And with that lasting thought, Kira flicked out his lamp and tried to regain slumber.........
The next day was no improvement. Kira tried to focus on Mr. Brixen’s lecture about Buoyancy and Force, but all he could retain of such subjects was the question of how much force it would take for him to pound into Nicol’s respondent body. The boyfriend in question was sitting in the seat directly to Kira’s left, and was apparently bored with such scientific matters as well. The wavy-haired boy lifted his arms into the air for a stretch and for a brief moment, Kira was treated to a glimpse of Nicol’s well toned mid-riff. Unfortunately, good things are to be revered for they never last, and after that moment Nicol swung his arms back into place on top of his desk, the patch of milky skin, disappearing beneath the uniform blouse.
Kira sighed deeply.
“Something wrong, Mr. Yamato? Brixen asked, with the air of a teacher who had the satisfaction of catching a student unprepared.
“Nothing at all, Mr. Brixen. I’m just tired from all that studying I did last night.” Kira smiled, with the air of one who had just saved his butt from a teacher who had caught him unprepared.
Nicol held a hand to his mouth in an attempt to stifle the giggles. Brixen glared at them both before continuing on with the lesson.
It was a quarter past nine when the boys were finally released from their Science professor and Athrun seemed to be in a foul mood not only because of the unbearable heat in the Science room. Kira noticed it once his indigo haired friend brushed by him with eyes downcast and a red bridge flushed across his nose.
“Hey Athrun!” Kira called out to his disgruntled buddy.
“Oh, Kira…..sorry, I didn’t see you there…”
“I noticed.”
Just then, Nicol, Dearka and Yzak ambled out of the classroom. Dearka looked like he had been in a fight because his cheek had a bruise on it and he was clutching his stomach. Yzak looked about ready to kill, as his eyes reflected a fury that was dangerously formidable. Nicol, however, looked confused and almost stunned. Yzak stalked over to where Kira stood. “I absolutely hate that jerk! How could he say it! That ass-hole!”
“What was said and who said it?” Kira asked calmly, yet his eyes darkened.
Dearka was the one who choked out a response. “Blake, of course! Jackass approached Athrun and Yzak in the classroom and started to insult Athrun about last year’s incident…..you know which one. I tried to defend Athrun from his insults and he punched me in the stomach—hurts like hell.” Dearka coughed.
“I’ll take you down to the infirmary.” Yzak offered although it sounded more like a statement. Dearka, unwilling to argue with Yzak in the state of rage he was engulfed in, just kept silent and allowed himself to be braced up by the silver-haired boy. The two limped off to the infirmary in this manner. Once they were out of sight, Nicol turned towards Athrun and Kira. “Who was that boy back there?” He asked, thoroughly bewildered.
Athrun sighed. “Go ahead and tell him everything, Kira. He has to know anyways so he can watch out for himself around the halls.”
Now it was Kira’s turn to sigh. “There are some people in this school who are not so—umm—classy as us…people who, if they see that a teacher is not around the halls or around at all, may attack certain students….”
“But why would they attack someone for no reason? And what has that boy got against you, Athrun?” Nicol’s eyes reflected such innocent confusion that Kira couldn’t help but smile.
“Well, there are some real jerks in this school who like to play games. These games went on a lot last year and apparently we are going to have to put up with them this year too.” Athrun said, with a bitter touch marring his voice.
“Blake is one of those jerks,” Kira began to explain, “last year Athrun and him were partners in a health project and all throughout the time they had in class to work together on it, Blake would trash Athrun—calling Athrun a whore and Yzak’s bitch.” At this Nicol’s eyes widened. “What a horrible person!” He exclaimed.
“That’s Blake! Anyways, one day he went a little too far as to actually touch Athrun and Yzak was working near enough to catch Blake feeling up his boy-friend, so he walked over to tell Blake off and well—Blake didn’t like being threatened….”
“I’ll bet...” Nicol said, with a grimace of distaste.
“….and he set up and hid a camcorder in Yzak’s dorm that night. He caught Athrun and Yzak in the middle of…well…you know…”
Nicol blushed.
“…..and then he sold the tape around campus….”
“What!?” Nicol exclaimed, with a profuse amount of horror.
“Yep,” Athrun jumped in, “and the jackass managed to ruin all my and Yzak’s hallway credentials in one day. I had to put up with all the leers and comments the rest of the year….and our health project.”
“But….didn‘t the teachers at least suspend him?” Nicol questioned.
“Nope! They deny what they don’t notice! That’s the system for you…” Kira answered.
“So, Athrun…what did he approach you about in the classroom?”
“He just walked up to me and started asking me when I planned to start the dorm mating season! He also called me a slut and asked Yzak how tight I was after all that fucking….that’s when Dearka stepped in to the rescue, he called Blake a worthless scumbag who should get a life instead of focusing on ours….then Blake punched him.”
Kira grinned on the inside, //that’s Dearka for you….always the best-friend….and insult artist!// Then something dawned on him. “Hey, Nicol….did he say anything to you?”
“Umm….not really, he might have winked at me before he took off though, but I don’t think it’s anything to worry about. I mean, I wasn’t involved in any of this last year.”
Athrun and Kira, however, did not look so certain. “I’d still watch out for him, Nicol. He’s not the type who’ll just let you get away with being our friend….especially now since your Kira’s boy-friend.” As if on cue, five boys stepped out of the washrooms at the end of the hall and looked at the three friends standing alone together. One of the five boys, the one with dirty blonde hair, seemed to be staring at Nicol with a nasty smirk as they made their way towards the other boys.
“So, this is the lovely, effeminate boy, Nicol Amalfi.” He leered down at Nicol, who was at least four inches shorter. Nicol didn’t reply.
“Leave him alone, Blake.” Kira’s voice was hazardously venomous and it surprised Nicol to hear his lover sound like that. //He really cares about me.// Nicol glanced at Kira with a look that promised eternal loyalty. Unfortunately, Blake noticed it. “Aw, how sweet…Yamato’s playing the protective boy-friend and Amalfi’s playing the loyal whore.” His friends sneered and a few winked at Nicol.
//What is with these people and winking? Do they have some sort of ocular disorder?// Nicol cocked his head to one side and then glared at Blake.
“Don’t look at me like that, Sweet-heart. I’m only an observer.” The blonde smirked and motioned for his posse to follow him while he walked past the boys to leave. Blake’s shoulder brushed against Nicol’s and the hazel-eyed boy was revolted to feel that the other boy’s hand had made its way up to grope his ass. “I’ll be seeing you around, kitten.” Blake whispered and with that, he exited through the oak doors and out of the hallway. Nicol felt his insides turn to ice.
