PART 2
Lady Une had just returned from lunch with Milliardo and Noin. The three preventers didn’t have much to do because of the newly attained peace. Lady Une sat at her desk and turned on her laptop.
‘This gig is getting old,’ Une thought to herself. The laptop booted up and she checked for messages.
‘None as usual.’ Une sent a message to Relena wishing her a Happy Birthday and that she’d visit soon to give the present she bought. She hit send and swung back on her chair.
“There’s nothing to do! Maybe I should get a real job. There’s really no room for soldiers now,” she thought to herself.
*Beep * “You have mail”
Lady Une looked back at the laptop. A little mailbox popped up in the corner. The letter was signed anonymous.
Dearest Lady Une. I am a friend of the late Treis. He would have wanted you to know about this. Operation Destiny has been re-opened. It must be stopped immediately. Do not let this get out into the open.
Une’s eyes widened. She picked up the phone and dialed Zech’s number.
“Hello?” Zech’s husky voice could be heard on the other end.
Lady Une paused for a moment.
“There’s a problem. I need you and Noin at my office immediately. We’ve got a new mission,” she said, then hung up.
* * * *
“So what’s your plan Chan? You’re in control of this mission,” Duo said. The five pilots got out of the black hoodless jeep and stood outside the large metal fence surrounding the abandoned OZ base. There looked like no one was in the base. There were nohts, hts, nor guards. Wufei was holding a large rolled up poster. He unrolled it on the hood of the car. It was a floor plan of the base. Duo shone the torch on the plans. It was a cool and dark night. The dark suited the pilot just fine.
“These are all the entrances. Here, here and here. The girl will probably come in the main gate here. Trowa and Quatre, you twoin tin this entrance and take out the guards here. Duo, you go through these rooms here. Heero, you and me go through here,” Wufei instructed.
“So basically, first one to the girl wins huh?” Duo joked.
“Something like that,” Quatre said back. “So what are we waiting for? Let’s go!” Quatre grabbed Trowa’s arm and ran to the left side of the base. Duo got back into the driver’s seat of the jeep.
“See you guys inside!” Duo waved as he drove off around the base.
Wufei turne Hee Heero.
“Ready?” Heero said. Wufei smiled and they were off.
Duo drove off to the back of the base. It was a large abandoned base and it took him a couple minutes to drive around to the back of it.
‘Where are all the guards? The spotlights?’ Duo thought to himself. ‘If this girl is so important, then why isn’t there more security?’
He parked the jeep behind a large bush and began to scale the large fence.
* * * *
The five pilots stood around the little girl huddled on the floor. She looked like a scared animal. Around them, were soldiers dressed in black, all unconscious on the floor. The little girl sat with her knees up against her chest. She lifted her head up from her knees and looked up at the five pilots. Wufei pulled the gun from the back of his pants. He cocked the pistol and pointed it at the little girl.
“Wh.. Why are you doing this?” The little girl mumbled. Wufei looked into the girl’s bright green eyes. The light shone off her eyes and made them look like cats eyes. He began lowering the gun slowly.
“I .. I cant do it.” Heero took the gun from Wufei’s hands.
“Dr J said it had to be done,” Heero said. He pointed the gun at the girl’s head. The little girl saw that Heero’s hand was shaking. She stood up slowly.
“Hurry up and get it over with,” She said. “I’m ready to die.”
Heero lowered the gun.
“Wha.. What did you say kid?” Duo said, shocked. “You’re seven years old. Don’t you want to live, go play with the other kids, go back to your parents?”
The little girl smiled.
“I don’t need those kind of pleasures. I’m a child soldier. I’ve been trained fight for peace.. but my training isn’t finished yet. He says I’ll be ready soon as I’m a bit older.” She looked at her hands. “I’m not strong enough yet to fight.”
Duo looked at the other four pilots.
“Guys, we all know none of us have the balls to kill this kid,” he whispered. “Let’s take her back to the safe house and see if she’ll tell us who’s training her, and what we’re going to be up against.”
* * * *
“So when do you want me to come over Heero?” Virg said. Her voice sounded scratchy over the phone because of the long distance call.
“As soon as you can. We kind of need a female around at the moment. We have a slight situation here,” Heero replied.
