PART 3

“So, your name’s Gabriel eh? Right now you’re my torture pet,” Duo smiled as he slapped the unconscious man.

“Where am I?” Gabriel asked. Duo smiled and put his hands on his hips.

“You’re in my world of torture and interrogation. I’d much rather do it without drugs, but we’ll see which way you talk faster.” Duo had an evil look in his eyes.

Gabriel’s green eyes turned blue.
“What the f...?” Duo shouted. “I know you!”
‘He was in Cyprien’s memories! He’s a...’

Gabriel smiled.
“You can’t hurt me Duo. I am above mankind. I am chaos itself.”

A bolt of lightning hit the streetlight outside, narrowly missing the window.

Duo leaned close to Gabriel.
“Are you sure you know who you’re messing with? I am shinigami.” He whispered. A shiver ran down Gabriel’s spine.

Another flash of lightning lit up the room. Duo’s shadow caught Gabriel’s eye. It wasn’t a normal shadow. There was another flash. Gabriel got a better look at Duo’s shadow.

It was as if Duo’s shadow wasn’t even human. In that split second glimpse, Gabriel saw a bat winged figure holding a scythe.

“Cyprien, I want you to show me what Duo and Wufei saw in your head. I’m not taking no for an answer.” Heero commanded.

Cyprien sighed.
“Fine. But I warned you.” She shrugged as she placed held Heero’s face with her hands.

* * * *

“Well well well. Looks like I’ve finally met one. I’ve finally come face to face with death; literally.” Gabriel laughed.

“Shut up Gabriel. So, you’re an arcangel. Well whoopdiedoo!!” Duo made a circular motion in the air with his fingers. “So tell me Arc, why are you trying to kill Relena?”

“For kicks.. What else?” Gabriel laughed. “What did you expect me to say? For the good of mankind? Oh no, my dear child of death. I do it for the chand and suffering. The world needs some more excitement!”

“You’re sick!” Duo muttered before punching Gabriel square in the jaw. Blood flew out from the side of Gabriel’s mouth onto the floor. Gabriel looked at the blood on the floor and laughed.

I’ve never bled before. What an amazing feeling it is to be human eh? Unfortunately, the higher beings wouldn’t let me keep my powers, which made me 100 percent human. This is an unfair fight don’t you think Duo?”

Duo crossed his arms.
“I think it’s completely fair. I bet they seemed happy to let u become human! Let me guess. They decided that once your human body dies, you wont be able to resume your duties as an archangel right?”

Gabriel nodded.
“I think that was fair! Why? What deal did you get when your human body dies?”

Duo smiled.
“I get to resume as shinigami. Surprised Gabriel? Now I know why they were so eager to let you become human! They could see what a raving lunatic you’d become!!”

“No!! I’m not crazy! I am the archangel Gabriel! You can’t defeat me!” Gabriel shouted.

Duo smiled cheekily.
“Well how about I let you go if you’re going to behave. Now that you know your life has been dramatically shortened to about .. oh about 50 years, you might want to enjoy it while you can. Find a girl, have a NON lunatic family..” Duo untied the ropes around Gabriel’s hands.

Gabriel smiled as Duo leaned over him to untie his hands.
“Duo. I have something to confess.”

Duo paused. Gabriel held his finger out to usher Duo closer. The deathscythe pilot wearily edged closer to Gabriel’s face. Gabriel pushed his head forward to head butt Duo, closing his eyes, ready for the heavy blow his head would have to take. But Gabriel nearly sat up before he realized that Duo must’ve backed away, because he didn’t hit anything. Gabriel opened his eyes but couldn’t find Duo anywhere in the room. All he saw was a black mist, which covered the floor.

“What the??..”

Gabriel watched as the black mist twisted and turned upwards, like a small sized twister. It circled upwards and a faint laughter could be heard. As the dark clouds slowly disappeared, Duo could be seen within the mist.

“Don’t mess with Death, Arc. I might have to set your soul free one of these days,” Duo smiled then walked out the door.

Gabriel sat speechless on the bed. He could hear the muffled voices of Duo, Wufei and Relena as they exited the hotel room. They were gone.

“Duo’s.. death?” Heero mumbled. Cyprien nodded. Before she could say anything, her mobile rang.

“Duo?”
“Hey Cyprien.. Good news.. Looks like Gabriel’s not going to kill Relena now. Long story short, he got given a bodgy deal when he became human. I’ll tell you guys the full version when we see you. We’ll come to you. Okay?”

