The Happy Halfway Point

Disclaimer: Nope, still don’t own FMA. This is the last chapter of Vol.1!!! The 2nd installment will be up shortly!!!

A/N If you want to really visualize what Evergreen looks like, she favors Omahyra Mota (a really weird looking model) but heavier, because model girl is like -5 pounds. Isis looks like Lisa Bonet...for all intensive purposes lets just say there’s like 18 or so years between them. You’ll understand after this chapter. If you don’t, then there never was any hope for you to begin with. :D

Evergreen stood in Central’s cafeteria, waiting for Al. He had called her earlier that morning and agreed to eat with her for lunch, or rather, watch her eat. Evergreen wore ‘normal’ clothes; a yellow v-neck sundress with spaghetti straps that had thin green tassels on the shoulder bones. She also had on lime green heels (borrowed from Roy’s sister Rush who also had a size 11 foot!) and had a small sequined purse in her hand. Her long black hair was curled and sort of frizzed out in almost an afro and there was a white gardenia flower picked from the garden beside the library on he left side of her head tucked behind her ear. She opted to wear something that could reveal her curvaceous figure more, mainly because she just could. In the Xing, it was highly unacceptable for a royal to be in public without traditional clothes and the face covered below the eyes. True, the face cloth was helpful when the occasional chin zit appeared, but most of the time it was a hassle. The cloth also brought attention to her ‘old maid’ status. She was twenty-three, almost beyond hope for a husband. Most women, despite status were married off before their fifteenth birthday. Evergreen either scared off or disgusted any potential husbands her parents lined up for her, including Dartan, the illustrious ruler of Drachma. He even offered her parents land in the Briggs Mountain Range and to be named in the non-aggression pact with Amestris. Of course, Dartan was ugly, old, and missing most of his teeth. Evergreen would rather her clit surgically removed with no anesthesia than even touch Dartan.

She felt something behind her and turned and smiled, but quickly frowned at the hauntingly familiar face.

“Do I know you?” Frank Archer squinted and tapped his chin looking up at the tall, pretty woman. In her heels, Evergreen stood close to 6’2, in stocking feet, 5’11.

She frowned at him and shook her head. “No, I don’t think so.” Then she walked off, but obviously not fast enough because Archer followed her and gently touched her bare arm. Evergreen whirled around and stomped her left foot and placed a hand on Archer’s jacket and roughly pushed him away. “You don’t know me so back the fuck off!” she cried and stormed off, fighting to keep from breaking out in a run.

Archer felt the front of his jacket, which was now wet and cold, as if ice had been there melting. “Just as I thought,” he murmured, his eyes darkening. “I knew Flame had lied to me about executing you.” He watched the green eyed woman walk away as his mind flashed back to the bombs and hysteria of Ishbal. He and Kimblee were on a recon mission to find and execute on sight any Ishbalans that had not been previously killed. Kimblee of course was just as insane as ever, placing his array etched hands on anything he could reach just for the sake of causing explosions and making blood and entrails fly. He and Kimblee had reached an inn and walked through it, finding no one. As they were walking out, Kimblee turned and placed his hands on the floor, blowing a hole in it and finding a young woman cradling a girl who looked no more than about twelve or thirteen. He and Kimblee each snatched at a woman and began fondling and beating them. Part of the spoils of war was to do whatever to and with whomever with little to no repercussions. Archer remembered the emerald eyes, cold with hate. He remembered fondling the small breasts and Kimblee’s scream when the older of the women suddenly impaled his shoulder with what looked like a large sharp icicle. Then he looked at the small girl, who had drawn array on his hand in her blood and stomped her foot. Moments later, his hand ached terribly, so much so that he left the woman go and both ran out of the inn. Moments later, he heard gunfire and Hughes and Flame yelling. He and Kimblee went outside when they had gathered themselves together and saw Hughes and Flame, putting two blood splattered tarp covered bodies in the back of their jeep and drive off, with Flame turning his head and nodding at Archer.

“I wonder where he found two bodies to replace theirs so fast,” Archer mumbled aloud. Then he shrugged, because in the ruins of Ishbal, the military had left thousands dead; a lifeless body could be found basically anywhere. Archer smiled at his newfound information and felt good knowing he had a ‘trump card’ over the aspiring Colonel. Failure to execute a traitor was treason punishable by death. “Shimoyake no Rekinjutsushi,” he said in a lecherous tone and burst into laughter as he walked to the bathroom to dry off his jacket.

