Chapter 1 part 2-Heartbreak

Author's note: Since I was asked so nicely to continue i think I will... Anyways there is a reason my chapters are so short. I barely have the time to type the whole things at one time so I break it into parts. ^^ Enough about me and my problems on with the story ^^ Oh! you get a special update. TWO PARTS!!
Chapter 1 part 2-Heartbreak
Heero’s broken heart shattered into a million pieces. He stared up at Duo dumbfounded. “What do you mean?” The hope in his eyes went out and dullness took its place.
Duo reached to touch Heero’s cheek and Heero unconsciously leaned into the touch. Duo closed his eyes unable to take in the sight of the love-starved boy. “Now that the war is over we have the rest of our lives to live out. Other things to experience and different things to explore…” His voice fell as he took in Heero’s crestfallen expression. “ I don’t want to be with you anymore.” Softening the blow he reached out again.
Heero flinched back avoiding Duo’s touch. The words echoing throughout his head. “I don’t want you as my lover… don’t want you…” –Yeah.- his inner demons and fears kicked in adding more pain. –Who would want you ne? You’re just a useful tool for war nothing more. Nobody could love a thing who’s only talent is to kill ne?-
“We can still be friends.” Duo said. “Anyway you can have the flat I’ll go sleep over at Taki’s”
Heero jerked back as if he were slapped at the sound of the name.
“Hey look on the bright side. You can now discover what you want, not what other people want for you.” Duo dropped his key on the table and left never once looking back at the forlorn form watching in the window.
“But you are what I want… Only you… Duo…” Heero’s voice faded into the darkness of the house that matched the darkness in his heart. Silver tears trailed down and ashen face in the moonlight. One question floating through the broken mind. –Why doesn’t anyone want me?-

The next day at Preventers HQ Duo made a show of avoiding Heero and gossip spread throughout the building. Heero who was already unpopular with his associates was labeled the ‘bad guy’. They not only spoke about the breakup they did it so Heero could hear.
One conversation stuck with him all day before he went home. And even in the relative peace of his home the words still tormented his already broken mind
//Flashback//
Heero was walking down the hallway towards the bathroom, the only solace left to him in his work place. When tidbits of a conversation reached him.
“Predictable…” Oichi said.
“Yeah, “said Anna. “I don’t know why else would someone date a thing like that, unless they felt sorry for it of course?”
“You’re right”
“Of course I am! How could anyone feel for him much less love a person like that? Plus Duo’s much too good for him…” Their voices died down as they continued to walk down the hall.
//Flashback//
Heero blanched as the entire conversation came back to him. –They are right.- he thought. –How could anyone love a thing like me?-
Curling up in the fetal position on his bed hugging Duo’s pillow so Duo’s scent filled his senses as he fell into a restless sleep.
