Chapter 41



“Mrs. Kon your husband he….” The doctor looked away for a second but then quickly looked back at her.
“Please tell me he is alright?” Lanfei slowly made her way to the woman.
“Your husband he…how should I put this.”
“Just say it! Is dad alive!?” Rei jumped in and looked over at the woman.
“I am sorry to say but Mr. Van Kong passed away at 6:50 this morning.”
“Wait a minute. Ki Shou is my father!”
“You are the Kong family correct?”
“No Kon. No g at the end”
“I am sorry!” The woman quickly bows in apology and goes over to the second waiting room.
“Bastard I bet she thought she was real funny.” The raven hair growled. He looked over at his mother and noticed she had gone pale. “Ma are you okay?” He placed a hand on her shoulder.
“For a minute there kitten…I thought…” The women shook her head. “Thanks goodness it wasn’t about your father.”
“Mrs. Kon?” Once more a women’s voice was heard.
“Yes?”
“I am sorry about that mix up. She is new. But about your husband.”
“Is he?” A tone of fear rang through her voice.
“He is fine. He is still unconscious. But he is still alive at this time. It seems he will pull through it. At the moment I cannot say but it does seem he might regain a short period of consciousness soon.”
“Really?” Her eyes widen in pure joy.
“Yes but not for a long time. It will be for a short period. We found no brain damage so that is a good sign. The spine is only fractured not broken. That is all I can report at the moment but do not worry we will be on him at all times.”
“Thank you…thank you so much.”
“Well then if you will excuse me then.” With that the doctor walked away.
Lanfei bowed as the women waked off. She then stood up straight and looked at her son.
“Did you hear Rei-rei?”
“Yeah.” He hugged her. “I’m sorry.”





Rei was outside of the hospital seated on the grass looking up at the half cleared sky. It has been already been 24 hours since the accident. The raven hair laid back and covered his eyes with his forearm.
‘I was so stupid…why the hell was it dad? Why couldn’t it have been some random person or even someone I hate? Idiot…why am I still thinking like this? My dad is right now inside this building with tubes and wires stuck to him due to my selfish and idiotic idea.’ Rei bit down on his lower lip and pressed his forearm harder against his eyes preventing the tears from escaping.
“Rei?”
The raven hair peeked from under his arm and he saw Takao and Mihaeru looking down at him.
“Hey.” Rei said as he sat up. The bluenette and light blond sat down next to him.
“How is he?” Mihaeru asked.
“Well he lived which is good news. He still is unconscious but the doctor said that he would gain a short period of consciousness. That is all we know so far.”
“Rei…I am so sorry. I really don’t know what to say buddy. But I know that he will pull through.”
“It’s okay. I know he will pull through…if he doesn’t I will never forgive myself.” The raven hair let out a deep sigh and rubbed his eyes.
“Did you get any sleep?” The light blond looked over at the tired looking Rei.
“Not a wink. Each time I tried to close my eyes the image of my father comes in mind.”
“Have you seen him?” Takao asked.
The raven hair shook his head.
“ Not yet. Mom saw him. She came out in tears. I just can’t see him yet.”
The two boys just sat in silence.
“Shouldn’t you two be in class?” Rei looked at them.
‘We decided to take today off to spend it with you. You are more important at this very moment.” Tyson looked at the raven hair and gave him a big smile.
“Thanks…” He gave him a small smile.
“Did you get anything to eat?” The light blond asked once more.
“No.”
“Hey how about we go to the cafeteria and get you something eh?” The bluenette stood up and extended his hand to Rei.
“I’m not hungry.”
“Just a small snack or juice at least. Please” Mihaeru looked over at the raven hair with a bit of plead in his eyes.
Rei looked at him for a bit and he slowly nodded in agreement.
“Great come on.” With that Takao pulled Rei up to his feet and all three headed back toward the hospital.



