Triad
A/N: Well, here's the follow up to the last piece.
Triad
When things started, everyone just assumed that Nina was joining Nicholas and Victor because they were two of the few people who completely understood her and her background. Some reporters, who were still obsessed with the fuhrer’s “wayward” son—as they liked to term him, but no one who really knew him could consider Nicholas for a second—thought that it was his way of putting Victor on a back burner. The theories began from the first date until the day Nina moved in with them.
And now, as the two men stood outside of the bathroom door, holding hands and waiting, it seemed ridiculous that anyone, even themselves, could have thought it would be anything but the perfect triad that they were now.
“Well?” Nicholas asked as he ran a hand through the thick black curls of his lover’s head. “What do you think?”
“I half-expected to find myself the odd man out. I’ve seen you and Nina talk about alchemy with one another.”
Nicholas smiled down at the dark-haired man, too much pointless rejection in grade school had left him somewhat insecure, but really, he should have known better. No one would come between them even in the sexual sense that his always active, constantly filthy mind also added to that meaning, unless they wanted them to. “You didn’t realize she was a technology buff, did you?” he asked, smiling as Victor turned to look up at him.
“She can translate for both of us, now,” Victor said, taking Nicholas’s automail hand that wasn’t currently wrapping itself in the dark curls and lacing their fingers together.
“That would be helpful,” Nicholas answered back. “When you go on about work I only catch about every other word.”
“Yeah, well, I get even less when you get going about alchemy.”
Nicholas smiled and brought Victor’s hand up to his lips. “Sounds like we’re going to have to go on at least a second date.”
“I still don’t like this, Nicholas,” Victor said. Nicholas moved closer to his lover and traced the lines of his face. “I’m worried about both of you. How can you be sure this will work?”
The blond rose on his toes and kissed Victor. “Because you have to trust me. Trust us.” His black eyes scanned every inch of the olive-toned face. “I can’t lose another one. Not if I know that I could prevent it.”
Victor wrapped his arms around his lover and held him close. “We don’t even know for sure.”
“Nina,” her father said, lips pursed and arms crossed at his chest. “You have got to let those two boys have some time to themselves. I know you enjoy their company, but give them a break for a while. They’re a couple.”
Nina hadn’t been entirely truthful with her fathers about why she was spending this much time with Nicholas and Victor, but she thought they would disapprove, or somehow it wouldn’t meet their image of what they wanted for her. She just wanted to enjoy the time with the two older men before considering things like ramifications or others’ opinions.
She saw her dad looking at her too, eyes concerned behind the thick-rimmed glasses he always wore, and she knew she just couldn’t keep pretending this didn’t bother her, not telling them.
She sighed. “I’m not crashing their time together, I’m dating them,” she said calmly, running a hand through her short brown hair.
“Nina, I know you still don’t understand some things,” her dad said, “but I thought for sure you understood that when two people are in a relationship they don’t date other people.”
“They do if you ask them to and they agree,” Nina said quietly, barely looking up through her choppy bangs to see the surprised expressions on both of their faces.
When the bathroom door opened, two expectant faces turned toward the brunette leaving it. “Nina?” Nicholas asked, holding out a hand to her and pulling her close to him and to Victor.
The two older men pulled Nina between them and wrapped arms around her. “Well?” Victor finally asked. He then leaned down and kissed the top of her head.
“Five minutes,” she responded back. She then looked up at Nicholas, who simply smiled down at her. “I still think you’re absolutely crazy.”
“What other options do we have, Nina? If you are, we already know what will happen if I don’t do anything.” He played with the woman’s brown hair, carding his hands through it, while he felt Victor’s arm at his back tightening. “This is at least doing something.”
“You want to ask her to come and join us, don’t you? You have to be imagining what it would be like with someone who knows and understands us both so well.” Nicholas asked Victor as he was in the process of removing the taller man’s shirt. “Tell me, how would you want it, Victor?” He bit and nibbled at the man’s collarbone and neck. “Both of us in her at once? Moving against one another?” he asked, grinding his hips against his lover’s. “You in her and me in you, pumping, pushing, riding, being ridden? Or maybe knowing that with each thrust…” He ground his hips again as he proceeded to move to the other man’s mouth. “you push me deeper inside of her?”