“Situation? You need me for what?” Virg asked.
“I can’t tell you right now over the phone. Can you drop past my house and bring some clothes and food too?” He said.
“Sure. I’ll be there tomorrow afternoon hopefully,” Said Virg, then she hung up.
Heero sat at the small dining table in the kitchen. He sat opposite Wufei, Trowa and Quatre.
“I know we’re meant to take her out, but none of us have the heart to kill this innocent little girl,” Quatre said quietly.
“She can hardly be called innocent. We wouldn’t be sent out to kill an innocent. She has to be dangerous for Dr J to send all five of us after her,” Wufei said arrogantly. Trowa spoke up.
“She looks innocent to me. She hasn’t done anything to harm us.”
“We’ll see what information she’ll give us and then determine if she’s an innocent or not,” Heero said. “She wont even tell us her name.”
Duo sat on the couch and rested his long legs on the low coffee table in front of him. He grabbed the remote and began flicking channels.
“There’s go to be a good show on! It’s only 9 o’clock!” he muttered. He flicked to the oldies channel. It showed a blonde thin girl fighting vampires.
“I can’t believe they still play Buffy on TV!” He put the remote on the armrest next to him and began enjoying the show. He could tell someone was behind him watching the TV over his shoulder.
“She’s so weak!” The little girl said. She walked around to the front of the couch and sat next to Duo. She was in an over-sized T-shirt Duo had given her to sleep in.
“That girl is so weak. Look how she fights,” The little girl commented. Duo smiled.
“You’re starting to sound like Wufei.” Duo laughed. The little girl yawned and leaned her head on Duo’s arm. She seemed to ignore Duo’s last comment.
“If that was me fighting, I’d hit him from behind there, and get that one while he’s down, and that one in the chest. She’s too slow. She doesn’t know how to fight..” The little girl drifted off. Duo was surprised at what the little girl was saying.
“Who told you about fighting?” Duo asked quietly. He could see the girl was going to fall asleep.
“He did,” She muttered. Duo saw her close her eyes. She was falling asleep. He carefully slid off the couch and placed a pillow under the girl’s head. He picked up a blanket from the cupboard and spread it out over the girl. Now that the wars were over, the pilots sometimes used the safe house to get away for a couple days. It went from being a rickety old unit to a fully furnished house.
Duo sighed and walked into the kitchen. He poured himself a coffee and sat at the table with the others.
“She’s asleep,” He said.
“Did she say anything?fei fei asked. Duo shook his head.
“Virg’ll be here tomorrow. Maybe she can get something out of the little girl,” Heero said. “Maybe the girl would feel more comfortable with another female around.” Duo nodded again.
“Who wants to sleep in the living room with the little girl?” Quatre asked.
“I will,” Duo replied. That way he’d get to watch some TV while he was at it.
* * * *
“Duo?” the little girl said innocently. Duo turned his head from the TV.
“What is it kid?” he asked. The little girl was sitting on the couch again, while Duo sat on the floor, leaning back on the couch.
“I like your hair,” She said quietly. She pulled her knees back up against her chest and hugged them tightly.
“He says I shouldn’t say things like that because it makes me weak. He says soldiers shouldn’t be weak.” Duo sat up next to the little girl and put his arm around her.
“Things like that don’t make you weak. Anyway, a girl your age should be having fun. You’re only seven right? No one can be a soldier at seven anyway. Come on, Lefindfind something on the TV that we can watch together,” Duo said. He handed the little girl the remote. She smiled and began flicking channels.
“D.. Duo, can you do my hair like yours?” She asked quietly. Duo looked at the little girl’s red hair. It was only shoulder length.
“You’re hair’s not long enough to do it long like mine,” He said. The little girl look discouraged.
“Tell you what,” Duo said. “Why don’t I give you two little plaits instead?” The little girl smiled again.
“See!” Duo smiled. “You look pretty don’t you?!” The little girl smiled. She turned and hugged Duo.
“Thank you Duo!” She squealed. She then got off the couch and went to the kitchen. As she walked off, Duo noticed a small black tattoo on the back of the girl’s neck. It was a tiny dragon. Her shoulder length hair was covering it until Duo gave her two plaits.
