to, but they still happened often enough that Quatre asks me if I've had one on a regular basis. Or at least he used to. Now he was too wrapped up in Trowa. I understand that though. I was totally wrapped up in Heero at the moment, but I did miss spending time with him and Wufei. Especially Wufei. I mean, the poor guy had no one to talk to except Relena, and what type of conversation could a little kid give you?
Heero shut his mouth and said "Sure Duo, I'll show you your room" I must have looked surprised at that comment because he smirked and said "I thought the two lovers might want an entire night together eventually. I stowed all the casual clothes in a closet in the room next to mine, and you can stay in there as well."
I grinned at him "Thanks man" I said, incredibly relieved, yet also nervous in case I got a bad dream tonight. But what would the odds of that happening be? I followed him up the stairs to the top floor. Man his ass looks good in those jeans! Heero led me to a room that I kinda remember being next to his. It was a double room done in a soft violet colour. I stared a little, not really remembering how beautiful it was. The walls were a very pale shade, almost white. The curtains were tiered in three layers of 3 different shades of violet and the bed was covered in the most gorgeous satin quilt that I had ever seen. It was a fantastic rainbow of violet squares, with a galaxy sewn on over the top. The whole room screamed at me, in a pleasant way. It was like everything had been picked for me. It was all a variation of the colour of my eyes. I turned towards Heero who was standing by the large ebony wardrobe. 'Mmmmm...Heero in my bedroom, that's what I want!' I thought.
"Well, do you like it? He asked me.

I looked at him as he checked out the room, his eyes widening in surprise.
"What do you think?" I asked him nervously. I'd completely redecorated it for him, just in case, but he didn't need to know that. I had perfectly calculated the exact shade of violet that his eyes were, and had frantically searched for things that matched. The overall effect had been pleasing, even if I do say so myself.
"It's fantastic!" Duo said, looking around with wonder in his stunning eyes. I glowed inside. He liked it. "But, I don't remember a room like this when you showed me around" Duo asked me with a questioning note in his voice.
"We must have missed it in the rush of the tour" I said vaguely, hoping he bought the excuse. "The clothes are in here" I said, gesturing to the ebony wardrobe. I knew Duo liked to change as soon as he got here. I left the room, closing the door behind me, tossing "I'll be in the kitchen" over my shoulder. I was going to make him dinner. It took Duo an age to shower, and I could get started on that recipe I had wanted to do for ages. Duo had been teaching me how to cook, and this was the first time I had found something difficult. I hoped he liked it. It was a chicken casserole with a spicy tomato sauce. You had to bake it for a few hours in the oven, so it should be ready by six-thirty (1).
I had just gotten the casserole in the oven when Duo came down the stairs to the kitchen, towelling his hair dry. This wasn't the first time I'd seen his hair down, but it still affected me the same way. The almost incredible urge to jump on him, rip his clothes off and push him to the ground. It was a golden mass of chestnut that cascaded down his back like a magical waterfall. I wanted to run my fingers through it so badly when it was down that sometimes my fingers actually began to shake. They were shaking now.
I quickly picked up the dirty dishes and dumped them into the sink in an effort to keep myself busy.
"Hey Heero" Duo said, dropping his towel on the chair and picking up a dish cloth, intent on drying the dishes. "Have I ever mentioned that your showers rule? I mean, they're so large, and the hot water never runs out." I love the way Duo's voice sounded. It was so deep and smooth.
I watched Duo's hands on the dishes, so confident and sure as he handled the cloth.
I wished they were on me.

I cringed in my dark little corner. He was coming closer. 'Oh God, please don't let him find me, please don't let him find me' I chanted over and over in my head. He was coming closer, I could hear it, could feel it. Then, nothing. All was silent except for something, somewhere, dripping. I didn't want to look up, kept my head on my knees. But I couldn't stop myself. My head rose, and I saw him, looming over me. His hand descended, and he picked me up by my shirt.
"Did you think you could hide from me boy?" He asked me, his alcohol ladened breath washing over me. I looked over his shoulder at the dripping sound, and I saw my mum lying in the remains of the glass coffee table. Her hand was up on the metal frame, and the dripping noise was the sound the blood made as it hit the puddle of blood in the floor, after sliding of her index finger. I looked at her wide, violet eyes for reassurance. She used to try and protect me, used to comfort me, to keep him away from me. Now those eyes just stared at me sightlessly.
"Did you think she cared boy? Did you think she'd stay?" He laughed mirthlessly. "Don't you know that no-one cares for you? No one could ever care for you Duo. No -one ever has, and no-one ever will." He turned me towards her, her beauty marred forever now. "You're next boy, you're next!"
And he raised his hand to strike me.
"NO, DADDY NO!!!!" I screamed at him.
