Hilde looked at Trowa as they hurried to the docks.
"Trowa, what is it? Why does he need me? I mean nothing to him."
His grip tighten on her arm. "Why then does call out your name in his pain?"
She frowned. "I...... I don't know. Pain, why is he in pain?"
"He was wounded in a fight with Zechs Marquise."
She gasped. "Oh......"
"We must hurry. I want to move him from his quarters." He looked at her. "Can we move him to your house?"
She stopped causing him to stop also. "Are you taking over as captain? Taking his position from him?"
He looked at Hilde with surprise on his face. "I would never do that to my captain. He is loved and respected by me and the rest of his men." He started to walk again. "I don't want him on that damp ship. How would he get well? Besides, I only trust you take care of him."
Hilde looked at the ground and mumbled "I'm sorry."
"No need. I would think the same thing if I were you."
They walked the rest of the way in relative silence.
As they climbed up the gangplank to the ship Trowa waved several men toward them. He led Hilde to the Captain's quarters and let her in.
She heard him telling them that they would be taking Duo to her house. She stood in the doorway till her eyes adjusted to the semi-darkness. She saw Duo lying on his bunk, covered with dirty blankets. She hurried to his side and pulled them off. She looked at his wounds, gently touching his hot dry skin. He had a fever. The wounds were red but not extremely infected. She traced her finger along the stitches on his side.
He moaned her name softly.
She whispered to him, "I'm here, Duo."
"I'm dreaming , right?" He whispered back.
"No," She said ,as she raced his jaw with her finger. "I'm right here."
He opened his eyes. "Hilde. It's you."
She gazed into his glazed pain filled violet eyes. "You have been sick awhile?"
"A few days I think."
"It was the Pirate?"
"Hm." He replied, his eyes closing again.
Hilde stood to her feet and opened the door. "We must take him to my home. I shall take good care of him."
None of the men protested that this woman was taking their captain to her home. They knew her feelings for the braided man.

Hilde stood as they placed him on the bed. Surneurned her back as Trowa pulled off the rest of his clothes and threw them on the floor in a small pile. He pulled the blankets up over him and turned back to Hilde.
She had slipped in and was picking up Duo's clothes. She slid his boots under the bed and carried the rest out, to be washed with hers. Trowa watched her. He looked at the sleeping man. He grunted. Damn fool he could do worse. Trowa followed Hilde down the stairs. He stopped as she placed the clothes in a pile. He watched as she swiped a hand over her eyes , giving her a minute, he spoke.
"DO You want me to fetch the Doctor?"
She sniffed and nodded. He turned and left the little house.

Hilde heated a small pan of water and carried it up stairs. She sat down by Duo and wet the wash cloth. She placed it gently on his forehead. Then she gently brought it around his face. She hoped Trowa would bring Duo's shaving gear and some other clothes for him.
She finished and went down stairs. Her heart was heavy. This was pure torture for her. To have him so close and yet out of reach. She was nothing to him. She dumped the dirty water and lit the stove again to heat a kettle. Soon Trowa and the doctor would come. She took a deep breath and knew she had to be strong.

Duo opened his eyes and looked around the room. He felt the crisp sheets and the soft blankets. He blinked and tried to get out of the bed. All he preceded to do was fall out.
"Shit."

Hilde heard a loud thump and ran up stairs to see a very naked Duo sitting on the floor. He looked up at her. He grinned sheepishly.
" I should have known I'd be here."
She gulped. "You don't want to be here? I can arrange for...."
"No, I don't mind. Uh... could you help me back in bed?"
Hilde blushed as she hurried over to help him back in. After she got him in and covered back up, she checked his wounds, satisfied he hadn't tore any of the stitches. She leaned over him, her face was inches from his. She licked her lips wanting to taste his so bad. She jumped a bit when he place his hand on her shoulder. She shivered as his hand ran to her neck and pulled her to his lips. He kissed her and she gasped allowing his tongue into her mouth. His other hand slid up the front of her dress to her breast, his fingertips caressing the taunt flesh though the cotton material. She placed her hands on his shoulders, then he broke the kiss and pushed her away.
"You are a temptation I can not afford."
Hilde stepped back, blinking. "I’m sorry."
She sobbed and turned from him, running down the steps.
He opened his mouth to make her stay, but she was gone before he could. He sighed. He had her heart, and she had his. Too bad she didn't know it yet. He had to get the sea out of his blood. It called him and he wanted to go less and less. He wanted to stay here. What he wouldn't give to take Hilde in his arms and make love to her all night.
He sighed and plopped back in the bed sheets.

Hilde wiped her eyes. * Damn it. I will make the best of this! I will! I will be strong. OK! He doesn't love me , he loves the sea. I would just be a stopping off point for him.. Could I live with that? Maybe.. * She sighed. I’ll be near him until then I'll contain my tears. *
She nodded and went into the kitchen . It was warm from the stove, her kettle getting ready to whistle. She smilled and poured two cups. She dunked the bags, letting them seep, as she gathered up sugar, honey ,and a small lemon. She put everything on a tray and carried it to the bedroom. She just would stay arms length form him. She wouldn't be a temptation. She had to show him that it was OK. That she understood. She couldn't hold him that way. Holding her head high she carried the tea up the stairs.
When she entered the room, she saw his eyes were closed. She quietly turned to leave, not wanting to disturb him.
"Hilde?"
"Hm. I was just leaving. I'll let you sleep. You will need to sleep to get better and back to your ship. And soon the Doctor will be here to look at your wounds."
"No," He murmered. "Don't go. Do I smell tea?"
"Mm. Yes."
She brought it over to he bed and sat next to it. She set the tray on the small table next to the bed. They had talked lots of times before but neither said too much as they sipped the tea. After the pot was empty, Hilde stood and gathered all the items up. She looked down at the half a sleep man. Her heart ached. She sighed and walked out, only to meet Trowa and Sally.
"Sally? Where's the doctor?"
"Couldn't come, He sent me instead."
Hilde nodded continued her way down stairs.
A few minutes later,Sally came down with Trowa.
She handed Hilde a few packets of a white powder.
"Mix this in a hot liquid for pain, Use it sparingly. It's an addictive drug, OK?"
Hilde nodded and placed the packets in the cupboard.
"I'll come back in a few days and check. I had to remove the ball from his shoulder so clean it everyday."
Sally left and Hilde turned to Trowa.
"How long will you be able to stay?"
"I will try to stay until he is well."
She nodded. She watched Trowa leave, checked on Duo once more and then headed to the Rusty Nail. She still needed to work, but maybe she could get out of there a few hours early.