‘I’ll tell the others about it later, when she’s asleep,’ he thought to himself.
“Mr Quatre, sir.. Can you pass me a glass of water? I’m too short to get it.” She said quietly. Quatre smiled down at the little girl.
“Here you go,” He said as he passed her the glass of water. “And just call me Quatre.” The little girl smiled and went back to the couch with Duo. They watched wrestling together.
“Helloooo!!!!!” A female voice could be heard as the front door swung open.
“Hey Virg!” Quatre replied as he greeted her. She was carrying a large sports bag and a small duffle bag.
“I brought some stuff for you guys!” She said. She and Quatre walked into the living room. Heero, Trowa and Wufei were sitting on the floor watching TV and playing cards.
“Hey, what took you so long?” Heero said as he got up. Virg handed him the large sports bag.
“You told me to bring some clothes and stuff for everyone,” she said. Heero took the bag and placed it in the corner. Virg put her bag down next to her feet and stood facing the couch. She saw Duo and a small red haired girl leaning on duo’s arm. She saw that the little girl had two little plaits. Virg smiled.
“Sister?” she said jokingly as she looked from Duo to the little girl and back.
“Haha, very funny Virg,” Duo exaggerated. Virg looked back at the little girl.
“Hey kid. I’m Virginia. What’s your name?” Virg asked. She tried to say casually. She tried not to talk to the girl like she was a baby. The little girl stood from the couch and bowed her head.
“Nice to meet you Virg,” said the little girl. She then turned and rejoined Duo on the couch. As the little girl had her back to Virg, She saw the dragon tattoo on the back of the little girl’s neck.
“Project Destiny...” Virg said softly. The little girl looked up at Virg. The five pilots all turned their heads from the little girl to Virg.
“What did you just say Virg?” Heero asked. Virg seemed to be daydreaming. She paused for a moment and faced Heero.
“The little girl.. she’s got the same tattoo on her neck..” Virg drifted off again. Heero looked confused.
“Tattoo?” he said. Duo got up from the couch.
“Er.. Yeah, the kid’s got a dragon tattoo on the back of her neck. I was going to tell you guys after. I only saw it a minute ago too.” Duo mumbled. Heero turned back to Virg. Virg continued to daydream.
** flashback**
“I don’t care if she’s too young! Operation Destiny must go according to plan!” We already lost our first soldier because of Treis!” said the tall light haired man. He was standing opposite to a man in a lab coat. The man in the lab coat re-adjusted his glasses with his prosthetic arm.
“This girl is too young to pilot such a machine. It could kill her. I don’t see any point in continuing the mission until she’s older. Besides, Adam and Eve are beginning to plan operation meteor. We might as well involve the girl in that.” Said the lab-coated man.
** end flash back**
“Virg?.. Hello Virg...” Duo waved his hand in front of Virg’s face.
She blinked quickly and shook her head.
“What is it Duo?” She said. Duo looked confused.
“You drifted off. You said something like project Destiny and then drifted off.”
“You also said something about the same tattoo..” Wufei said. Virg took a step back.
“Yeah, I’ve seen that tattoo before. I think I know who gave it to her.”
“Where did you see it?” Duo and Heero said at once. Virg lifted up the hair from her neck and turned around. She bent her head down to reveal the exact same dragon tattoo on the back of her neck. The five pilots stood close to Virg’s neck to examine it. The little girl nudged her way through the pilots.
“You’ve got one too!” She said. “You’re like me.”
* * * *
“How.. er.. who.. er.. how did you get that? And when?” Duo mumbled. The five pilots stood back and Virg turned back around to face them. Virg looked down at the little girl who stood by her side.
“First tell me where she came from,” Virg said. Heero nodded.
“Let’s go sit in the kitchen at the table and we’ll talk there,” he said. The five pilots and the two girls made their way to the kitchen. There wasn’t enough room for the seven of them to sit at the table, so Quatre sat on the kitchen bench near the table.
“So, where’d you find her?” Virg said, pointing to the little girl.
“Dr J instructed us to take her out. He said that she would soon be the reason for the end of peace in the Earth Sphere Alliances. He gave us a photo and instructions, but when it came to assassinate her.. well, we just couldn’t do it. Duo thought we should bring her back home with us instead,” Quatre explained.
