chapter 2
well........been a long time but I'm starting to write again......so heres a couple chapters......
“Calm down, Celes! Flying isn’t easy for anybody you know, especially not for someone from a world where nobody flies!”
Bardock and Celes were at the training faculty where Bardock was teaching Celes how to fly. Or at least, he was trying to.
Normally Celes could be pretty patient, but after many times of failing to lift herself from the ground, she was definitely running out of patience. After a whole year of getting martial arts training from her new friends she figured it would be an easy task for her to learn how to fly. But it turned out to be much harder than she’d thought.
“Maybe we should retire for the night and...”
“No!” Back at home, she’d dreamed of flying with her favorite characters, soaring through the sky, feeling the wind rushing through her hair. She would just enjoy the place she was in and the view she had as she realized all the people were nothing but spots, looking fragile and weak from so high above. And now that she had the chance to learn how to fly for real, she’d be damned if she let it pass.
Determined not to give up, Celes took a deep breath. “One more try, please?”
Bardock sighed and rubbed his eyes. “Fine. But if it still doesn’t work, we’ll call it a day.”
“Don’t worry, I’ll do it right this time.”
Bardock showed her again what he was doing. “First gather your energy in your feet the same way you did it with your hand.” He told her. Celes closed her eyes to concentrate. “Then you push your energy carefully into the ground.” Bardock continued.
Celes tried to do as he had demonstrated before and concentrated as hard as she could.
“Oh!” She cried as she felt the ground disappear beneath her.
Bardock laughed. “You’re doing it. Now level out your power and hove’oopphhhfff.”
Celes fell to the ground as her concentration broke. She opened her eyes now and, suddenly forgot her anger from less than a minute ago, giggled at the sight of Bardock sprawled on the floor with a girl on top of him. Apparently she had been thrown into their direction from a sparring match a few feet away.
“Oops, I’m sorry,” the girl said as she stood up. “My brothers can be careless sometimes but I’ll show them.” With that she rolled up the sleeves of her thin sweater and walked back to the two boys just ahead. Celes figured that they were her brothers as she started to beat them up.
Bardock was obviously amazed by the sight of that girl. “Who is she?” He asked in awe.
Yam, who had been there watching Bardock trying to teach Celes how to fly, walked over to the pair now. “I think her name’s Bursa,” he said, answering Bardock’s question.
“Hey where are you going Bardock? You promised to teach me to fly today,” Celes called after him, “I gotta practice more if I want to get the hang of it!”
But Bardock was already out of hearing range. He was joining in the sparring match.
Celes shook her head. “Come on Yam, let’s get Seripa to teach me to fly.”
-----------------------------------------------------
Celes sighed as she looked out at the lake. It was times like these, when she was alone and it should be perfect, that she found herself missing her home and family. ‘I wish I could see them just once, but I can’t.’ Celes sighed again. ‘And I’m running out of time. Bursa told me she was pregnant today. It must be Raditz. I never thought it would get this far. It’s only been seven years not ten. We’re all still so young... I haven’t been able to do anything so far. I’m learning quantum physics, but it will be a long time yet before I can build a chamber that will freeze time within it.’
A rustle in the grass made her look up.
“Hey Celes whacha doing?” called Yam as he sank down beside her. Celes smiled at her friend. He was so adorable.
“Nothing much, just thinking.”
“Oh,” he looked at her with concern in his eyes, “about what?”
She turned away. What was she supposed to tell him?
“My family.”
“You miss them?”
“Yes.”
“Oh.”
Celes leaned back against the tree behind her. Someone had put a tire swing there once, before Celes had lived here. “What about your family?” She whispered.
Yam hesitated for a moment before answering. “My family?”
“Yeah you know, your mom and dad?”
“I dunno.” Reflected Yam, “My dad was Namekian but they took me away from him when I was three years old.”
Celes was saddened. “Oh. That’s really sad.”
“Not really.” Celes looked up in shock. “It happens to all the children of slaves.”
“Well just because it happens to everyone doesn’t make it right.” Celes shouted.
“I’m sorry,” sobbed Yam.
Felling bad Celes pulled Yam to her and comforted him. “It’s all right Yam I wasn’t mad at you. Cheer up.”
Yam dried his tears. “I almost forgot, Seripa is at the door. She wants to set up a surprise baby shower for Bursa, and she wants your help.”
“Well then.” Said Celes, standing up and brushing herself off. “Lets go then.”
As they walked down the hill Celes wondered how she could show Yam that he was somebody. She had really started to care about the young alien. As he was so cheerful and friendly despite all he had been through; although, the fact that his father was Namekian puzzled her.
I thought Namekians were asexual, so how would they be able to mate with other races? Yam is clearly not a pure Namek…
“Come on Bardock, can’t you fly faster than that?” laughed Celes.
“Yeah,” Seripa called, “Your kid is being born. You wanna miss it?”
Bardock panted up to them. “Of course I don’t want to miss it.” A bruised and sore looking Bardock answered, “But Commander Cabal just gave me the pounding of my life and I’m not really up to flying right now.”
Just then, Tomah and Yam showed up.
“We’re here.” Announced Yam enthusiastically. “Did we miss anything?”
Seripa assured him that they hadn’t missed anything yet, but they needed to hurry if they wanted to get there before all the excitement was over. So they all flew towards the hospital as fast as their bodies would take them. When they landed in front of the hospital, Bardock got a nurse to show them which room Bursa was in and they ran in.
“Awwwwwwwwwww. We’re too late.” Moaned Yam, as he watched the allready born baby snuggling up to his mother, Bursa. Still wet from the birth fluids Bardock’s son looked a little odd with spikes of long black hair sticking up everywhere.
“What‘you gonna call him?” asked Seripa.
“Raditz.” Bursa beamed.
Bardock leaned over the hospital bed in wonder. “Raditz.” A little awkwardly he took in the sight of his wife and son, resting happily together on the bed. ‘He’s so small.’ He thought. “And he looks so funny with all that hair stuck all over the place."
As the happy family adjusted to each other, Celes, Yam, Tomah, and Seripa snuck away.
After so many years of living on Planet Vegeta Celes still hadn’t found a way home and was missing her family so much that even the king noticed. (He had been checking up on her to make sure she wasn’t causing trouble) he set her as teacher over his son who had just scared away his 6th tutor as she was already watching Raditz for Bardock and Bursa…
And on to chapter three!!!!!YAY!!!
