Sorry about the wait, but I\'ve been so busy lately it isn\'t funny.
Anywho, here\'s the next chappie.
Chapter XVII
Trunks wiped the blood dripping from his chin with a careless swipe of his hand. He narrowed his blazing blue-green eyes and clenched his teeth.
“Why did you step in?” he asked waspishly, not looking at the taller man as he strode through the glen, “I didn’t need your help.”
“He’s my son.”
“Why does that matter? He picked the fight with me. I shoulve fve finished it, not you.”
Goku frowned slightly at his new mate’s demeanor, wishing it wasn’t so reminiscent of his sire’s.
“He wouldn’t have stopped, Trunks. I know you’re stronger but Gohan has more experience than you—
“Fat lot of good it did him,” he said smirking nastily, “I had it in the bag, five more minuets and…”
The demi-Saiyan fell silent when the other man suddenly halted his steps. They stared at each other for a moment before Goku said with censure,
“Stop it.”
Trunks eyed him for a moment, wondering briefly how far he could push the taller man. After a few passing seconds, he decided against it and settled for simply crossing his arms over his chiseled chest.
Goku seemed satisfied with this, however his lips set in a grim line as he spoke the next set of words, “You know why he was angry, Trunks, and you know if you had let that fight drag on any longer it would have cost one of you your lives. I won’t stand for that.”
The teen glared for a moment longer before grudgingly taking a breath and closing his eyes, powering down. In a brilliant display of changing hues spiky golden locks faded to a smooth silken amethyst whilst angry eyes deepend from a radiant turquoise to dark iridescent sapphire.
“I guess you’re right,” he shook his head, his battle lust leaving him, though he was still emotionally uneasy and angered from thelierlier battle, “but you should have heard what he said. I can understand him cursing me, but damn it, Goku, he insulted my family!”
“He didn’t mean it— ”
“You don’t know that!”
“Yes I do.” Goku said cutting off his companion before he could continue, “He was trying to egg you on into throwing the first punch and it worked.”
“Why in the world would he do that?”
“Because,” the Saiyan explained patiently, “as angry as Gohan was—is—he’s not the type of person to outright attack. He wanted to, I’m sure of it, but instead, he chose to goad you into fighting.”
“And thus he stays on the moral high ground, I see,” Trunks retorted as understanding dawned on him. He clenched his fists in an attempt to calm his ire…it wasn’t working very well.
“Yes.” Goku affirmed. “But it doesn’t matter.” He raised his head and rested his hands on his hips, looking unchararistically imposing. “I don’t care what he said, it wasn’t worth getting into a fight like that; one of you could have been killed.”
Trunks snorted, and simply kept walking.
“Trunks.”
“What?” he snapped.
“Calm down.” Goku commanded. He was getting annoyed with the youth’s attitude, and told him so, “If you keep acting like a child, then I’m going to treat you like one.”
Stark fury washed over the smaller figure as he spun on his heel to face the other man.
“What did you say?”
“You heard me,” he answered, slightly taken aback. The absolute outrage rolling off of the shorter man startled him. Although his outward appearance did not change, the Earth raised Saiyan was at a loss of how to react. His younger lover had never behaved this way before. He had considered Trunks one of the most laid back individuals he had ever met. However, he apparently just crossed one hell of a line from the look of vehemence on his mate’s handsome features.
“How dare you talk to me like that!” Electricity crackled through the air with the raising of ki, “I will not tolerate being browbeaten by you,” his eyes lightened once more, “especially you.” In a golden shimmer of power he floated a few feet off the ground, “You interfered with my battle and now you have the gall to reprimand me. What in the hell are you getting at, Goku? I thought you were my mate, not my father.”
His own anger and disbelief flaring, the older Saiyan nearly ascended himself knowing damn well what Trunks was insinuating.
“I am not trying to get into a power struggle with you, if that’s what you think. But you’re acting…” he broke off here feeling through their fledgling bond a sea of conflicting emotions. Rage, hurt, despair, confusion. But one and only one sensation stood out beyond the rest; Apprehensive fear.
His anger instantly snuffed, the taller man lowered his defenses as he found himself overcome with worry and acute understanding. “Oh Kami, Trunks, what did he say?”
“Oh nothing much,” he shrugged mockingly, “just questioned my mother’s morals.”
Goku may not have been the sharpest knife in the drawer, but he didn’t have to be a genius to know what Trunks meant by that. He swore to have a word or two with his son later; Bulma was one of his dearest friends, that kind of disrespect would not be tolerated, he didn’t care how angry his son was or what his intentions were.
“Then after that he moved on to my dad,” Trunks continued, “he casually stated that the reason I’d ‘whore’ myself onto you was for lack of a good father figure. I think the exact term he used was ‘a pervert with a daddy-syndrome’. Apparently he thinks I get off to being treated like a little kid.” It was here that he graced Goku with a pointed look, allowing time for his words to sink in.