Duo sat up in the bed. He was feeling stronger, thanks to Hilde. The longer he stayed with her the more he wanted to stay. He stood , wrapping the blanket around him and walked to the window. He looked out at the fading daylight. He wondered if she worked tonight or if she was at the market. As he gazed out the window he saw her come up the walk, caring a couple of cloth bags. He stayed to the window until he heard her come up the stairs.
He turned to face her as she came in the door.
She stopped, seeing standing by the window. "What are you doing up?" She questioned as she walked over to him. She took his arm and pulled him to the bed. He grabbed her arm and pulled her to him.
"Hilde." He said, huskily. He let the blanket drop as she rested against his chest. He tilted her head up and Kissed her.
She wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him back, with passion. his fingers reached around and started to unbutton her dress. As her skin was exposed he caressed it with his fingertips.
She shivered as each button was opened.
Duo pushed it off her shoulders, letting it fall to the floor, leaving the camisole and the petticoat still on. He ran his fingers down he side and pulled it off with on swift pull, exposing her breasts to him. He slowly to both them in his hands and caressed them, rubbing his thumbs over the tense hard nipples. She let out a soft moan. he slid his hands down to the waistband of the petticoat and patiloons. He grabbed the drawstring that held them and released them. They pooled at her feet. He slid his hands her her body stopping at her center. He slid his fingers over her mound and slipped two fingers between her folds. She grasped his arms as he delved into her wetness, sliding in and out, causing her to writhe and almost collapsed to the floor. He never removed his fingers as he moved her to the bed. He moved them even as he got her on her back. She closed her eyes and cried out as he reached her pressure point.
He rubbed until she arched her back and cried out his name.
He then returned to her mouth kissing her over and over.
She could feel his hard member brushing against her leg. She reached for it and stroked it, feeling it jump in her hand. Duo reached down and pulled her hand away. He moved so that he was between her legs, his organ resting at the opening of her sex. She held back a cry as he pushed in.
He mumbled a soft sorry as he pushed in all the way, until he could go no farther. She bit back the tears the threatened to fall, but on e slipped out. Duo stopped and leaned into her neck. She gripped the back of his head and pulled him to kiss him. After they released the kiss, Hilde whispered to Duo. "Move."
He nodded and began to push into her. Soon they had a rthym going , moving together almost perfectly.
Hilde held her breath as she came squeezing herself around Duo. She heard him whisper her name as he clutched tightly to her. She felt him shudder and come into her. She felt the warm liquid fill her and him collapsed on her. She sighed as she ran her hands down his back. He kissed her lips and snuggled down into her neck. He sighed. He was going to make love to her all night. He didn't care. His fingers found his way to the nipples of her breasts and started the process all over again.

The sun was peeking through the window when they snuggled down into each others arms and to sleep. Duo pulled Hilde to him and held her.
"Hilde. I will stay here with you. I can't hear the sea calling me anymore. What I want is you and only you. You have showed me something I think I have missed. I want it with you."
"Are you sure about this ? I don't want you to feel I tricked you into this. I truly love you and if you feel the sea is your home I will understand if......" He stopped her talking by kissing her.
"No more talking. I'm staying . You can't be rid of me. I love you, Hilde." He closed his eyes. "I’m sure Trowa would gladly take the ship. I just have one problem and that's the pirate." He said , softly " I want to go with you to the Rusty Nail , tonight."
"Are you up to it? " Then she giggled. "Oh ,silly me! Look what we did all night!"
He ran his fingers along her cheek and closed his eyes.

They entered he Rusty Nail, holding hands. Several of the sailors looked up and grinned. One of the waitresses mumbled, "It's about time."
Heero Yuy stood and waved them over. Duo sat as Hilde went over to get ready to work.
He took Duo's hand and shook it.
"Well, I see you took the plunge."
"Yeah., I think I'll give the ship over to Trowa. I hope he and the men will understand."
Heero grinned and said." Bet it won't be a problem."
Duo sighed as Hilde brought over two tankards of beer to Him and Heero.
"Have you heard anything of the Pirate?"
Heero shook his head , then looked at Duo. "Why does it worry you? I heard you tromped him good."
Duo nodded. "He said it wasn't finished. I'm sure he wants revenge." He looked at Heero , then across to Hilde. "I Don't want him to come here."
Heero nodded. "Then stay with her and by her side. It is dishonorable for a man to attack a woman. Death in my eyes."
Duo took a drink and looked back at Hilde.

OK that was the chapter from hell!!!!!!!!!! I wanted to finish it but you know what there will be one more chapter. I have established that Duo will stay with Hilde! Yea! Now, he has to protect her and the town from the Pirate Zechs Marqueis! and he will have help! Hey that was a summery of the next chapter.....cool!