“Did Dr J tell you anything else? Like about why she’s a threat, or about anything?” Virg asked. The five pilots shook their heads. Duo spoke up.
“Where’s the tattoo from Virg? And what is project Destiny?” he asked.
Virg looked at each pilot and the little girl one by one.
“You better be ready for this..” She said, and began her story.
“About 25 years ago, long before operation meteor, project Destiny was born. It involved raising a female child to become the perfect soldier. A system was created to be loaded into a certain mobile suit. It was called the ‘Destiny’ mobile suit. For some reason, the system only ‘answered’ to the commands of small children. An infant girl was taken from her parents shortly after birth and was raised by soldiers. She was named M1. When she reached about age 5, she began simulations in the Destiny suit. The system was complex and difficult to master. The child soldier, once mastering the suit, was supposed to go to earth and gain control of the Earth Sphere so her Commander could rule the Earth and space.”
“Why didn’t that happen?.. Her taking control?” Quatre interrupted.
“I’m getting to that..” Virg said. She continued her story.
“When M1 reached the age of 10, the Commander decided that he needed at least two perfect soldiers to gain control. He thought that if M1 failed, then at least he’d have a back up child. Another child was taken from her parents shortly after birth and was raised in pretty much the same way. She was named M2. Both girls were stamped with a tattoo of a dragon on their necks and were called the ‘angels of the dragon’. The Commander picked the name. Some think he’s a crazed lunatic, while some think he’s more influential than Treis himself.
When M1 reached the age of 16, she was pulled out of the program. Treis had fallen in love with her. He pulled her out of the program, which angered the Commander.”
“Who’s this Commander dude?” Duo asked.
“That’s what he told everyone to call him. He’s Treis’s older brother... well, half brother. That’s probably why Treis was the way he was. Anyway, after M1 was pulled from the program and went to Earth with Treis, M2 continued her training. A year later, the operation was stopped. M2 mysteriously disappeared as Treis began to form OZ and began taking control for himself over the Earth. Five years later, when we were all about 12, two people named Adam and Eve began to plan Operation meteor. They began planning and designing the Gundams. They allocated each mobile suit to one of the five scientists, who in turn, gave them to each of you.”
“Something’s missing. You haven’t filled in all the gaps. Were you M2? Who was M1? And where in all this were you and I trained together?” Heero asked. Virg nodded.
“I was M2. A year after M1 was pulled out of the program, Dr J and the other scientists, met two people named Adam and Eve. They told the scientists how they wanted to involve them in Operation Meteor, and how they needed the scientists to create the five Gundams and the Guardian suit. That’s when I was pulled out of the program. The Commander had no idea what was happening until it was too late. I was whisked away during the night and I never saw that place again. I was raised alongside Heero until the accident with the Guardian.”
“Who was M1? And what’s with these Adam and Eve people?” Duo asked. Virg continued. The five pilots sat in awe from the story they were betoldtold. The little girl sat looking up at Virg with amazing interest. She was playing with her two little plaits with her fingers as she listened to the story.
“M2 was Lady Une..” Virg replied. She was cut off by the sounds of the five pilots.
“No way!” Duo shouted. He stood from his chair and leaned his hands on the table. “She was raised as a child soldier?”
“There’s more,” Virg replied. She looked at Heero. “This is about your past Heero.” Heero’s eyes widened.
“Adam and Eve were special agents and engineers from OZ. They were the designers of operation meteor. Adam died during the wars while making the Libra battleship..”
“And Eve?” asked Wufei. “What happened to her?”
“She’s still alive,” Virg replied. “I’m not sure where she is now though. Eve bore a son, years before operation meteor. He was supposed to be introduced into the Destiny program, but Eve wouldn’t allow it.” Virg looked at Heero.
“Heero.. Eve’s your mum Heero,” Virg said. Heero sat fully upright in his seat from shock.
“M.. Mother?” Heero stuttered. “I have a mother?” He said shocked. Trowa looked from Heero to Virg.
“How long have you known all this Virginia?” Trowa asked. Virg looked down at her own hands. “Since forever.”
Duo stood from his seat again. And leaned on the table.