Evergreen panted as she leaned against a tree in the shade outside the cafeteria. She didn’t mean to use alchemy in front of Archer, but as soon as she recognized him, all the horrible memories of Ishbal and how she and Isis were almost raped came flooding back and instinct took over. She had small beads of sweat running down her chest and into her cleavage from sprinting away from the cafeteria. Even though she had hoped against Archer recognizing her, she knew he did. Worry crossed her face and she realized she and Isis had to get back to the Xing and FAST. They had heard about Kimblee being imprisoned and then executed, but stories weren’t always reliable, and they had also hoped perhaps Archer had been arrested too. No such luck on that though.

Evergreen felt a cold hand on her shoulder and stomped her foot and prepared to frostbite whoever it was touching her when she saw the hand was gray.

“Evergreen?” Al asked tentatively, hoping she wasn’t mad because he was late. He had walked in the cafeteria right when she was running away, and from the smug look on Frank Archer’s face, he knew the asshole Lieutenant had said something out the way to her and had followed her outside. Evergreen nearly collapsed at the sweet sound of Al’s voice. Turning around quickly, she embraced him, holding the metal armor in her hands. Al heard a rattling and knew Evergreen was shaking. She was shaking so hard; she was actually causing his suit to vibrate.

“Alphonse, hold me.” It wasn’t a request; it was a demand and a desperate cry for help.

“B-But I’m so cold and-”

“Please! Just...” Evergreen began to sob uncontrollably. Al wordlessly wrapped his arms around Evergreen and held the girl and caught her when her legs gave out. “You look pretty,” Al said, trying to placate her. She stared up at him with huge emerald eyes and gave him a small smile. “Take me to your home, please.” Her voice was hoarse and her eyelids drooped, and Al knew she was emotionally wasted. He picked her up in a fluid sweeping motion and carried her bridal style to Roy and Ed’s house, the only trace left that either of them had been under the enormous oak tree in front of the cafe was the gardenia that fell out of Evergreen’s hair when Al picked her up and carried her off.
****************

“So you say it was Frank Archer that was talking to her and when you found her she was clearly upset?” Isis asked Al for the thirtieth time. She happened to be at home with Roy, Maes, and the twins when they saw Al coming up the block, carrying Evergreen. Ed was out somewhere, probably spending all of Roy’s money. She was unconscious when she arrived and was still in a deep sleep in the same bed where she was unconscious the previous day. Roy’s eyes had gotten huge at the mention of Evergreen talking to Frank and had called Hughes to come and put his thoughts in the situation. They all were staring at Al intently, wondering what to do about Frank.

“Fuck.” Isis ran a hand through her crinkly hair and glared at Al. “If you had gotten there earlier, Frank wouldn’t have seen her. FUCK!” Isis shouted and punched a pillow that was in the chair beside her. Maes glared at her down his glasses. “It wasn’t Al’s fault that Frank was there. He’s on base; he would have eventually seen you guys.”

Isis turned her fury on Hughes. “Had you all arrested him on crimes against humanity, he wouldn’t be on base!”

“Had we not gotten there when we did, he and Kimblee would have caught you, raped you, and probably blown you to bits!” The words fell out of Hughes’s mouth before he could catch them. He instantly regretted bringing up the situation of such vulnerability when he saw the broken look in Isis’s eyes. The same look she wore in Ishbal when they were shoved in the alley with Dr. Marcoh, the look of shame she wore when she had to tell her boyfriend how roughly she had been treated, how soiled her soul felt. The news that she, the protector of Evergreen, her guardian, her... Al stared silently and frightened at the two adults staring daggers at each other. Finally, Isis’s face fell and she covered her hands.

“You’re right, Maes. Thank you for saving us.” The shamed whisper came, with salty tears that followed. Hughes walked over and embraced the usual stoic and hard-assed woman, who seemed to be crumbling like the sandcastles that Al used to make when Ed threw water on them, laughing and running on the beach with BOTH parents looking over them. Had Al the tears, he would have cried too. “What a way to greet a friend,” Hughes mumbled, burying his face in the crinkly, lemon scented hair.

Roy looked sadly at Al, then at Isis and Maes, who were still embraced. “What can we do?” he murmured out loud, talking more to himself than to anyone else. “Frank won’t hurt either of you. I won’t let him.” They all turned to see Al standing, his red eyes looking redder than they ever have. “I’ll kill Frank if he so much as looks in your directions.”

