Disclaimers! Not mine…. The idea is but the characters are not they belong to sunrise and Bandi. And thank you to all the reviewers who encouraged me to continue with it. And yes there will be a lemon later on in later chapters…..and I will say this will not be as long as d.w. or w.w.

Outlaw

Chapter 2

Heero frowned as they staggered through the mud to the house. He watched as Hilde slipped time after time in the deepening mud.
“Stop.” He said.
She turned to him. “What?”
She watched as he grabbed the unconscious man and pulled him up and flipped him over his shoulder. She frowned. “Mr. Yuy. Please take care. He is not a bag of grain and he is injured.”
Heero grunted in response.
“If you do not lose that attitude, I shall send you back to your woman very bruised.”
He stopped and looked at her.
“MR. YUY! It is raining, you are getting soaked, I am getting soaked and this young man is already soaked and chilled to the bone.” She turned on her heel and marched toward the house, expecting him to follow.
Heero watched her for a moment, adjusted the body on his shoulder and followed her in side. Just as he entered the dog shot through his legs and disappeared into a back room.
Hilde was waiting for him by her bedroom door.
“You’re going to put him in your bedroom?”
“Yes. It has a small stove and he needs to be warmed up.”
She pointed to the bed. Heero frowned As he carried the man to the bed. He dropped him unceremoniously on it.
Hilde’s eye got wide and she almost yelled at him once again but she knew it would be pointless. “Go get me that pan of water on the heat stove. And Use a towel it will be hot.”
She waited till he left the room and began to remove the wet, soiled clothes. She frowned as she pulled of his jacket , then his shirt. She looked at the wound in the shoulder , then slid her fingers softly to his waist, finding another wound. This one was more like a whip mark or a bullet burn. She touched it gently. He r fingers found his belt and unbuckled it. She unsnapped and unzipped his pants. She stood and pulled off each of his boots letting then drop to the floor. She pulled off his socks and let them fall. She was just about ready to pull the pants down when Heero returned.
“What are you doing?”
She looked at him, “What do you think I’m doing? I’m removing his wet clothes. Set the water down and Help me get these off.”
He hesitated.
“OH for God’s sake Mr. Yuy. I have seen many naked men.”// Although he is quite nice.\\ “I have to treat his wounds and get him under these covers.”
He sighed and set the water on a small dresser near the bed and went to help her finish stripping the wounded man. As soon as he was naked, Hilde frowned.
“Damn, he’s shot here in his leg also. What has this man done to be chased into Indian territory and to be shot at least twice? Mr. Yuy, What do you make of this?”
She pointed to the wound on his side.
Heero knelt down and examined the wound. He looked up at her.
“This looks like he was whipped. Are there more?”
“Let’s turn him on his side and see. But gently, please Mr. Yuy. He doesn’t need to start to bleed again.”
“Hn.”
Heero placed his hands on the bare shoulders and cringed at the heat that was radiating from this man’s skin. The two of them turned him gently. Hilde gasped. His back was criss-crossed with the red welts from a whip.
Heero looked at her and growled. “Who would do this?”
“A bastard.” She stated with a hard cut to her voice.
They laid him back down and Hilde tended the shoulder wound and then his leg. The young man groaned as she cleaned the wounds. He shivered as she finished up.
Heero helped her cover him nd lnd looked at her.
“What of his back?”
“They are scabbed over, so I will leave them alone . The one I will watch is the one on his side. He must have tore it open in his flight.”
She sighed as she stood and went to the stove. She opened it and through a few more small logs on the small burning in it.
She turned back to Heero. “Would you see to his horse please, Heero? Then go on to bed. I shall not call you too early. It has been a late night.”
He nodded curtly and turned away, then turned back, “Miss Hilde? Will you be alright?”
She smiled and nodded. “Yes, as soon as I put on a pot of tea and get out of these wet clothes. So now scoot.”
She followed him out to the main room of her house. She dropped her wet robe to the floor and stood by her fireplace. It crackled as she knelt down to add more logs to it.
“Good night, Heero.” She reached out and petted the semi wet dog lying in front of the flames. “You too, Mutt.” The dog looked up and licked her hand before putting her head back to the floor.
She looked up and watched Heero leave, pulling the door tight behind him.
Hilde stood and went to the cupboard. She pumped the small hand pump on her counter, waiting for the water to pour out. When she got enough for her kettle she placed it on her small stove. She stripped off her wet night gown and walked through the house naked. As she entered the bed room she heard a voice ask softly.
“Are you and angel? Am I dead?”
She turned to looked at him after she slipped a dry gown on. She walked to the bed and sat beside him, reaching out to touch his heated skin.
“No. I’m not. Do you need something?”
“Thirsty. Is my horse…………?”
“Shhh. It’s taken care of.”
She felt him shiver and whisper, “I’m cold.”
Hilde stood and went for another blanket. She returned with two cups of tea, one doctored with an herb and another blanket draped across her arm. She set down the cup and water and covered him with another blanket.
Then she sat down beside him with the tea.
“It‘s hot , drink slowly.” She put it near his mouth and allowing him to take a drink.
He made a face. “What is this?”
“Something to take away your fever and to help you heal. Drink some more.”
He took another sip, then closed his eyes.
“So do you have a name?”
“Maxwell, Duo, Maxwell.”
“Hilde Schibecker.”
He tried to raise his hand to greet her but he couldn’t. He shivered involuntarily.
She covered herself with a blanket and sat in the chair near the bed. She knew it would be a long night., but she knew she would have to sit up until his fever broke.

~~~~~~
Heero walked through the mud to the barn and looked at the horse. It was a beautiful pony. It was black with white spots on it. It had socks on three of her feet. Heero came up and rubbed her neck. She whinnied and stepped closer to him. He brushed her down and found some oats. He picked up the saddle the young man had dropped off her back. He looked it over and spotted the saddle bags. He opened one and rummaged through it. He was disappointed that he could nothing incriminating in the bags. He glared at the bags knowing the boy in the house had done something. But what and where did he hide it. He left them hanging over the rail by the saddle and walked back to his small room. He looked up at the house as he walked by. // How did she know about Relena?\\ He wondered as he opened the door and stepped in. The room was small and was very warm. He striped down to nothing and sat in front of his fireplace, soaking up the heat and letting his mind wonder to a certain blonde haired school teacher he had to go see. He didn’t want to leave Hilde with this man but in reality he was in no shape to hurt her. So he would talk to her In the morning.
~~~~~~~