“Why in the hell didn’t you say any of this before? And why didn’t you tell Heero about his mum!??” Duo yelled. Virg didn’t raise her head.
“I don’t know. I didn’t say any of this before because it wasn’t important. The wars are over. I thought that anything about Project Destiny would be lost or destroyed by now. As for Heero’s past, I didn’t see it as my place to tell him. Dr J told me Eve was his mum after -joi-joined you guys after operation meteor had started. The scientists told me not to tell you Heero. I thought they already told you, or were going to tell you,” Virg pleaded with Heero.
Heero sat with the same shocked look in his eyes.
“Why wouldn’t they tell me? Doesn’t she want me anymore?” He mumbled. Virg got up and walked to the living room.
“Where are you going?” Quatre asked.
“I’m going to get my laptop. I think we should all hear this from Dr J himself. Let’s ask him all those unanswered questions,” she replied as she walked out of the room.
The little girl scrunched up her face and began rubbing her forehead.
“What’s wrong kid?” Duo asked. The little girl moaned slightly.
“Oh! It hurts!” she mumbled. She began moaning louder and held her head with her hands on each side of head.ead. Duo, who was sitting next to the little girl, placed his hand on her back.
“What is it kid?” he asked softly. The little girl started to twitch.
“My head!! It hurts my head!!” she screamed.
“What does?” Duo asked. The five pilots became worried. The little girl looked like she was going to have a fit, as if she was epileptic.
She screamed at the top of her lungs and fell off the chair, onto the floor. She continued screaming and holding her head. Her body twitched and shivered all over.
“Do something!” Quatre yelled. Duo tried to calm the girl down.
“Like what?” he yelled back.
Suddenly a piercing scream was heard. It wasn’t the little girl.
“Virginia!” Heero yelled as he jumped over the little girl and Duo and headed for the door. Trowa followed him. As they entered the room, they saw Virg crouched up against the wall next to her backpack. She was leaning back with her knees pulled up to her chest. She held her head in her hands, just like the little girl.
“What is it Virg?” Heero said as he ran towards Virg.
She started rocking back and forth.
“It hurts! My head! Make it stop Heero!” She yelled. She screamed loudly in pain. The little girl could also be heard screaming in the kitchen. Virg painfully tried to look up at Heero. Her eyes were bloodshot and watery.
“Make.. make it st.. stop Heero! You know how..” she mumbled. Heero showed fear in his eyes and shook his head.
“I don’t know how?!” he whimpered. Virg tried to smile.
“You.. you have to knock me o.. out,” She mumbled. She scrunched her face and screamed in pain. Trowa grabbed Heero’s arm.
“Do it! Do what she says Heero!” Yelled Trowa.
Heero nodded and pulled his arm back. He hit Virg on the side of the neck, instantly knocking her unconscious. He helped lower her to the floor so she could lie down. Her body was twitching like the little girl’s, but it began to stop after a few minutes. The little girl’s screaming could still be heard from the kitchen. Heero ran back to the kitchen, followed by Trowa.
“Knock her out!” Heero yelled at Duo.
“No fucking way!” Duo yelled back. “I wont hit the kid!”
Heero grumbled and bent down next to the girl. He raised his arm slightly then hit her on the side of her neck, like he’d done to Virg. The girl fell unconscious and the twitching began to slow. Heero looked up at the American boy.
“Virg was going through the same thing. She told me to knock her out,” Heero looked at the sleeping girl.
“Let’s lie them down somewhere more comfortable.” Heero instructed. Duo nodded. Wufei began walking to the living room.
“Trowa, Quatre, you two help me carry Virg to the bedroom. Let’s leave Duo to carry his new girlfriend to the couch,” Wufei said. Duo glared back at Wufei.
“Oh har har Chan!” he said back. Heero left the kitchen and walked into the living room. He lay out a pillow on the couch and got a blanket for the girl. Duo carried her in slowly. He lay her down on the couch and Heero covered her with the blanket.
“Let’s go see how my little sis is doing,” Heero smiled slightly. Duo nodded and they crept out of the living room and towards one of the bedrooms. As they entered one of the two bedrooms, Wufei was just laying the doona over Virg. Quatre saw Heero and Duo enter the room.