“Sure. How long are you going to be?”
“Oh, about 10 minutes. We’re already on the way.”

“What did you do with Gabriel?”
“I let him go. We wont be hearing from him anymore. I can guarantee it.”

Cyprien hung up the phone and looked at Heero.
“They’re on their way.” She said as she stuffed the phone in the back pocket of her jeans.

“What happened to Gabriel? He’s an archangel isn’t he?” Heero asked.
“He *was * an archangel. He’s obviously become human now. Duo said something about he won’t be botng ung us again. He said He’d debrief us fully when they get here.”

[10 minutes later]

“Hey Heero, Cyprien!” Duo shouted across the hall.
“Hey! Duo! What took you guys so long!” Cyprien laughed.

Duo looked at his watch and raised an eyebrow.
“No.. I said 10 minutes.. It’s been 10 minutes...” he laughed back.

“Come on. Let’s go find a nice expensive hotel to stay in for the night. My shout.. well, it’s Treis’s shout.” Wufei smiled.

Everyone looked at Wufei, confused.
“What do you mean Treis’s shout?” Heero asked.

Wufei smiled proudly as he pulled out Treis’s credit card our of his back pocket.

“Wufei! You didn’t!” Relena laughed. “When did you..”
“When I was interrong tng the pervert for information. Don’t worry. He won’t know it’s gone! It’s his own private credit card. I suppose he uses it for ‘unofficial’ business.. if you catch my drift.” Wufei said proudly.

Duo’s eyes lit up.
“Well what are you waiting for! Penthouse here we come!” Duo shouted as he ran to the stolen jeep.

[Moscow Imperial hotel: Moscow, Russia]

“Wow! What a view!” Duo shouted as he ran to the balcony. He held out his hand to catch a snowflake. Heero followed Duo onto the balcony and watched as Duo caught snowflakes. He put his arms around Duo from behind and rested his chin on Duo’s shoulder. He felt so peaceful standing so close to the one he loved.

“I get dibs on the bed!” Cyprien shouted.
“There’s four beds Cyprien.” Wufei shouted across the room.

“I know, but I hog the bed so I’m not sharing!” Cyprien shouted back. She walked back into the main room where Relena and Wufei were sitting. She saw Wufei making subtle eye movements, pointing to Relena with his eyes.

“Oh shit..” Cyprien covered her mouth to stop herself from talking anymore.

“Hey Wufei, does Relena know about Heero and Duo? Because I know Heero and Duo are going to want to be the ones that get to share a bed.” Wufei could hear Cyprien’s voice, but he didn’t see her lips move. He realized she was speaking to him telepathically.

“I don’t know,” Wufei said back (telepathically). “Should we ask?”

“I’ll ask Heero later.” Cyprien said aloud.

“Ask Heero what?” Relena asked, completely unaware of the conversation going on between Wufei and Cyprien.

“Er.. We’re gonna ask him what he wants to eat, but I guess we’ll ask him now.. Heero!!!!” Cyprien yelled. She couldn’t think of anything else to say to Relena.

“Yeah..” Heero shouted from the balcony. He and Duo came back into the main living area.

“We’re hungry. You want to order something?” Cyprien said.

Heero nodded.

Duo smiled cheekily from ear to ear and he began rubbing his palms together.
“Let’s make this more interesting. Let’s sneak down into the kitchen and steal some food. First one back with the most food wins alright?”

Heero and Cyprien smiled and nodded.
Wufei crossed his arms.
“I don’t know about leaving Relena on her own. She might still be in danger,” Wufei said.

Duo shrugged.
“Your loss Wu-man!” Duo smiled. He looked at Heero and Cyprien. “Ready.. Set.. Go!”

A white mist encircled Cyprien and a black mist encircled Duo, and with that, they both disappeared. Wufei looked at Heero.

“You can’t do that?” he asked as he crossed his arms. Heero shook his head. Suddenly a white mist appeared next to Heero, then encirclem anm and he was gone.

“Come on Heero, I brought you to even the odds a bit. Duo’s already grabbing some food behind the cook’s back.” Cyprien said. Heero and Cyprien were hiding behind the fridge door.

“I’m going for it. Remember Heero, you can’t knock any of them out alright?” Cyprien smiled. The white mist encircled her again then disappeared to reveal her in her deep blue outfit and wings.