“Damn it!” Goku swore unchecked, as the severity of the situation hit him in the gut. No wonder Trunks was upset.
“You know I didn’t mean…you know I don’t look at you in the same way as my sons—”
“I should hope not.” Trunks cut in.
Okay, Goku admitted, that did sound bad. He sighed in frustration. “I didn’t mean it like that. What I meant to say is that I consider you my equal.” He watched pensively for any change in the youth’s angry features, no such luck as of yet. “Look,” he took a breath, “I didn’t mean to ‘reprimand’ you, like you said earlier. I’m sorry, I just…I love you so much, and as much as a jerk he was being, I love Gohan too. I can’t stand the thought of either one of you coming to harm, especially when I’m the cause of it.” He paused as Trunk’s countenance softened minutely, “I know you’re angry and very upset over what Gohan said, and you should be, but it isn’t worth such a dangerous battle…I’m not worth it,” he clarified.
Finally, Trunks lowered himself to the ground. “Yes you are,” he said softly lowering his ki back to normal. “You’re worth dying for,” he didn’t allow the taller man to speak here, instead he silenced him with a gesture, “but you’re also worth living for. I was reckless, and for that I’m sorry. But,” his voice grew steely, “I don’t feel the least bit guilty for laying him out. He shouldn’t have run his mouth off like that.”
Smiling slightly, Goku nodded, “I agree with you on that one. Though knowing Gohan, he’ll want to get back at you for besting him. When he feels righteous about something, well…it’s hard to convince him of anything otherwise.”
Trunks didn’t look at all perturbed by this information, if anything he looked strangely eager. “I’ll be sure to watch my back.”
“That won’t be necessary,” he closed his eyes and concentrated on Gohan’s ki, intent on performing the instant transmission technique which would bring him instantly to his son, “he’s just misunderstood the situation, once I explain the circumstances—oh no!”
“What?” Trunks asked, startled.
Goku blinked a few times as if that could change what he had just sensed, “I think he just got his revenge.”
“What?” the teen asked again confused, when suddenly Beethoven’s ‘Fifth Symphony’ rang through the air in annoyingly high-pitched tones. Growling in annoyance, Trunks reached into his pocket and pulled out his cell phone.
“Hello?”
Goku didn’t need the benefit of Saiyan genetics to hear the high-pitched screaming on the other side of the phone.
Paling about five shades, Trunks could do no more than stutter a ‘yes ma’am’ and ‘no ma’am’ as Bulma’s voice continued to rage on the other end of the line.
While he couldn’t make out everything she was saying, Goku could hear choice phrases such as ‘So what Gohan said was true!?!’ ‘Goku!?..Goku!?..Why in the hell are you seeing Goku!?’ ‘How could you have been so thoughtless?’ ‘What in the hell is wrong with someone his own age?’ ‘His mid-life crisis will ruin your life’ ‘Why didn’t you tell me, how could you have done this?’ and so on and so forth, but it was the last bit that set a chill run up his spine, ‘Get your ass over here this instant! Your father is on his way as we speak.”
Later he would wonder if it was fear or resolution as in that instant he wondered what King Kai was up to at that very moment, for he had the feeling he would be paying the joke-cracking deity a personal visit very soon.

I know it was short! But it was this or nothing.
Okay, folks, that\'s it, no more waiting, the next chapter is the confrontation. I considered draging out a few more chapters, before the SHF (Shit hits fan) installation, but one of my wonderful fans (That would be you Dania) suggested every so slightly that I get to the point. And so I shall, I\'m starting on ch 18 tonight, so hopefully I\'ll have it out soon, however, I have a feeling it will be a looong ch. We\'ll have to see. All must give praises to Dania, she\'s currently working on some fan art for me, (she\'s brilliant!) and when she gets it out, with her permission I\'ll link it, for all of you to see.
Now, time to give thanks:
Kira: Glad you reviewed!! I\'m thrilled that you found my stories to your liking, and I hope I can continue to entertain you with the new additions. Thanks so much!
XZanayu: Thank you and sorry for keeping you waiting. Ah, Gohan, the little snitch..but you saw that one coming didn\'t you! Clever reader. *claps*
Mehla Seraphim: Yeah, I have to agree ch 16 is something you need to read before you go to bed, not when you get up in the morning..lol. Though I\'m sure it can put some pleasant pics in your head for the day..*snickers* I\'m glad you approve of my \'creative\' mind. I\'m rather proud of it. Thanks again!
Jupitor Knight: g/v chapters? Or did you mean g/t chapters? If you meant Goku/Vegeta, as a couple, um, well I don\'t write those. If you meant Goku/Trunks...yes, I will have a few chapters with just them, but I\'m not planing on writing a fic with them in it. I hoped that answered your question. As for the confrontation, your wait is soon over. Chapter 18 is it! Thanks for taking the time to review!