“She’s fine,” he said. “She’s sleeping now. Come on, let’s all get some sleep while we’re at it too huh?” Quatre led the way back to the living room. He crept through the room and picked up the large sports bag Virg brought them. He crept back to the second bedroom. The other four pilots were there and waiting. Quatre dropped the large bag on the bed and opened it. They all began pulling out T-shirts, boxers, shorts or pants to sleep in.
Heero took a white T-shirt and blue boxers and headed for Virg’s room.
“I’ll sleep in Virg’s room. I want to watch over my little sister.” Heero felt like explaining himself. Trowa and Quatre looked at each other.
“We get dibs on this bed!” Quatre squealed quietly. Trowa giggled. Wufei huffed.
“I’m not sleeping near that kid. There’s something not right about her,” He grumbled, crossing his arms. He didn’t want to admit that he was afraid of her. Duo groaned.
“I don’t mind. I’ll watch over the kid again,” He said sleepily. He took a black T-shirt and black boxers and headed out the door.
Wufei looked at Trowa and Quatre.
“I’m sleeping here. I don’t care if I sleep on the floor, as long as I’m not with that girl,” he grumbled and dropped all his stuff on the floor next to the bed.
Duo crept past the bedroom where Virg was sleeping. He opened the door slowly. Heero had already put on the blue boxers and was picking up the white T-shirt to put it on.
“How’s Virg going?” Duo whispered, sticking his head in the door. Heero, still topless, turned around to face Duo. Duo entered the room.
“She’s sleeping soundly I guess. She hasn’t moved an inch,” Heero whispered back. He brushed his finger along Duo’s jaw line.
“Everything’s so different now Duo. I get this weird feeling now when..” Heero drifted off. “For some reason, I want to be with Relena.. but at the same time, I feel bad for leaving you and Chan out of my life.” Duo nodded and looked at Virg loo looked back at the Japanese boy and put his arms around Heero’s waist. He pulled Heero’s waist forward up against his.
“We’re all still in each other’s lives. Just not in the same way as when we were a few years ago. What we had was and is special Heero. We all comforted each other during the wars, but they’re all over now. I guess we’re all just trying to make a new start to our lives now that the wars are over. Don’t worry. I feel the same way. I love Virg, but I also feel bad because I’m leaving you, Wu and Hilde. I don’t know how to break it to Hilde that I don’t love her as much as I love Virg..” Duo whispered.
Heero rested his head on the braided boy’s shoulder and smiled.
“You’ve got my permission to go with my little sis.” He whispered. Duo giggled quietly.
“Thanx Heero,” Duo whispered back. The two boys let go of each other. Duo smiled at Heero. He walked up to the sleeping brunette and kissed her lightly on the forehead. Virg squirmed slightly in her sleep and turned over.
“MM.. Duo..” She mumbled in her sleep. Duo stood upright and looked at Heero. Heero shrugged.
“Goodnight Maxwell.”
“Goodnight Heero.”
Duo crept around the living room as quietly as he could. He took two blankets and a pillow from the cupboard. He lay a thick blanket on the ground next to the couch. He placed the pillow down and lay down on the spread out blanket. He then covered himself with the remaining blanket.
‘Nice and comfy!’ he thought to himself. He looked up at the couch. He couldn’t see the little girl because he was on the ground.
‘I wonder what’s going on with you two girls..’ Duo frowned. ‘Dr J better answer a lot of questions tomorrow!’
Heero lay under the covers next to Virg. He didn’t touch her. He didn’t want to risk waking her up. He lay on his side looking at the brunette sleep. He had a million thoughts zipping through his head at once.
‘I have a mum? Why didn’t I know about it sooner? Does Virginia have a mum? How do we get the little girl home?...’ His mind was racing. He was tired of thinking.
He looked at Virg, the girl who he thought of as his sister.
‘So this is how Angels are born. My Guardian angel was born like this.’ He gently kissed Virg’s forehead and lay back down by her side.
‘Goodnight baby sis.. my Guardian Angel.’
Heero’s eyes became droopy and eventually he fell asleep.
** Heero dreaming - flash back (from ‘guardian angel’) **
“I love you Heero..”
