PART 3

“Lady Une!” shouted the platinum blonde. “Are you alright now?” Milliardo got up from his seat next to the bed. Lady Une blinked at the blonde standing over her bed. The door opened and a man in a white coat, holding a black bag came in the room.
“What happened to me?” she asked. Zechs sat on the side of the bed.
“You almost had an epileptic shock. It stopped after a minute though. I called the doctor to come and see why.”

Lady Une got up from the bed.
“I’m alright,” She said sternly. “I don’t need a doctor. Let’s get on with the mission. Have you been in contact with Virginia?” She asked Zechs. He bowed his head.
“No my lady. I’m going to try again today. Do you still want me to make the call? Or would you prefer to do it?” He asked.
Lady Une ushered away the doctor and closed the door.
“I’ll call her.” She walked to the window. The artificial lights of the colony hadn’t come back on yet, which means it was still late. “I’ll wait till morning.”

Zechs nodded and headed for the door.
“It hasn’t happened since I left the destiny program.” Une said aloud. Zechs was just about to grab the door handle when he stopped. He walked upto the window where Une was standing.
“What do you mean?” Asked Zechs. Une continued to look out the window at the bright lights of the city.

“When I was still part of the destiny program, one of the flaws in the destiny system was that the pilot would sometimes get epileptic shocks. I don’t know why I just had one now. No doubt Virginia has had one too,” Une replied. Zechs looked confused.

“I thought you said the Destiny suit was just like the Zero suit?” Zechs asked. Une nodded.
“Its system is a little bit more complicated. The zero and Epyon systems were simpler models to that of the destiny suit.”
“Simpler models?!” Zechs exclaimed. “The Epyon and Zero systems were the hardest to master.. how can Emanuel make you, along with these girls try and master a system like the destiny system?”
Une still hadn’t moved from where she was standing.
“I don’t know, Zechs.. I don’t know.”

“Morning miss Virginia,” Whispered the little girl. She was sitting at the dinner table where she’d had her fit the night before. She was eating fruit loops. The little girl smiled as Virg walked into the kitchen. It was still early and Virg shuffled to the cereal box without picking up her feet.
“Morning Kid,” Virg mumbled. “Aren’t you tired? How can you be up so early? It’s 6 am!” The little girl smiled.
“I don’t get much sleep. Never have.”

Virg took a bite of her fruit loops.
“I used to be like that. So, what’s your name kid?” Virg asked. The little girl swallowed the cereal that was in her mouth.
“They call me Emily,” She replied innocently. Virg nodded.
“Hi Emily,” She replied. “So do you remember when you first started training with the commander?”

The little girl thought about it for a minute.
“MM.. it wasn’t long ago. I think it’s been about 3 months. Mum said that Emanuel would look after me and that I’d become a great soldier if I was good.”
“Who’s Emanuel?” Heero asked as he walked in the door. The two girls at the table looked up at Heero.
“Morning!” The little girl replied. “Emanuel is the Commander.”
Heero looked at the girl and back to Virg.
“The other’s are waking up now. When they get here, we’ll continue thonveonversation okay?” he instructed. The two girls nodded.

Duo took a large bit out of his jam covered toast.
“So how come they didn’t take the kid when she was a baby?” He muffled. He hadn’t finished eating the toast that was in his mouth. He was looking at the laptop as it was booting up.
“I guess we’ll have to ask Dr J that one,” Virg replied.
“So do you want to tell us your name now kid?” Duo looked at the kid.
“My name’s Emily,” she smiled. Heero’s eyes widened. He remembered his dream.

** flash back to his dream **
“There are things here that you shouldn’t see. No one needs to see this place. Emily’s dead because of it. We have the chance to leave here and never come back; But only if we leave now Heero.”
** end of flash back**

“Heero.. Yo! Heero!” Duo waved his hand in front of Heero’s face. “Yo! We’re going to talk to Dr J now!” Heero nodded his head and looked at the screen on the laptop.

“Well, I haven’t seen you six in a long time.” Dr j said as the connection began. The pilots all decided not to let Dr J see that the girl was still alive, so they told her to go watch TV in the living room.

“This isn’t a casual chat J,” Heero said sternly. “This is about project destiny.” Dr J looked straight to Virg.
“This is why I told you pilots not to involve her. You’re opening too many doors by involving her.” J said. Virg got annoyed.
“Don’t talk like I’m not here J! You raised me. Why did you think I couldn’t handle this?” She yelled. Dr J’s face didn’t change.
“Because I knew that if you knew who the girl was, you’d stop the guys from killing her. I was going to send the others to destroy the base where Emanuel is continuing Project Destiny after assassinating the girl so that they wouldn’t see the link between the two.”