“Here.” Mihaeru handed Rei a can of orange juice and a muffin. “You don’t have to eat it all but at least take a few bites okay?”
“Yeah thanks.” He opened the can and slowly began to drink out of it.
“Who else knows?” The bluenette asked.
Rei placed the can down and began to look down at it.
“Brooklyn, Garland, Jin and Kai.”
“Does uh that girl know?”
“Salima? Who gives a damn about her!”
“Hey sorry.” Takao said.
“No you don’t need to be sorry. It’s my fault all of this happened. I should be the one apologizing.” He rested his head against the table. “This seems like if it is all part of a movie or bad dream…I just wished I was able to wake up.” He felt a hand rest on his shoulder. He looked up and saw Takao with a gentle smile.
“ I really don’t know what to say but just don’t blame yourself anymore. You need to just focus on your dad and be ready to embrace him when he opens his gorgeous eyes.”
“Ty…Mihaeru…thank you both.”
They sat there for a few more minutes until they heard Lanfei calling out at the raven hair and running toward him.
“Ma?”
“Rei-rei your dad woke up! He woke up and smiled at me!” Tears were streaming down her face.
“Really!?” Rei jumped out of his seat and looked at his mother with joy in his eyes.
“Yes…and he said something. He said to make him proud.”
“He said that?”
“He said. ‘Rei don’t cry…go and make me proud.’ He smiled at me and then he closed his eyes.”
“He lost consciousness again?”
“Yes…” The raven hair embraced his mother and allowed her to cry hard against him while he bit on his lower lip and prevented the tears from streaming down his face.
“I’m sorry Ma. I am sorry.”




Brooklyn was resting his head on Jin’s lap while the taller man ran his fingers through all of the orange hair.
“Jin.”
“Yeah?”
“We should postpone the production.”
“What?” Jin looked down at the orange hair.
“I can’t do it. Not after what just happened to Ki Shou. I just want to wait a week or so. Just until he wakes up.”
“Brook what about the singers? How about Kai? Did you talk to Garland about this?”
“I haven’t seen him. But I think he feels the same way. After all Ki Shou is like a father to him and I doubt he will want to continue the show without him and also knowing he is in the hospital in critical shape.” He sighed.
“Brook…Kai is going to leave this week. And what about the students?”
“Jin I just can’t do this now!” He removed himself quickly from the taller man and gripped his head. “I just can’t!”
‘Brook…”
“I know I don’t really know the Kon family that well but they are Garland’s family. He is my best friend and I can tell he is in pain right now!” Tears slowly began to fall.
“I will talk with the students. We can practice for another week.” He pulled the sobbing orange hair into his arms.
“Thank you…I am sorry if I am acting like a selfish brat.”
“You are not. You are only concern about your best friend. I will talk with the band group as well. I am sure they will understand.”
“Thank you…” He leaned up and began to kiss Jin softly on the lips.
“Just relax.” He pulled away from the kiss and hugged the orange hair tighter. “It will be alright.”





Raul looked over at the red head who was sitting at the small coffee table studying.
“Tala”
“Yeah?”
“Are you still upset at Rei?”
The red head looked up from his book and sighed.
“I am not angry at him…just upset at his attitude. Rei he well he just seems always angry and he loses his temper all to fast. It just upsets me, it makes me mad that he makes himself look like the victim constantly.”
The Spanish boy looked down at Fai as Tala continued to talk.
“I’m sure he didn’t mean what he said.” Raul said softly. “It’s just he is confused and being over come by stress. That’s why he is always angry now.”
“That still does not give him an excuse to yell at the world for just trying to help him out. I just hope he gets his head cleared up and well that he becomes the same old idiot I first met.”
“Yes me too.” The small animal mewed and nuzzled against the Spanish boy’s touch.
“Don’t try to think about it okay love.” He winked at Raul who lightly blushed.
“I’ll try.”







Kai was standing in front of the kitchen table placing variety of foods in three small lunch boxes. He then heard a knock at his door. He placed the fork down and walked over to answer it. He opened it up and was greeted by Jin.
“Jin what do you want?” The dual hair asked
“I need to talk to you. Can I come in?”
“I was about to head over to the hospital.”
“It won’t take long.”
“Alright.” The dual hair moved aside and allowed the older man to enter. “Take a seat.”
“Thanks.” Jin took a seat on the black couch and waited for Kai to follow him. Kai walked over and sat down on the red living chair and looked over at the older man.
“So what is it?”
“Listen Kai. Brooklyn is planning on delaying the production. I know you will leave this weekend but I was wondering if maybe you can stay here for a couple of more weeks.”
“I already spoke with the university down in Italy and they expect me there soon. I cannot simply ask them to extend my time just so I can work on a small production with you.”
“Kai Ki Shou is in the hospital and well we need to see if he will recover any time soon. Brooklyn is really broken up and Garland well we haven’t seen him since the night of the accident.”
“Jin I am truly feeling sorry for what happened to Ki Shou and of course his family but I cannot postpone my trip. Garland already has a new dancer so I am sorry but if you plan on delaying the production then fine by me. I need to get going now.” The dual hair stood up and walked over to the kitchen and began to pack up the lunch boxes.
“What about Rei? Kai I think he needs someone real close to him now.”
“Rei doesn’t need me. He has his friends. I am nothing to him and he is nothing to me as well.”
’Then why do you care if he eats? Why are you sad about what happened to his father? If you don’t care for him then why are you packing him a lunch?”
“I am not a cold hearted bastard either. I want to do a final good deed before I leave. Please lock the door when you leave.” With that the dual hair stepped out of the room leaving Jin alone still seated at the couch.
The older man sighed and ran his hand down his face.
‘This just seems all screwed up. Why did any of this happen? Brook I tried.”