Isis smiled and looked at Al over Hughes’s shoulder. “Thank you. I know Evergreen will appreciate it, as will I.” Cori toddled cautiously up to Isis and held up her chubby arms. She and Cil had heard the fighting and even though they were babies, they knew to stay their distance. Isis smiled at the black haired girl and picked her up and kissed her. “You remind me of my daughter when she was your age,” she whispered to Cori, nuzzling her baby soft neck and inhaling the light fragrance of baby powder and milk. Isis had to hand it to Ed; he had the cleanest babies she had ever seen. The only time they were dirty was if they had used the bathroom or threw up on themselves. Most babies were grimy and stunk, but the twins were nearly immaculate. Cil wobbled into the room a few moments later and pointed at Hughes and started screaming. They all guessed that was his way of saying hello, or maybe he was screaming at Hughes’s glasses. Cil screamed again and ran off when Hughes laughed and started after him, making weird noises.

Roy looked at Isis with confusion. ‘Daughter?’ “Ise, when did you have a daughter?” Roy asked, leaning forward on the couch. Isis looked clearly rattled and to Cori’s chagrin quickly set her down. “I didn’t say-” she mumbled, but Roy cut her off.

“Yes you did. Who is your daughter? Is she in the Xing?”

Isis brought her tear filled green eyes up to Roy and sighed. “My daughter is in the next room.”

Roy looked at Isis with even more confusion. “Her father?...” he began but got cut off.

“Her father is the Crystal Alchemist, Dr. Timothy Marcoh.”

Evergreen sat up in the bed, eyes wide and scared. She had been listening for awhile to the rising voices in the next room. She had heard when Isis was yelling at Al and then Maes, and when Maes yelled harshly back. Then she heard Roy ask about a daughter and heard her cousin say that her daughter was in the next room. That couldn’t be though, because the only person in the room was she. Evergreen wondered if maybe she had hit her head and was hearing things. She heard a clink coming down the hall that was trademarked as Al’s footsteps and threw the covers back over her head and lay down.

Al stealthily opened the bedroom door and peered in at Evergreen. She was sleeping, or appeared so but...she was breathing too fast. Almost panting. Al walked over to the cover and peeled it back to see two huge green eyes.

“I was sleeping.” she looked up with an emotionless expression at Al.

“Liar.”

Evergreen laughed at Al’s retort, bending over. The laughter quickly became tears again as she sobbed and struck out at the blankets. Al sat on the bed and gathered the broken girl in his arms as best he could. “You need to go talk to Isis, but not now. I’ll stay with you until you ask me to leave.” Evergreen was grateful for the armored man holding her, and felt warmth come from Al, even though it wasn’t fleshly warmth. Roy and Isis had heard Evergreen crying and knew she had heard them talking. Isis hung her head in shame as Roy came over and held her tentatively.

“You can talk to her tonight, after the wedding.” Roy looked down and smiled at Isis, who looked confused. “Wedding?”

Roy shrugged. “Gen. Haruko is tired of me stalling. He said he was coming over tonight at 11:30pm and that Ed and I would be married by 11:45, 11:50pm at the latest.” Roy tugged Isis towards the twins room where Al and Evergreen were. “C’mon so we can tell them that they’re gonna be guests at the most fantastic wedding Central has ever seen!” Isis smiled but she and Roy both frowned when they passed the kitchen. Cori and Cil were on the floor, covering Hughes in flour, butter, and sprinkles from the pantry.

“Cake!” Cori shouted and danced in a circle.

“Cake!” Cil shouted and thwacked Hughes in the nuts with a wooden spoon.

“Hay de los mios! Los ninos son horribles!!” Hughes screamed and cupped his balls.
********************
A few hours later, Al and Havoc were setting up the white fold out chairs in Roy and Ed’s backyard. The moon was out and shining brightly, so brightly that it easily lit up the whole yard. General Haruko was already present, as were most of the guests. Al, Evergreen, Isis, Ramona, Riza, Alex, Rush, Hughes and family, Maria, Denny, Kain, Winry, and Pinako were all present to witness the long awaited nuptuals of Roy and Ed.