“We’re not idiots J!” Duo huffed. “So don’t treat us like we are.”
Dr J nodded.
“What do you want no know?” He sighed. Heero spoke up.
“Everything. Where Project destiny is now, how to get the girl home and about my mother.” He said.

Dr J’s eyes widened at the mention of Heero’s mother. He looked straight at Virg again. She raised one eyebrow back at J.
“I told them everything J. So spill. Why were you guys keeping so many secrets from us? We want to know everything.” She said.

Quatre explained the situation with Emily and the seizure the two girls had. He also explained everything that Virg had told the pilots earlier.

Dr J sighed.
“I guess there’s not much else to tell. Virg pretty much knows all the details. The base never moved. Emanuel was stupid enough to continue his operations at the same base. As for the girl, I’ll send you the details about her family and where they are. Emanuel wanted to speed up the operations so he took a 7 year old girl from her parents by force. Her parents are ex Oz soldiers.”

“What about my parents?” Heero asked. The scientist re-adjusted his glasses.
“Eve is working on a satellite in the L2 cluster. It’s the only satellite that’s achieved full cloak. I’ll send you the access codes for it once I talk to her. I can’t give out classified information.”
“What’s she doing on the satellite?” Trowa asked.

“She’s an engineer and in command of the military aspects of the mission.” J replied.

“Mission?” Duo asked. Dr J nodded.
“Not even the president of the Earth Sphere knows about it. It’s a private organization that continues to monitor any possible threats to the peace of our society. The other four scientists, along with myself and Howard are at this satellite now.”
Heero’s eyes widened.
“Get my mother now!” Heero shouted. “I wantsee see her!”

Dr J shook his head.
“Sorry Heero, I can’t do that.” Heero banged his fist on the table.
“And why not!? Why didn’t you tell me about her earlier? Doesn’t she want me?” He yelled.
Dr j shook his head.
“She loves you dearly Heero. We never told you earlier because we thought it would endanger your missions if you had something else on your mind.”
“Then why not now? The wars are over. Why couldn’t you tell him now?” Duo asked.
“Serious injustice..” Wufei muttered.

“It’s not that she doesn’t want you Heero. It’s just that.. You’ve got your life set out for you. You’re the strongest one out of all you pilots. She feared that if you saw her, or knew she was alive, then if a new threat came up, you’d break down and fail.” Dr J muttered.

“Oh that’s bullshit!” Duo yelled. “Well J, we have to go now and destroy tCommCommander dude now. Send us the co-ordinates and we’ll be off.”
Dr J nodded and sent the co-ordinates of the base and Emily’s parents then cancelled the transmission. Duo wrote down the co-ordinates then closed the laptop.

“Well boys.. er, and Virg, let’s go get this guy,” Duo said. Virg stood from her seat.
“First we have to take the girl somewhere. She cant come with us, and we can’t leave her here,” Virg said.
“We can take her to my resource satellite. My sisters can look after her there.” Quarte replied. Trowa shook his head.
“It’s too far away. Hilde’s house is closer. Duo, do you think she’ll mind babysitting for a few days?” Trowa asked Duo.
Duo thought about it for a minute.
“Shouldn’t be a problem. Of course we have to check with Hilde first. I’ll call her now.” Duo walked to the phone and dialed her number.

Virg looked at Heero.
“Don’t worry Heero. When this is all over, I’ll help you find your mum. Just try keep a clear head until then alright?” She put her hand on his shoulder. Then she got up and headed for the living room.

“Hey Emily,” Virg said. “Listen, the guys and I have to go take care of some business, so we have to leave you with our friend Hilde. After that we’ll take you home to your parents alright?”
The little girl looked from the TV to Virg. She nodded.
“Virginia, you’re going to kill Emanuel aren’t you?” she said softly. Virg nodded.
“He’s a bad man Em. Don’t worry about us. We know what we’re doing.” Virg said re-assuringly. Emily shook her head.
“You shouldn’t go Virginia. If you do, you’ll die. You’ll all fail. If you go, Heero will die also.” She said. Virg’s eyebrows grew closer together.
“Who told you that?” She asked the little girl.

“The Destiny suit did. It showed me the future. The commander shoots you, then he shoots Heero. Don’t go Virg.” The little girl pleaded. Virg’s frown disappeared.
“I’ll be extra careful okay. I have to go. Come on, let’s pack you some things and we’ll take you to Hilde’s.”

