part 4
Part 4
I finished my test 15 minutes early, and looked around the room. 'Hn, Dou's definitely going to fail' I thought as I saw Duo also looking idly around the room. 'Wonder what question he got up to before his brain froze.' I thought, turning back around. There was no need for any checking of my work, it was always perfect. The calculations were exact. I've even mentioned that fact a couple of times in my test. I smiled smugly, and settled down to wait.
DOOF!
Something hit the back of my head, then rebounded onto the ground. I looked down at the innocent looking piece of eraser, then up to see if I could catch the person who threw it at me. My gaze collided with the deep violet one of Duo Maxwell. I felt my stomach clench. Duo Maxwell! Arrogant pig! I gave him my best glare, expecting him to just back down, like everyone else.
What happened next was shocking. He grinned at me. He GRINNED at me! Didn't even flinch at my best glare and had the gall to grin back! My stomach tightened further. How dare he! My expression must have given away my outrage as his foolish grin got wider.
I looked away in disgust and anger.
Anger because I could not intimidate that idiot, and disgust because I was letting said idiot get under my skin. Nobody had ever broken through my mask since I started coming to this school. Ever! What the hell was it about that guy? How can he get to me so easily? Did I really hate him that much? I must. It's the only explanation. I turned around, looking at the board, and fumed.
Baka!

I laughed silently to myself as the perfect student Heero Yuy turned back around to face the board. The look on his face had been priceless!
I decided to check my work one more time while I was waiting. It couldn't hurt, right? I start flipping through the pages. Ooops! Mistake on the second page. I'd told the teacher (who I assume is going to be correcting this) that my answer was exact. Big no no! You see, while answers in physics can be accurate, they are hardly ever exact. There are often too many variables and decimal places to get anything perfectly exact, so in a lot of cases, you have to put the little approximately sign, not the equals sign.(1)
I finished checking over my test and looked at my watch again. 5 min to go. I sat back and looked idly around the room again.
Heero Yuy was smirking at me.
I grinned at him.
He turned away again.
I smiled a little more. He was probably envisioning my failure. I mentally chuckled. I've never failed a test in my life! Well, not true actually. There was this home ec test I only got like 30%. So I don't know what a French seam is. So sue me! I got damn high marks for my boxer shorts ( a pair which I still wear today thank you very much!).
The bell rang, and I had my test on the teachers desk, then was out like a shot. I always am the first one out. I don't know why, but I find schoolrooms so confining.

I glanced up as the braided jock ran out of the room as fast as his legs could carry him. Probably the need to consume as much food as possible in the shortest time possible drove him to the cafeteria. I've seen him eat, it's disgusting! He just shovels it all in. It's a wonder he doesn't use both hands, or get ill.
I placed my test on the desk, on top of the monstrosity that was duo's. What a mess! How could the teacher read that?!
I headed out the door in search of Trowa and found him waiting for me outside the cafeteria as usual. He wasn't looking too happy.
"Trowa" I acknowledged.
"Heero" he replied distractedly
"Beat Duo in another physics test." I said triumphantly as we grabbed our food and found a place to sit.
"How do you know? Didn't you only do it just now"
"Well, I don't actually know yet, but it's a given really." I replied. It wasn't like him to be so talkative. He must really have something on his mind. "So what's wrong?" I asked. I had given him time, let him come to terms with whatever he needed to, and now I wanted answers. "You've been acting weird since that basketball game." Again, that tell tale stiffening. "What actually happened there?"
Trowa looked down at his plate. "I was reminded of my place."
"Reminded of your place?" I asked confused. How could he...then it clicked. "What did those jocks do?" I asked.
"Nothing, it's not important" he mumbled
"The hell it's not!" I said furiously. He just looked away. Then something caught his attention, and he stiffened again. I looked over to where Duo was having a lively conversation with Quatre and Wufei. Or at least, he was talking. Quatre was staring fixedly at his plate, not eating, just staring. Wufei looked to be listening, but not very interested, looking down at his meal with boredom.
Quatre looked up at us then back quickly as he saw Trowa watching. Trowa looked away hurriedly as Quatre's eyes met his.
"Was it Quatre?" I asked, anger threaded through my voice. I would kill him! Just because I liked to study, didn't mean that I didn't know how to fight. I knew three different martial arts, and I would cane his ass.
Trowa looked up, shocked. "No!" he said forcefully "Quatre helped me when..." He looked away as if he just realised he'd said too much. I looked at him, hurt. I was his friend, didn't he know he could trust me?
Something of the way I was feeling must have shown in my face as he finally decided to open up "Can we go somewhere and talk?" he asked. "I can't tell you here." I nodded and followed him outside.
(1) I know this as a fact, because my last year physics teacher would take off half a mark if you said an answer was exact.