Ed was in the Red Room with Winry, Riza, and Maria making the final preparations to his outfit. He was going to wear a black satin corset covered in black lace (Maria had enviously gasped upon seeing Ed’s perfect breasts up close for the first time) with right black leather pants that flowed out at the knees and a black cape similar to his red one. He wore black shiny boots and black gloves. Riza outlined his eyes in gray eyeliner, making the large golden orbs look even larger. The women French braided Ed’s hair and tied a thin black ribbon on the bottom. Winry insisted on spraying Ed with her ‘Deliciously Romantic’ brand of body mist on every uncovered part of Ed’s body. She claimed the scents would be helpful in case Roy wanted to get ‘lucky’ that night. Riza applied blush to the top of Ed’s breasts, making the cleavage look deeper and more enticing. She also added a diamond charm to the middle of the corset where it tied, making the outfit look even sexier. Ed stared in the mirror at himself while he sipped the Mai Tai Riza made for him to help calm his nerves after he screamed she jabbed him in the eye with the eyeliner. (She actually didn’t.) He sighed at how...pretty he looked. He was almost scared to go out there. What happened next did nothing to quell the butterflies in his stomach.

“Special delivery for the future Mr. Mustang!” Hughes called from the closed door. Maria walked over to the door and cracked it open, lets Maes see Ed and tell Roy how he looked. “Yes, Maes?” Maria used Maes’s first name for the fourth time in her life. Tonight wasn\'t about ranks and titles; it was about love and union.

Hughes smiled at Maria and handed her a letter and an ink pen. “Roy says it is imperative that Ed read and respond to this. I\'ll wait in the hall.” He turned and shoved his hands in his pocket, whistling.

Maria handed the letter over to Ed and all of them crowded around to read it.

Dear Edward,
Wow, can you believe we’re getting married? Sorry, but I changed my mind. Don’t worry though; just respond to the following questions by marking the yes or no answers.
1. Did you really want to get married?
2. Are you mad at me?
3. Do you still love me?
4. Are we still friends?
5. Will you have sex with me?
6. I am nervous as FUCK. Are you?
7. Did you see Maes? He looks like a penguin.
8. Did the girls make you look like Ziggy Stardust?
9. Do you know where the remote is?
10. Are you as happy as I am right now?

Ok, sweetie, finish answering and give this back to Maes. If you don’t, I really won’t marry you and General Haruko will nail our asses to the tree.

Your Husband,
Roy Mustang

The girls saw Ed’s emotions and saw him scribbling fast on the paper. Sighing and laughing, he handed the paper back to Maria to give to Hughes, who was outside the door picking his nose. Maria grimaced and placed the paper in the booger free hand and smirked as the penguin walked away.

Roy stood in the bathroom, staring at himself in the mirror. He made sure his formal uniform had every pin, every stripe, and every button in place. He never looked as good as he did then, not even when he was inducted as a Colonel. Three soft knocks on the door signaled Hughes was back with his letter for Ed. Roy nodded at Alex, who was also helping him to get dressed, to open the door. Roy eagerly snatched the letter from Hughes, who bent in to see Ed’s answers.

1. Whew! NO!! I was wondering how I was gonna get out of this one...
2. No, I don’t care enough about you to be mad at you.
3. No, I NEVER loved you. Ha Ha.
4. No, we were never friends to begin with. Dork.
5. Yes, I’ll have sex with you. As long as you pay me.
6. Yes darling, I’m horribly nervous.
7. No, but Maria said he looked stupid.
8. Yes. As we speak, David Bowie is suing me for imitating his character w/out permission.
9. Yes. Cillian flushed it down the commode.
10. No. I’m happier.

Al looked around. He and Havoc had done a marvelous job at setting up the back yard so quickly. There was an entryway made out of wood and flowers for Roy and Ed to stand under while the General read them their vows and a red carpet that ran from the entryway all the way around to the kitchen door that Ed would walk out of. Al chuckled on the inside- there was no way he and Jean could have gotten everything together unless he had cheated and used some alchemy. His only hope was that nothing broke or became unstable and exploded during the ceremony.

“Al, you’ve done such a wonderful job.” Al turned around to see Gracia standing behind one of the tables at the back, placing meatballs and cheese on a platter. Kain and Denny were carrying plates and utensils from Hughes’s car while Gracia set up the food. The cake was inside, actually underneath the table away from children and hungry militia. Al nodded his head and started helping Gracia set up the banquet for the wedding. He and Evergreen had not really spoken since she found out who her real parents were. The last second wedding helped to give Evergreen something else to do and concentrate on rather than her own life. She was sitting in a chair by herself close to the front and Isis was sitting in a chair in the back. Al noticed that Isis was staring at Evergreen, and that Evergreen refused to turn around.