“What are you doing!” Heero whispered! “if you get seen with those wings-“ Heero tried to grab her arm, but his hand went right through hers. Cyprien smiled.

“Only you can see I’m I’m invisible to the ordinary human. I don’t know if Duo can see me or not. Now hurry up Heero.” Cyprien said as she walked through the crowd of chefs and bellboys. She literally walked right through a couple chefs and they didn’t even realize it.

Cyprien reached the large walk-in food storage room. The door was closed, but she walked right through it. Durneurned around and saw Cyprien grabbing a tiny teddies packet.

“About time you guys showed up. Looks like I’m winning Cen!”en!” Duo whispered. He put another packet of chips in his arms, which were already full of biscuits, chocolate and many other foods. Cyprien smiled.

“Don’t be so sure.. If I know Heero, he’s got something up his sleeve.” Cyprien whispered as she grabbed a packet of tim tams.

Heero could see the food storage room from across the room where he was standing. He watched for a moment at all the chefs and bellboys, then whispered “Stop.”

Everyone in the room stopped, as if in suspended animation. Cyprien opened the door to the food storage room and walked into the kitchen. She was back in her normal clothes again. She smiled and looked around the room.

“Nicely done Heero! And you got Duo too!” Cyprien laughed. Heero smiled and ran to grab some food. Heero looked at Duo who was standing stiff as a board with a variety of junk foods in his arms.

“Should we unfreeze him? Cyprien asked as she pointed her thumb at Duo. Heero smiled cheekily; a rare vision which only Cyprien and Duo had seen before.

“Let’s leave him for a moment,” Heero said. “Until we can get more food.”
Cyprien found a large cardboard box and threw in the junkfood she’d collected, along with the chips, lollies, popcorn and biscuits Heero collected. Cyprien grabbed four bottles of vodka and various types of alcohol and put them in the box. The 1 metre by 1 metre box was filled to the brim with food.

Cyprien sighed as the put the last bottle in the box.
“That should do,” she said. She looked at the still frozen Duo. “I think we beat him dontcha think Heero?” she laughed.

Heero smiled.
“Resume,” He whispered, and Duo continued talking as if he’d never been frozen to begin with.
“And, as I was saying to Wu-..ro!”ro!” Duo shouted as he saw Heero standing next to Cyprien. “How’d you get in here! One minute you’re here, and.. the next!” Duo shouted.

“SSHHHH!!!” Cyprien muttered. But it was too late.

“Hey! Someone’s in the storage room!” A voice from outside yelled.

“Time to go!” Duo squealed as the black mist encircled him and the handfuls of food his hands managed to carry.

Cyprien looked at Heero.
“Time for us to go too,” She whispered. Heero nodded. The white mist surrounded Heero, Cyprien and the box of food, and with that, they were gone.

A slight cool breeze flowed through the large dark room. Duo slowly opened his eyes and looked around the room. Snow flakes falling could be seen out the window. Duo lifted his head from Heero’s shoulder and exited the bed as quietly and stealthily as possible.

‘Heero usually wakes at the drop of a pin!’ Duoughtught to himself. ‘I hope I’m not making him soft. Ah well. The guy needed to loosen up a little.’

Duo put on his black t-shirt and headed for the large white double doors, careful not to make a sound. Duo opened one of the doors and paused to look at Heero. Heero lay on his back, ever so peaceful.

Duo exited the bedroom and headed for the kitchen. He didn’t bother turning on the lights. Duo opened the fridge and grabbed the carton of milk. He put the carton to his lips, ready to drink, when he saw a figure out on the balcony.

“Cyprien?” Duo whispered. “It’s snowing. What are you doing on the balcony in the middle of the night?” Duo put the milk on the concrete railing and leaned on the railing next to Cyprien. Cyprien was sitting on the railing in her blue flannelette pajamas. It’sIt’s not that cold,” Cyprien sighed.

“What’s wrong?” Duo asked. Cyprien looked from the view to Duo.

“I just so feel like flying away right now. But this being human means I cant just use my wings whenever I feel like. What if someone sees me. Do you know how many religious conflicts it wouluse use if someone saw me!? Or saw *you* Duo!” Cyprien whispered. “Ah well. I can wait till I find a deserted area one day. So Duo, have you had a chat to Heero about you being death and all?”