“What’s wrong Heero?” Quatre said. Heero was still sitting at the table. He hadn’t moved from his spot. Quatre sat next to him.
“I have a knack for these things Heero. I know something’s up.”
Heero turned to Quatre.
“It’s just about my mother,” Heero said. Quatre shook his head.
“No it’s not. It’s something else. I can sense it Heero. It’s about the mission isn’t it?” said Quatre. Heero nodded at Quatre.

“I had a dream last night. We must have been at the base trying to take out Emanuel. Virg died. He shot her from behind. Then he shot me in the head. It felt so real. I’m worried that if we go to take out the base..” Heero drifted off. Quatre nodded.

“You think you’ll both be killed. It’s a decision you have to make Heero. Just remember, you can always change the future. You only can’t change the past.” Quatre put his hand on Heero’s back. “It’ll be okay Heero. All I can say is when the time comes, you’ll know how to change the outcome.”
Heero nodded and began packing up the laptop.

“See ya soon Hilde!” Duo hung up the phone. He turned to face the other four gundam pilots.
“Hilde said it should be alright if we leave her with Emily. I told her we’ll only be a few days at the most. Come on, we gotta get ready to go.”

Duo brought the black hoodless jeep out to the front of the house. He beeped the horn.
“Move it guys! We have to catch a shuttle straight after we take Em to Hilde’s!” He shouted. The remaining four pilots along with Virg and Emily exited the house and headed for he car. Virg led Emily to the back seat and buckled her in.
“I’ll ride with you sis,” Heero said. “There’s not much room left in the Jeep. Other wise it’ll be a bit squishy.”
Virg shook her head.
“I’ve got to go run a few errands then I’ll meet you at Hilde’s. Don’t leave her house after you drop off Em, wait for me,” Virg said.

Heero looked confused.
“Where are you going Virg?” he asked.
“To take care of something. I wont be long.” She said. She turned to walk to her red hoodless jeep when Heero grabbed her hand.
“It can’t be that secretive. I know you’ll tell us all about it later anyway. Come on. You don’t want me squashed up in the jeep with those guys do you?” Heero joked. They both looked back at the black jeep.

Quatre was playing thumb wars with Em, Trowa was rolling his eyes, and Duo was poking Wufei in the side.
“Stop it Maxwell!” Wufei yelled, hitting him on the shoulder.
“Chaaaaan! What was that for?” Duo yelled back, rubbing his shoulder.
“Justice has been served,” Wufei muttered back.

Heero looked back to Virg.
“See what I mean. Come on sis. You can tell me more about my mother and project destiny,” He said. Virg rolled her eyes.
“Fine, lets go.” She waved her hand for him to follow her. They got into her red hoodless jeep and drove off.

The remaining pilots watched as Virg and Heero drove off.
“Geez, since those two accepted each other as brother and sister, they’ve become inseparable!” Duo muttered as he crossed his arms. Wufei looked at Duo.
“Jealous?” he joked. Duo looked back at the smiling Chinese boy.
“N.. No,” Duo stammered.
“Come on Duo, let’s go to Hilde’s, we’ll wait for them there like Virginia said.” Quatre said. Duo nodded and started the car.

* * * *

“Heero, can u dial this number?” Virg asked, passing Heero a piece of paper with numbers on it. Heero nodded and dialed.
“This is preventer wind speaking,” said the platinum blonde on the other end.
“Zechs?” Heero said. Virg continued to drive, while glancing momentarily at the screen.
“Hey Zechs. I’m guessing you’re helping out Lady Une if you answered this. I need to talk to her, where is she?” Virg asked. Zechs raised one eyebrow.
“I’m good. Thanks for asking Virginia,” Zechs said. Heero smiled.
“Lady Une’s not available at the moment. She’s talking care of something..” Virg took off her sunglasses and pulled the car to sideside of the road.
“Tell her this is an emergency. Tell her it’s about project destiny. I have to see her right away!” Virg said sternly.

‘She’s been hanging around Wu too long,’ Heero thought to himself. ‘She’s becoming as stubborn as him.’