Al looked up and saw Winry, Riza, and Maria come out of the house and knew that was his cue to go inside to get Ed. On his way out, he saw Alex, Hughes, and Roy come out of the bathroom. Al said no words, but shook Roy’s hand firmly, signifying his consent for Roy to marry his brother. Roy smiled and continued down the hall to stand outside and wait for his ‘bride.’

Ed smiled when his brother came in the room. Al looked normal, but he had a tie on around his neck. “Dapper,” Ed said, gesturing to the bow. “You look amazing,” Al said hoarsely. His brother seemed to glow with happiness and the radiance was beautiful. Ed blushed and popped a few mints in his mouth. “Flattery will get you everywhere, Alphonse. Don’t ever forget that.” Ed linked his arm around his brother’s and walked out of the room. Al stuck his head out of the door, signaling for Kain to begin playing the piano for Ed to walk down the aisle. Roy turned and gaped at Ed, who was now walking (bouncing) down the aisle with Al towards him. Ed was smiling at everyone, beaming as he walked down the red carpet. Evergreen looked at Al and winked, and could swore she saw two crimson patches on the sides of Al’s helmet.

Ed and Al approached the entryway and Ed let Al go so he could stand beside Roy. General Haruko smiled and nodded at the two men. “Who gives this boy away?”

“Boy?” Ed hissed, blushing furiously. Roy wrapped his arm around Ed and poked him as a warning. Taking advantage of being so close to Ed, Roy peeked into the corset at the swollen breasts.

“I do.” Al stepped forward and placed a metal hand over his metal chest. Haruko smiled and shook Al’s hand. “Let us begin. Dearly beloved, we are gathered here tonight....”
****************
“The wedding was so beautiful,” Pinako commented to Gracia and Rush. She, the grandmother of EVERYONE was stuck watching the twins, but atleast Elysia was there to help. Gracia smiled and handed Pinako a plate filled with food.

“If you want to feed them, that’s fine but don\'t give them any of the brownies. They’re ‘special’,” Gracia hissed. Pinako sniffed a brownie, and then grinned. “That was Maes’s idea, wasn’t it?” Gracia snickered. Cil grabbed one of the meatballs off Pinako’s plate, smelled it, and threw it at her, laughing at the brown sauce on his nanny’s shirt. Pinako gave Cil a sour look. “You little shit; you\'re just like your father!” Pinako picked up the squirming boy and blew air on the crook of his neck, making the child giggle and scream.

“Mrs. Rockbell, do you need anything?” Rush asked as she prepared to go get more food. She, Gracia, and Pinako had hung pretty tight through the wedding since their companions (Maes, Winry, and Riza) were busy being attendants. Pinako looked up at the mirror image of Roy and smiled. “Yeah, I need to know how Ed’s tits got so huge.” Gracia and Rush burst out laughing, as did Cil even though he didn’t understand what was going on. Elysia and Cori took turns smearing cake over each other’s faces and crumbling cheese in each other’s hair.

“Damn girl, you fine as hell! What’s your name?” Roy came up behind Ed, pretending he didn’t know who he was. Ed chuckled and turned around, untying his cape. “Edward,” he said in a girlish voice, batting his eyes. “Okay, I just got wood,” Roy murmured, looking down at Ed’s chest. He wrapped his arms around Ed and kissed his neck and face, swaying back and forth.

“This went better than I expected, Roy. I thought we’d atleast be attacked, poisoned, or shot at.” Ed pouted and looked at Roy. “Maybe we should have sent invitations.”

Roy smiled and pulled gently on Ed’s braid. “This is OUR day. I’m totally relaxed; I don’t even have my gloves.” Ed placed his hand in Roy’s pocket and pulled out a book of matches. Grinning, he waved them in Roy’s face. Roy snatched the matches and gave Ed a rough kiss on the lips. “Those were for you, because tonight, I’m gonna have that ass burning.” Ed squealed and ran away from Roy, who was staring lecherously after him.

Al and Evergreen were over by the gazebo he and Kain had precariously constructed and then covered in white flowers as to hide any architectural flaws. Evergreen sat on the bench inside and patted the seat beside her, motioning for Al to join her.