“Rei I brought you a nice warm meal I made.”
“How did you make it at a hotel?”
“Oh I am staying at my grandmother’s house.”
“Your grandmother lives down here?”
“Well a few hours away from here but yes she does. Come on eat up.”
“Salima I’m really not hungry at the moment.” The raven hair moved the bag away.
“Please Rei. I don’t want you getting sick.”
“I can’t eat after seeing my dad. He looks like shit.” Rei lowered his head and sighed.
“Rei-rei please?”
The raven hair looked over at the girl with annoyance.
“Did you just call me Rei-rei?”
“Well yes.”
“My mother is the only person who can call me that.”
“But we are soon going to get married so I just thought you might want m to start calling you that.”
“How can you think about marriage at this time?”
“I’m not. I was just saying.”
“Salima don’t mention anything about that for now okay?!” He said in a bit of anger.
“I’m sorry. You’re right let’s just focus on father now.”
The raven hair looked over at her with annoyance.
‘Bitch he is my father.’
“At least try the chicken salad I made for you. I don’t want you getting sick.”
“Whatever.” ‘Just for you to shut up.’ He yanked the bag away from the red head girl’s hands and pulled out the topper ware with the meal in it. He forked up a bit of the meal and took it in. He chewed on it for a bit, he suddenly grabbed a napkin and spit the food into it.
“Is something wrong?”
“Yuck what the hell is this?” He looked over at her.
‘I’m sorry…I’m not good at cooking.” Tears began to form in her eyes.
“Whatever I’m not hungry anyways. Thanks for trying though.” He closed up the meal and placed it back in the bag. He looked over at the red hair girl who was sniffling. “Why are you crying?”
“I’m sorry Rei-rei. I guess I won’t make a very good wife if I can’t even make a decent salad.” She began to rub her teary eyes.
“Salima…” He sighed in pure annoyance. ‘This girl is such an idiot at times.’ He reached over and pulled her into a hug. “I said not to mention anything about marriage, and well the salad wasn’t really that bad. I guess cause I’m upset the food tastes a bit off. So please don’t cry.”
She clung onto him tightly and buried her face against his chest.
“I’m sorry…I just don’t want to think about Father being in the condition he is. I feel so useless to you Rei-rei.”
“It’s okay. I’m sorry for being mean to you at this moment. I just hate myself for causing all of this pain to my parents. Sorry Salima.” He began to rub the small of her back as she softly cried on the raven hair.