Zech’s nodded.
“She’s been trying to contact you for a while. Meet us at these co-ordinates in an hour,” he said. A bunch of numbers popped up on the screen.
“See you there Milly,” Virg joked and cancelled the transmission. Virg smiled and looked at Heero.
“Milly?” Heero asked as he smiled. Virg laughed.
“He hates being called that. I wanted to get on his nerves. Every time I call him that he always yells back ‘It’s Milliardo! Not Milly!’ This time I dint give him a chance to yell back,” Virg laughed. “I just canceled the transmission!”
Heero laughed.
“Lover’s quarrel!” he joked. Virg glared back at him then rolled her eyes.
“He’s gone with Noin now. I hear they might be getting married soon. Anyway, I’m after Duo now. That is.. if he hasn’t already gone for Hilde..” Virg drifted off. Heero smiled.
“I’ll help you out. Just like how you’re helping me out with Relena.”

Zech’s rolled his eyes.
“I hate it when she does that!” Zechs said to himself.
“Is that you’re code name.. Milly?” a female voice said behind him. Zechs turned around.
“Very funny Une. She’s just a kid,” He said back. Lady Une smiled.
“Even if she is 17, she’s a very smart and conniving kid at that. She’s coming here isn’t she?”
Zechs nodded.
“Within the hour.” He said.
Lady Une handed Zech’s a piece of paper with writing on it.
“Make sure all these are ready for when she arrives.”

“Hilde!! We’re here!” Duo yelled as the four pilots and the little girl got out of the jeep. The front door opened.
“Duo!” Hilde squealed. She ran up to Duo and gave him a big hug. Duo could feel something tugging at the side of his pants. He looked down so see the little girl.
“Is this your girlfriend Duo?” She asked innocently. Duo looked back at Hilde.

Wufei watched. He knew Duo couldn’t get out of that question. He walked up to Duo, Hilde and Emily.
“Come, let’s take Emily inside. If anyone recognizes her, we’re dead,” Wufei ushered everyone inside. Duo nudged Wufei in the side with his elbow.
“Thanks Wu,” Duo whispered. Wufei smiled.
“Anytime.”

* * * *

“We’re here to see Lady Une,” Virg said to the guard. The guard nodded and ushered Heero and Virg down the wide corridors of Milliardo’s mansion. The guard stopped outside the large white double doors at the end of the hallway.
“In here,” he said, pointing to the door. He then nodded and left Virg and Heero.

Heero knocked at the door. Zech’s voice could be heard through the door.
“Enter.”
Virg opened the door and the two pilots entered the room. Lady Une was sitting at the desk. On the other end of the desk Zechs sat in the chair facing Une. They both turned to face Heero and Virg entering the room.

“Ah, Virginia. I’ve been expecting to see you.” Lady Une said as she shook hands with Virg,
“Like wise Miss Une,” Virg replied. She then turned to Zechs.
“Long time no see Milly,” Virg smiled. Zechs rolled his eyes.
“How old are you Virg?” He joked back. Lady Une greeted Heero. He then turned back to Zechs and Virg.

The brunette was standing a foot away from the blonde. She looked up at the Epyon pilot as he looked down to the Guardian pilot.
“Enough, both of you,” Lady Une said sternly. “We’re all here because of an important matter.” Lady Une sat back at the desk, while the remaining three sat opposite her in the large brown leather chairs.

“We’re going after Emmanuel tomorrow night. I know you can supply us with the rigoys.oys.” Virg said to Une. Lady Une nodded.
“I knew you’d be coming. I can give you whatever you want, but on one condition. Zechs and I are to accompany you.”
Heero shook his head.
“No offence, but us gundam pilots know what we’re doing Miss Une.” He said.

Lady Une leaned back in her chair.
“That’s the condition I propose. Otherwise I cannot help you.” She looked to Virg. “You know as well as I that Emanuel has to be taken out. We can help you guys. After all, we all fought in the wars.” She finished. Virg nodded.

“Fine. But we leave from here tonight. Let’s organize the supplies and we’ll all go.” She said.
Lady Une stood from her seat.
“Follow me.”

* * * *

“What’s taking them so long!” Duo grumbled. The four pilots and the two girls were all sitting around the TV. Emily took control of the remote and put on Sailor Moon.

“She’s so dumb!” Emily pointed to Sailor Moon. “See! Beryl could’ve got her then! And they just sit around watching her talk!”
Hilde and Duo laughed.

“Can you imagine if we all did that during the wars?” Duo laughed. He stood from the couch and jumped in front of the TV. He raised is fore finger and little fingers and began waving his arms around.