“The wedding was so nice, wasn’t it? I didn’t expect Roy to cry,” Evergreen said, chuckling. When Haruko asked Roy to recite his vows, when he got to the ‘for better or worse’ part, tears started to fall and almost everyone at the wedding started to cry. Ed and Roy were both wiping each other’s tears away. Of course, Maes was bawling like a child denied candy.

Al nodded and looked at Evergreen. “I probably would have cried if I had the tears.” Evergreen gave Al a sad look and then turned away and stood.

“Al, I’ve only known you for minutes of my life, but...” She turned to Al and faced him, her green eyes bright. “I think I love you.”

Evergreen looked around cautiously, hoping no one would come running and ruin their moment when they heard the crash of Al’s metal hitting the ground. She ran over to assist the stunned alchemist. ‘Wow, I guess he never had a girlfriend before...or maybe he doesn’t like me!! she thought wildly. Al stared at Evergreen as she helped him back on the bench.

“I should go,” she mumbled, her brown face reddening in embarrassment. She stood again and prepared to walk when Al grabbed the back of her maroon dress. “How are you just going to tell me you love me and then walk away?” he asked in a smooth and gently chastising voice. He saw Evergreen’s shoulders slump as she relaxed and flopped back on the bench. They stared at each other for a moment and Evergreen very shyly planted a kiss on the rough edge of Al’s chin. Though it was a very limited emotion, he felt happiness. He took Evergreen’s hand and stroked it lovingly, feeling more at peace than he had in his entire teenage life. He understood now how Ed felt about Roy.

“Did you see that?” Ed motioned toward the gazebo where Evergreen had just kissed Al. Maes wiped his eyes again. “That’s so precious!” he whined. Ed gave Maes a disgusted look. “Enough with the tears, you’re killing me, dude.” Ed offered Maes one of the ‘special’ brownies, which Maes gladly accepted. “I made these, did you know that?” Maes tapped Ed’s shoulder as he strained to see Al and Evergreen. “Stop straining before you pop something, shorty.” Ed whirled around and glared at Roy, who had a plate full of brownies and meatballs. Ed opened his mouth to complain, but Roy shoved a meatball in his mouth instead. “Learn how to mind your business. Al is a grown ass man. Let him handle his.” Roy gave Ed a meaningful look and Ed shrugged, wanting to keep the peace. He gave one last look at the gazebo and prayed that Evergreen wouldn’t do anything to hurt Al. If she did, the Shimo’s will end up one Princess short.

“I think I can restore your body.” Al looked up sharply at Evergreen, who was pacing the gazebo again. “I mean my father is the legendary Crystal Alchemist, the so-called highest authority on the Philosopher’s Stone. I can find him and make him tell me what to do.”

Al looked down and shook his head. “The way to make a stone takes red water and...and a whole assload of people.”

Evergreen turned around. “You wouldn’t want the deaths of so many on your hands, would you?” she asked gently. Al shook his head. “Even if they are undeserving child rapers like Archer and Kimblee?” Al shook his head again, but it took longer contemplation for reaction. Evergreen fell to her knees beside Al and placed her arms in his lap and lay her head down. “I’ll find Marcoh and the stone. I have questions of my own for him,” she said in an aside to herself.

Al stroked his love’s arms, wanting desperately to feel her smooth skin. “Do you want me to come with you?” he asked in an even tone. Evergreen looked up at him and gave him a warm smile. “Of course. But Ed would kill me. He might be married and all, but he needs you now. Just like Kenshin needs me.” she thought of her small, wizened sister wilting away and tears came to her eyes. She opened her mouth to ask Al if Isis (mother) had talked with Roy and Ed about the bones and the red stone Ed posessed, but faltered and wondered it it was her place to say something. She fixed her mouth back into the smile and stood up. She had to go back to the Xing and check on her sister, and then find Tim Marcoh, and she had a lot of ground to cover.

Al wrapped his metal arms around Evergreen, feeling myriad emotions. Evergreen held Al tightly until the metal dug into her arms and left impressions. “I’ll be back for you, Alphonse Elric.” she whispered and looked at him again. They walked out of the gazebo, hand in hand up to Roy and Ed, who were dancing with each other. Evergreen hugged Roy, and then Ed, smiling at both of them.