Heero sat back up. That was the first time anyone had said they loved him. He didn’t know how to react. He loved Virg too, but hearing the words opened up something inside him... opened his heart.
Heero looked into Virg’s dark green eyes. She sat up in front of Heero and put her hands on his shoulders and placed her forehead on his, looking right into the Japanese pilot’s eyes.
“I’m sorry Heero. I probably shouldn’t have said it..” Virg looked down and pulled away from Heero. She sat on the end of the bed staring at the wall.
“No Virg. You didn’t do anything wrong. I’m in shock because no-ones ever said that to me before. I’ve never known love before you came along. I always shut it out, but you changed me Virg. You helped me to bring back the old me, full of emotions and love. I..” Heero began to choke on his own words. “I.. Love you too Virg.” Heero felt like a fog had been lifted, and he felt like he could say the three words over and over again.
“I love you Virg,” Heero said with more confidence. Virg turned around and smiled.
“I love you too Heero. Always have and always will.” Virg’s eyes went back to their bright green colour. Heero watched as the colour changed slowly.
** end flashback **
Heero’s dreams began to wander.
‘Virg is like a sister to me. Still, there’s so many secrets I don’t know about her.’
He began to let his dreams wander further. He dreamt Virg was standing in front of Heero in a long dark corridor.
“I cant let you pass Heero,” She insisted. She pulled a gun from the back of her pants and cocked it. She then pointed i his his head.
“There are things here that we shouldn’t have seen. No one needs to see this place. Emily’s dead because of it. We have the chance to leave here and never come back; But only if we leave now Heero.”
Heero shook his head. Virg continued.
“I’ve set the explosives to blow everything up. This place should never have been created.”
“No. I won’t leave. I need the disk!” Heero shouted. He tried to pass Virginia but she placed the end of the barrel of the gun on his chest.
“Why Heero? If we go back, we’ll both be killed. Is that what you want Heero? To die like this?” A gun fired. It wasn’t the gun Virg was holding. Her body fell against Heero’s. He held her up against him as her body began to fall limp.
“Virginia!” he shouted. He looked up from the limp body and down the narrow dark corridor. Someone was hidden in the shadows.
“Who are you!?” Heero shouted. His hands were covered in the blood that was pouring from Virg’s back. The figure down the hallway walked closer towards Heero. The man was tall with light brown hair. His black eyes looked into Heero’s. The pistol used to shoot Virg, pointed straight at Heero’s forehead.
“Who are you to destroy my dream?” Said the tall man. Heero looked right into the barrel of the gun. He then looked down at the dying brunette. With all her strength, Virg looked up at Heero. Blood trailed out of the side of her mouth.
“Run,” she whispered. Heero looked back up to the gun that was aimed at him. The gun fired.
Heero gasped as he shot up in bed. He looked around the room.
‘I’m not dead,’ he thought to himself. He looked to his right at the stirring brunette next to him. Her eyes opened slowly, still not comprehending she was awake.
“H.. Heero?” Virg mumbled. The sweaty Japanese boy lay back down next to Virg.
“Bad dream,” Heero muttered. Virg smiled, her eyes still droopy. She moved along the bed so she could hug Heero. She grumbled.
“Ew, you’re all sweaty!”
Heero got out of the bed slowly and went to the foot of the bed where his green singlet was hanging off the side of the bed. He took off his sweat covered T-shirt and put on the green singlet. He then re-joined Virg in the large double bed. Virg lay her head on Heero’s chest and put her arm around the muscular boy’s waist.
“You’re safe now. I wont let anyone hurt you Yuy,” Virg mumbled. Heero put his arm around her and leaned his head on hers.
“Likewise baby sis.” He kissed the tired brunette on the forehead. “Hey is that how you got your scars on your back? From that guy?”
Virg kept her eyes closed, but he could see her brow furrowing. “Which guy? My scars are from the accident in my Guardian mobile suit remember?” she mumbled. It was obvious she was falling asleep again. Heero continued to watch Virg. “Get some sleep. We’ll talk about everything in the morning.” He whispered. He looked down at Virg, but she was already asleep.
* * * *
* * * *
* * * *
* * * *
* * * *
“How.. er.. who.. er.. how did you get that?