Victor groaned and grabbed either side of Nicholas’s head, kissing him, biting his bottom lip. The other man’s hand ventured lower, beneath Victor’s waistband, moving down to cup the engineer’s hardened member.
Nicholas rubbed his automail hand between Victor’s shoulder blades as they waited.
“I’m still pissed at the two of you,” the eldest of their triad said. “You two could have told me. I thought you had taken your pill,” he said to Nina. “And you… this is the most half-baked idea I think you’ve come up with.”
The blond shook his head. “You’ll just have to trust me,” he repeated again.
“The pill was a mistake on my part,” Nina said. “I swear to you. The rest of this, blame him for it.”
Nicholas playfully pinched the young woman on her behind for the comment, making her squeak and glare at him. “Stop it,” she said.
“How do you know it was me?” Nicholas asked, trying to sound as innocent as possible.
“I just do,” she replied back, grabbing his arm and giving it a playful squeeze.
Victor rolled his eyes and finally swatted them both on their butts.
Three bodies moved as one, Nicholas sandwiched between both of his lovers. He reveled in the feeling of Nina riding him from above and Victor pounding him from behind. He was absolutely certain that he was bruising the other man’s thighs as he held onto him with his left hand for leverage.
Nina was kissing at his neck while her hands were beyond him, curled tightly in Victor’s hair. Victor’s own hands were busy, one fondling Nicholas’s nipple and the other on Nina’s breast, occasionally trailing down to the blond’s own hand at her hip.
They were a rainbow of colors, black on olive, yellow on gold, chocolate on alabaster, and they moved together as one.
Nina’s noises were so different from the two men’s, her tiny whimpers and sometimes animalistic growls just fueled things on until finally, Nicholas, then Victor, and finally Nina came and lay in a heap on the bed.
They got playful again, like it had been when they first invited her to move in. There was pinching, tickling, teasing. All of it leading them closer to the bedroom. Nicholas finally pinned the former homunculus to the bed, kissing down her throat and toward the still present oroborous. Victor was busy tormenting the woman with light touches to her stomach and dipping just slightly lower.
“Stop…” she half-pleaded. Part of her obviously wasn’t asking them to quit. “Is this how you treat someone who might be pregnant? Torture them?”
And with that, both men stopped and grew sullen. Nicholas because he knew what he’d have to do, Victor because he was still so unsure of the decision Nicholas had already made.
There had been blood, not the small spotting that Nicholas’s aunt and sister had prepared them for. There was a lot of blood.
And pain, the noises Nina had made had caused Victor’s blood to run cold. He’d been the one holding her while Nicholas called the two women in the family. Victor had heard that some women had miscarriages that occurred so smoothly, they barely noticed, but of course Nina wouldn’t be so lucky.
Now, sitting with Aideen looking seriously at the three of them, Nicholas and Victor both flanking Nina’s side, Victor suspected she was not going to be lucky in the news today either.
“Nina,” she said, averting her eyes from the young woman that both of them loved—even if the ever amorous Nicholas had said it to her first—“We’ve done every possible test, and it’s your body, it can carry the baby for a short period of time, but then, it becomes unable to continue to support the new life. From the bloodwork, and my own observations of you during the two months you were carrying, it seems that everything that could have been out of balance went out of balance.”
And then, Nina broke, crying, and while Victor and Nicholas tried to comfort her, they both tried to comfort one another. Even Aideen, who wasn’t overly affectionate with anyone outside of her blood family came over and wrapped her arms around them all, repeating how sorry she was.
Nicholas put his hand on Victor’s and squeezed. “Things will turn out okay,” he said. “I promise.”
Nina looked at the clock and stood from the bed. “It’s time.”
The two men followed her, going into the bathroom and waiting to see what the little test said.
“It’s blue,” Victor said, sounding terrified.
“I’m pregnant,” Nina said. She looked over at Nicholas. “Do the transmutation now,” she told him. “Before I start… Just do it now.”
Nicholas nodded and kissed them both before beginning to draw the elaborate symbol on the woman’s abdomen.