“May the Isbhalan gods rain down blessings, happiness, and prosperity on your family.” Evergreen smiled again and Ed stared at her.

“Are you leaving now?” he couldn’t mask the suspicion in his voice. If she was planning on taking Al with her, she was going to have to meet Senor Cuchillo, which was Ed’s auto mail sword.

Evergreen nodded. “I think father can help me either find or create a stone to restore Al. He owes me that much.” She turned and hugged everyone at the reception and then whispered a few words to Isis. Isis’s eyes widened and narrowed at whatever Evergreen was whispering and she nodded her head.

“Roy, Ed, I wish you all the luck in the world,” Isis said, coming over and hugging them. Staring at Maes, she lightly punched his arm. “Ass,” she muttered and held out her arms. He smiled and embraced her, holding her tightly. “Be careful out there and be good to your daughter,” he whispered in her ear, kissing her cheek. She nodded and gave him a raspberry before walking out of the garden to her truck. Al followed them to the end of the driveway and waved as Evergreen stuck her head out of the window to stare at her first love until the hill down the block prevented either of them from seeing each other.

Roy and Ed had left the reception about an hour after Isis and Evergreen left. Riza had rented a cabin for the newlyweds and promised that their house and kids would be well taken care of. The cabin was better than what Riza said. The cabin was more of a condo on the lake, with white furniture and white plush carpeting. Roy picked Ed up and carried him over the threshold, only to drop him on a couch and look around the house in amazement. Almost everything in the house was brand new, and the house had a very clean lemony smell. Roy pulled Ed off the couch toward the back of the house, where there was an indoor Jacuzzi.

“I really owe Hawkeye a raise for finding this place for us,” Roy mumbled, turning on the Jacuzzi. He walked over to Ed and untied the cape, letting it fall to the floor. He licked his lips at Ed’s corset and gently fingered the diamond pin on the cleavage. “Wherever did you find this?” he murmured, tracing a finger down Ed’s torso. Ed grinned and slapped his hand away. “Riza gave it to me.” Roy’s eyes went wide with surprise and he pulled at the corset. Ed frowned. “The pin, doofus, not the corset. I bought it today.” Ed spun around with his arms in the air. “Likeies?” Roy untied the corset, making it fall off so now Ed was only wearing his pants. “Now I likeies,” Roy said thickly, picking Ed up and kissing him hotly.

Roy placed Ed down again and took off his clothes, and then Ed’s. They climbed into the hot Jacuzzi and began to swim around, splashing water at one another. Ed felt so content, so loved, and so happy. He never expected that kiss in Roy’s office so long ago could lead to marriage and children. He sighed and moved over to Roy, kissing him passionately. Roy lifted his legs and wrapped them around Ed’s waist, signifying he wanted to be taken. Ed plunged roughly into Roy, making the older man moan sharply and throw his head back. Water splashed over the edge of the Jacuzzi and onto the floor as Ed thrust deeply into Roy’s bowels, white-hot tightness enveloping Ed’s dick. “Fuck...me, fuck...me,” Roy chanted, lolling his head around. Ed placed both hands on the edge of the Jacuzzi and plowed Roy as hard as he could while Roy stroked himself off under the water. Ed caught Roy’s lips in a brutal, skin-breaking kiss as he came inside of his lover, his seed shooting deeply inside of Roy. Roy came moments later, so forcefully that it came out of the water and landed on one of Ed’s breasts. Smirking, Roy leaned down and licked his cum off of Ed’s breast, and licked lower, catching a hard nipple in his mouth. Ed moaned and floated backwards, breathing shallowly as he watched Roy play with his breasts. They played together in the pool for a few more moments and decided to get out and explore the rest of the house.

After playing in the Jacuzzi, Ed and Roy walked wet and naked to the bathroom and had a very chaste shower, only looking shyly at each other and smiling. After the shower, They went into the florescent-lit bedroom and squealed at the large bed and curtain less windows that overlooked the lake. There was no shame to be had; if anyone wanted to see anything, they could have seen them fucking in the pool. Roy lay down on the bed and gave Ed an inviting look by batting his eyes and spreading his legs. Ed wrinkled his nose and walked around the bed, eying his prey. He walked his auto mail fingers from the tip of Roy’s toe, up his leg, over his stomach, up his chest, and over his chin to his lips, where Roy placed a kiss on the metallic limbs. He pulled Ed down on top of him and kissed him with fevor; to show his lover how much he needed and desired him.