Duo shook his head.
“I don’t even think he knows about me. If he does know, he hasn’t mentioned it.”

“Duo, don’t get mad.. but Heero told me to show him what you saw in my head. He knows..” Cyprien got off the railing and stood next to Duo on the balcony.

“I know you love him Duo. Just don’t do anything to hurt him okay?” Cyprien pushed Duo in the direction of the door, which leads back into the penthouse. “Now go and talk to him about it!” she whispered.

Duo managed to regain his balance and turned to face Cyprien.
“Thanx Cyprien.”

* * * *

“Duo?” Heero mumbled.
“I’m here. Just needed a drink.” Duo whispered as he walked back to bed.
‘Ah fuck! I forgot the milk on the balcony!’ Duo thought to himself. ‘ah fuck it. Cyprien will hopefully remember to put it back.. I hope.’

The room was dark, with the slightest amounts of light coming in from the window. The moon was full and shining brightly. The light shining from the moon was enough for Duo to see Heero’s face. His bright Prussian blue eyes stood out from the black covers of the bed.

“What’s wrong Duo?” Heero asked. Duo got back into bed and snuggled up against Heero. He rested his head on Heero’s shoulder.

“I think we need to talk,” Duo whispered.

“About?”

Duo gulped.
“The fact that I’m.. well.. Death.”

“I know you’re death. Cyprien showed me.” Heero said. Duo couldn’t tell if he was being sarcastic, sad, happy, or anything.

“And..”

“And It doesn’t surprise me,” Heero said. “Cyprien’s my guardian angel, so it doesn’t surprise me that you’re someone special too.”

Duo sat up and looked right into Heero’s Prussian eyes.
“You’re not at all freaked out by this?”

“It’s a bit of a shock, but it does explain a lot.”

“What do you mean?”

Heero sat up and placed his hand on Duo’s.
“It explains how you can sneak into places undetected. How you know more about the world than 70 year old man. And how you can steal my heart in an instant.”

“H.. Heero.. I don’t know what to say. I’m glad, and at the same time.. shocked that you took this so well.”

Heero bent forward and kissed Duo softly on the lips.
“Every one has a secret.. I just happen to know yours and I’m not bothered by it. I think it just makes you more unique..”

Duo smiled cheerfully.. then cheekily.
“So what’s your deep secret Heero?”

A small smile appeared from the corner of Heero’s mouth. He put his arms around Duo and moved in close.
“Wouldn’t you like to know.. Want me to show you?” Heero whispered.

Duo nodded as he looked right into the Japanese boy’s eyes. Heero smiled from ear to ear.
“Okay Duo.. but I warned you..” he whispered as he pinned Duo down on the bed. He moved in and kissed Duo.

* * * *

“Can’t sleep?” Wufei pulled the covers off his face and looked at the door. Cyprien was standing in the doorway.

“Sorry.. Did I wake you?” Cyprien whispered. Wufei shook his head.

“Come and lie down. I don’t mind,” He replied. Cyprien smiled and headed towards the double bed. Wufei moved over and lifted the covers for Cyprien.

“Mmm.. thanx Wu.” Cyprien and Wufei lay down on the double bed facing each other. Wufei pulled the red covers up over Cyprien’s shoulders.

“It’s cold,” Wufei whispered. “So what’s it like being an angel. I mean, why be human when you can be above all that?”
Cyprien shifted closer to Wufei. She put her warm hand around his bare waist. Wufei’s heart began to beat faster.

“Because you cant feel things like this when you’re an angel. I watched Heero as he learnt to build bombs, to shoot and pilot. I wanted to do all that as well. I also wanted to feel all different things. You’re forbidden to have a relationship when you’re and angel. Then word got around that Death.. well *a* death was granted his wish to be human..”

“You mean Duo?” Wufei asked. He tried to pay *full* attention to what Cyprien was saying, but he couldn’t get his mind off how Cyprien’s fingers were still running up and down his side. He didn’t even know if she realized she was doing it.

“Yeah. So I asked the higher beings if they could make me human.” Cyprien explained.

“What did they say? What happened once you were human?”

“They said they’ll make me human, but to think of it as a vacation sort of. Once this body dies, I go back to being Heero’s guardian.. That’s if he doesn’t die first.. Once I was human, I convinced J to make me a gundam after I showed him a few of my gifts.. and here I am! Lying here in bed talking to you.” Cyprien yawned. “Oh! I didn’t realize how tired I was..”