Hilde jumped when she heard her ward cough. She sat up and reached out to touch his forehead. He was feeling cooler. He still had a fever but it was less.
Now the cough worried her. She was sure it because he was wounded and chilled. She stood and went into the other room. It was still night time so she restoked the fireplace and went to her little pot bellied stove. She stoked it with logs and waited till it was flaming high. She put on another kettle of water and then carried more logs to the bed room. She stoked the little stove in there until it burned bright red, filling the room with warmth. She shivered as she wrapped the blanket around her. She returned to the living room and pulled the kettle off the stove. She poured a cup of tea fro herself , then looked back to the bedroom. She decided to get another cup and mixed some herbs in the hot water. She carried both cups with her as she returned to the bed room.
“Mr. Maxwell?
Duo groaned and opened his eyes.
“Here drink this. It will help your throat.”
He nodded as she helped him sit up. He took the cup and started to drink.
“It’z good.” He slurred, to her.
“I’m sorry to wake you.”
“Is ok Was awake anyway.” he finished it and handed her back the cup. “Thank you.” He said , softly. He slid down under the blankets and closed his eyes. He whispered “I’m sorry to put you out.”
“It’s nothing. Sleep now.”
She watched him fall back into a deep sleep.
She smiled and stood up returning to her living room / kitchen. She put the cups down and went back to her chair.
She wrapped the blanket back around her and settled back into the uncomfortable chair.

~~~~~~
She opened her eyes when she heard a bird sing by her window. She stood and stretched. She went to her drawers and picked out a pair of jeans and a flannel shirt. She quickly dressed and slipped on her boots. As she put her water on once more she heard her dog growl. She smiled as she went to the door.
She opened it and said in a firm but happy voice. “Good morning, Chief Running Bear. How can I help you this fine morning?”