Ed kissed Roy’s neck, sucking at the pulsating flesh. Roy moaned and chuckled; Ed’s kisses were always so sweet and tickling. Ed continued kissing down Roy’s chest, licking and nibbling at his nipples before dipping his tongue in his navel. Ed went lower, through the tangled black mass of pubic hair to his goal, Roy’s erect and leaking member. Staring deep in Roy’s eyes, Ed swallowed the tip, tasting the bittersweet fluid and drinking every drop. His tongue traced every vein, his teeth gently scratching up and down the shaft. Roy rolled his eyes in pleasure, his hands clenched in anticipation. Ed was the best everything he had ever had, and it seemed each time they fucked it got better instead of worse, like in previous relationships. Ed pulled back, precum lingering on his lips and chin. Before Roy could question it, Ed was lowering his red puckered hole down onto Roy. Ed lifted his head and Roy could see his beautiful features distorting at the pain of being so completely and deliciously filled. Ed’s ruby lips parted and he leaned his head back and grabbed on to Roy’s shoulders, pulling him on top. The next thing Roy knew, he was looking down at Ed and Ed was looking up at him, instead of the other way around. Roy smiled and began to move within Ed when the boy whined and tried to shift his hips. Roy moved slowly, kissing Ed’s lips and fondling his breasts. Ed closed his eyes and lost himself in the sweet surrender of love, holding Roy tightly long after he came. Tears formed in Ed’s eyes as he held on Roy for dear life. Roy placed his arms around Ed and rolled them back to their original position, covering Ed with the white blanket of the bed. Roy stroked Ed’s cheek and kissed him gently before closing his own eyes and falling into a deep, peaceful sleep.

Isis and Evergreen rode through the desert silently. Isis was afraid to ask Evergreen what she was thinking and how she was feeling. Evergreen stared out of the window, looking at the stars. She wanted to make good on her promise to Al, to come back with the stone and restore him. She felt strangely at peace, even though she had discovered the first twenty-three years of her life had been a lie. She looked at Isis and smiled, and Isis returned the smile. Isis had not gotten to ask Ed or Roy about the stone, but they looked all right, so she assumed they had not used the stone. She still had the bones as well, but when she and Evergreen got back to the Xing, she had more than ample time to tell her about the bones, the stone, and Tim Marcoh. Isis’s thoughts began to wander as she drove through Ishbal, seeing the city for what it used to be, not the ruins that lay there now. She remembered meeting Tim Marcoh when she was a young girl of fifteen. The older man greatly intrigued her, and he was a state alchemist. State alchemists and alchemy period were banned in Ishbal, but there was something about the quiet, dark featured man, something that made Isis’s heart leap. He was there researching a well found to contain red water and other elements. Tim Marcoh came to her one night, telling her how much he loved her and needed her. They made love that night, and almost every night after for the next three years. When she became pregnant, Tim started putting money away and planned to go AWOL from the Amestrian army. He was with her the first night Ishbal was bombed. Evergreen was three months old. Brigadier General Haruko was the one that warned them about the attacks and Tim urged Isis to take their daughter to the Xing, where Isis’s sister was preparing to marry the emperor.

Tim warned Isis to never come back to Isbhal; that he would find them in the Xing and be a family. He never came back. When Evergreen turned twelve, Isis took her to Ishbal. When they found Tim, his hair was gray, his face wrinkled, and he was nearly insane. The horrors, executions, the coppery smell of blood, and the maddening laughs of Brigadier Gran and Major Kimblee had taken their toll on him. When he saw Isis, he barely knew her. Evergreen looked at Tim, and he cried and turned away from them, only for Kimblee and Archer to find them a few days later and attack them. That attack, along with watching Mustang kill the Rockbell’s had been too much for the good doctor. He left; disappeared until the Elric’s found him and Fuehrer Bradley took him into custody. Isis had so much to tell Evergreen, and if Tim was dead, she would have to take the task of creating a stone for Al. Tears filled Isis’s eyes as she drove through the ruins of Ishbal, wondering if the Eastern Rebellion had not happened, if she and Tim would still be together. Tears threatened to fall from Isis\'s eyes, but she would not be broken in front of her daughter. Little did she know, Evergreen was fighting back her own tears. Hurt, confusion, anger, and regret filled the car as the two women rode through the midnight desert, immeresed in their own sadness.