“I am the great destroyer! I fight for love and justice! And you’re moon dust!” he shouted. Everyone started laughing.
“I think the enemy would be frozen with fear if you did that during the wars Duo!” Quatre joked. “You’re hair’s so long, you could probably do your hair like Sailor moons!!” Everyone started laughing. Duo giggled and sat back on the couch next to Emily. He looked down at the laughing girl.
“You think that’s funny huh?” He asked.
The little girl nodded. As she nodded he noticed the little girl wasn’t a natural red head.
“Does Emanuel die your hair?” Duo asked. The little girl nodded.
“I haven’t had my hair dyed in a while. You can see my brown roots. He says I remind him too much like someone he used to know that died.”
She looked up at him with her green eyes.
‘She *does* look familiar..” Duo thought to himself.

** ding don “Th “The door bell!” Hilde squealed as she ran to the door.
“Hey Hilde!” Virg hugged her friend. She entered the living room, followed by Heero, Zechs and lady Une.

“We got some new recruits,” Virg said, pointing to Une and Zechs. “They want to take out Emanuel too. Now come on, let’s get moving.”

Everyone said their goodbyes to Hilde and Emily, and their hello’s to Une and Zechs. Duo jumped in the driver’s seat of the black jeep and looked at his watch.
“Virg, we’ve already missed the shuttle. The next one doesn’t leave till later tonight.” He said. Virg shook her head.

“Une’s provided us with a shuttle and weapons. We’ve got nothing to worry about.” Virg smiled. Duo’s eyes lit up.
“Weapons? You brought them here?” He jumped out of the car. Virg pointed to the large black trunk sitting in the back of her red jeep.
“Now come on, we have to go now!e she shouted to everyone. She looked back at Duo. “Just follow us alright?”

Virg, Heero, Lady Une and Zechs rode in the red Jeep, followed by the remaining four pilots in Duo’s black jeep. They drove to the spaceport at that colony. When Duo and the other three pilots arrived, Heero and Zechs were already carrying the large black trunk into the back of a large gray shuttle.

“Wow! Has it got stealth?” Duo asked lady Une. She nodded proudly.
“We could ride it right up Emanuel’s ass and he wouldn’t even know it,” she joked. Duo laughed. He’d never seen that side of Lady Une.
“You know Une,” Duo said as he put his arm around her shoulder, “I’m surprised I was even fighting against u 2 years ago. You’re a really funny person Une!” he laughed again. She smiled.
“Likewise Duo.”

“We’ll be there in an hour,” Zechs said to lady Une. He and Une piloted the shuttle. Wufei and Heero played chess in the small rec room. Quatre and Trowa watched them, commenting on moves made by Heero and Wufei.
Virg and Duo sat in the docking bay, putting the guns together. They placed the explosives in eight different duffle bags. Each one of them was to carry bombs with them. Duo took a pistol and placed it next to him on the floor. He sat opposite Virg on the floor. The large trunk was on his right. Duo got up and sat next to Virg. He held open the duffle bag as she placed another unarmed bomb in it.

“Thanx Duo.”
“That’s alright.” He said back. He then leaned towards her and kissed her on the cheek. Virg stopped what she was doing. She turned to face Duo. She looked through the large chestnut brown bangs and into his violet eyes.
“We’re good together,” she smiled. Duo smiled back.
“I love you Virg. I don’t know what went wrong with us, but..” Virg put her finger on Duo’s lips.
“I love you too Duo. Always have, always will.” She took her finger off his lips and kissed him softly. She felt Duo’s tongue pushed through her lips and into her mouth. She moaned slightly and caressed his tongue with hers. She could feel the manly unshaven stubble on his face. She smiled slightly at the thought that Duo was a man, 18 now. Duo pulled back from the kiss. He bent down and began kissing Virg’s neck. She wrapped her arms around Duo’s shoulders. Duo raised his head again, and kissed Virg.

“Ahem,” Someone behind them cleared their throat. Heero was standing in the doorway. He leaned on the doorframe and raised one eyebrow.
“We’re going to be there in half an hour. We need the weapons all ready by then,” he tried to say with a stern voice, but ended up smiling as he finished.

“t yot you knock?!” Virg laughed. Heero smiled back at them. Virg was sitting on Duo’s lap, with her legs around his hips.
“Why should I knock?” Heero laughed. “Continue, I want to see this!” he crossed his arms and smiled. Virg glared at Heero.
“Oh! Heero! Go away! You can be so annoying sometimes!” she yelled back at him. Heero laughed as he turned and walked back out of the room.

Virg looked back at Duo. She pecked him on the lips and got up.
“I guess we better get back to work Duo.” Duo nodded and continued putting together the guns and ammo.