Wufei moved closer till he was body to body with Cyprien. He put his arm around her shoulder. Cyprien rested her head on Wufei’s chest.
“Sleep. We’ve got a big day tomorrow. Relena’s Speech is on and we’ve still got to go and protect her.” Wufei yawned and put his head on the pillow.

“Good night Wufei..”
“Good night Cyprien.”

*bang* .. .. *bang*

“What was that?” Cyprien said without opening her e

“Well.. I hate to say it.. I’m guessing it’s Heero and Duo.. er.. You know..” Wufei mumbled. The banging on the walls became more erratic.

Cyprien giggled.
“Fucken hell! Cant sleep!” Wufei grumbled out loud and reached for a spare pillow. He plonked it on top of his and Cyprien’s heads, trying to muffle the sounds.

“I don’t think that’s helping Wu!” Cyprien was fully awake now.
Wufei grumbled again.
“Remind me to kill both of them in the morning.”

“Why don’t you go tell them off now?” Cyprien mumbled under the pillow.

“Because I’ve learnt.. never sneak up on Heero, *especially* when he doesn’t want to be disturbed. He’d probably shoot me by accident!” Wufei complained.

“Well by the sounds of it Wu.. Heero doesn’t exactly have a gun ‘on’ him at the moment..” Cyprien giggled. Wufei smiled.
“Let’s just *try* get some sleep okay?”

* * * *

“Morning miss Relena,” Wufei mumbled.
“Morning Wufei. Sleep wellelenelena tied up the sash on her bathrobe and headed for the fridge.

‘If you only knew what Cyprien and I heard from Heero and Duo’s bedroom Relena.. Relena must sleep like a log if she didn’t hear anything!’ Wufei smiled to himself as he read the morning paper.

“Wufei.. Did you drink all the milk?” Relena asked as she looked in the fridge. Wufei took another bite of his toast.

“Sorry Miss Relena. I made toast because I couldn’t find the milk either.” Wufei muffled.

A slight giggle could be heard coming out of the next room.
“Er.. Sorry guys. I think I left the milk on the balcony last night. It’s been snowing out there.. so the milk should still be okay!” Duo squealed.

“Maxwell!!!” Wufei shouted. “Because you left the milk out.. you have to go get us some more!!” he yelled.

Duo could be heard groaning really loudly in the bedroom.
“Cant be bothered Wu!! I’m still sleepy!.. maybe later okay?” Duo groaned.

“Duo!! NOW! Relena’ngryngry!” Wufei shouted.

“No.. Wufei it’s alright.. I’ll just have toast I guess.. now how do you make toast again? My maid usually does it for me..” Relena fumbled with the toaster. Wufei rolled his eyes.

“Can you guys keep it quiet out there!! some people, like me, are trying to sleep!! So shutup up Duo..” Cyprien yelled from the next opposite bedroom. Wufei laughed.

Wufei was unprepared for the pillow to come flying out the open door of his bedroom, which hit i sti straight in the face.

“And that means you too Wu!” Cyprien yelled.

“Cyprien!! That was uncalled for!” Wufei groaned. Cyprien laughed.
“Justice has been served Wufei!!” Cyprien squealed. Duo could be heard laughing from the next bedroom.

“And Wu..” Cyprien said in a ‘sucking up’ voice. “Can you plllllleeeeaaaaseeee come close the door for me!?” she squealed.

“Do it yourself lazy ass!” Duo yelled. Wufei rolled his eyes.

“Shut up loser!” Cyprien yelled back. Wufei dodged another pillow as it flew out of his bedroom, where Cyprien was sleeping, and headed for Duo’s bedroom. The pillow fell short and landed outside the door to Duo and Heero’s bedroom.

“You’re a bad throw Cyp!” Heero yelled.
“It’s a pillow.. not a hand grenade Heero!” Cyprien groaned.

“I thought you were sleeping Cyprien!?” Duo yelled back.
“Well I’m not now.. after all the noise *you’ve* been making!..” She groaned.

“Me?!?! *you’re* the one throwing pillows!” yel yelled back. “That’s it! Thanks to you Cyprien, I’m now officially awake.”

“I swear.. People’d think Cyprien and Duo were related.. All you two do is complain! Oh and Duo.. Since you’re awake.. GO AND GET SOME MILK!” Wufei huffed as he walked towards his bedroom door.