The dual hair stepped out of the elevator and made his way toward the waiting room where he was expecting to see Rei and Lanfei. He made his way toward the door and stopped at the entrance. There he saw Rei hugging the red hair girl. He felt a small sharp pain strike his heart but he ignored it and walked in. The raven hair looked up and saw Kai walking in. He removed himself from the girl and stood up.
“Kai what are you doing here?” He walked over to the dual hair and stood in front of him a few inches away.
“I made some food for you and your mother.” He lifted the bag with the lunch boxes inside.
“Oh.”
“You shouldn’t have Kai.” Salima spoke up and made her way toward the two. “That is very sweet of you but I already made a lunch for my Rei-rei. So you can just save that for yourself.” She hooked her arm around the raven hair’s arm and smiled at Kai.
“Salima stop calling me that okay? Kai you really shouldn’t have.”
“Whatever, I felt like it alright. Here give it to your mother. I don’t want her getting food poisoning from bad cooking.” He looked down at the red hair girl and smirked.
Rei took the bag and removed himself from Salima.
“Thanks. I’ll take it to her. She is with my dad right now. I’ll be back.” He looked at them both and made his way out of the small room.
“What do you think you are doing?” Salima hissed at the dual hair.
“Just making sure my lover eats properly.” He smirked at the girl once more.
“Shut up! He is not your lover understand! You screwed up his mind and just took advantage of his kindness. Listen to me you sick faggot! You stay away from my fiancé or I will be sure to report you to the police for rape.” She said in a tone of rage.
“You know what Salima I think your parents should have really called you Delilah. Because that is how you really are. You pretend to be sweet and caring but when Rei isn’t around you show your true hideous nature.”
“You have no right in saying that of me! You don’t know me!”
‘Yeah well you showed me all I want to know. Anyways princess your fiancé is gay and well let us just say you will need to grow a dick in order to keep him happy.” Kai smirked once more only to receive a hard slap across his face.
“Get out of here. You are not even part of this family.” She said in a deadly tone.
“You look like a guy but you hit like a girl.” He looked over at her in a serious look.
“Get out! Get out before I call security.”
“I have every right to be here princess. So sit down and shut up for once. I will not leave because you want me too, I will only leave if Rei doesn’t want me around.” He walked over to a chair and sat down. He crossed his arms over his chest and closed his eyes.
“Get out you homosexual freak! You should be the one in that hospital bed! You should be the one dying! You should die for your foul act!” She walked over and stood in front of him. “I said get out now!”
“Whatever princess.”
“You!You! I hate you!” With that the girl stormed out of the room leaving a smug looking Kai alone.
A few more minutes and Rei comes walking in with Lanfei.
“Kai oh I am so glad you are still here.” The woman walked over to the dual hair and hugged him tightly. “Thank you so much for the meals. Would you like to join us?”
“No that’s alright.”
“But you brought three lunches?” The woman looked at him in confusion.
“I brought it for Salima. But she decided to leave.” He stood up from his chair. “I just wanted to see how you were doing.”
“I am doing fine dear. And Ki Shou is fine as well.” She smiled at him.
“I’m glad. Well I need to get going. I need to start packing.”
“Kai are you moving already?”
“I’m sorry to say yes. The production has been delayed and well I really can’t stay. I need to be in Italy this weekend. I hope that Ki Shou regains consciousness.”
“Thank you.’ She pulled him into a tight embrace. “Please call anytime.”
“Thank you Lanfei.” He pulled away from the hug and made his way out of the room without saying a word to Rei.
“Rei-rei?”
“Yeah Ma?”
“Aren’t you going to go say goodbye? Or even try on stopping him?” She looked over at the raven hair who held his head down.
“What for?”
“Don’t you love him?”
“Ma please let’s not talk about this now.”
“Then when Rei-rei? When he is already gone forever from your life?”
“Ma dad is right now in a bed with tubes in him. How can you even say things like that?” He looked at her.
“Because your father would say the same thing sweetie. Rei-rei do you plan on lying for the rest of your life?”
“Lying about what? That I am a screw up and that everything I do hurts everyone.”
“Rei-rei when have you ever screwed p?”
“I almost killed myself…I got kicked out of the production.”
The woman sat down and looked at the bag.
“We all make mistakes…but that does not give us any reason to just give up on everything. Rei-rei killing yourself was not a smart idea but that is now in the past.”
“Ma…”
“What is happening kitten? You changed so much.”
“Life isn’t the same anymore.”
“Life is never the same. Life always changes and brings us new challenges. But is it right to kill yourself and give up on everything?”
“Is anything right? Is it right to love another guy or is it wrong?” He looked over at her.
“I don’t see how that can be wrong. You are in love. Love is something special that is shared between two people. Man or woman or man and a man. Love is love and no matter whom you love you should never consider it wrong. As long as he isn’t the abusive kind cause if he is then you definitely must leave his sorry ass.”
“Ma you cussed.”
“Don’t look so shock. But kitten you shouldn’t try and live a life for your father or myself. We want you to live for yourself and only to make us proud. Anyways let’s eat alright? Kai is such a wonderful cook. I would be happy to call him my daughter-in-law.” She looked over at Rei and smiled.
“Ma you really are a weird one.” He smiled at her and walked over to her.







It was 6:30 pm and Kai was busy placing a few more items in boxes. He heard the sound of the door being open and closed. He ignored it and continued to pack.
“Kai?”
He looked up and saw Rei standing over at the doorframe.
“What are you doing here?”
“I live here what else.” He walked over to his bed and flopped down.
The dual hair continued to pack his items.
“Don’t you think you should be with your mother?”
“She is fine. She fell asleep so I just decided to see if you needed any help.”
“You want to get rid of me that fast eh?”
“I guess so. Now I will be able to have this whole big place for myself.”
“I thought you were moving back to China.”
“Maybe later. But for now I am going to stick here until the production is done.”
“Whatever.”
The room went silent for a few more minutes until Rei cleared his voice.
“Kai?”
“What?”
Before he knew it the raven hair was kneeled in front of him.
“Stay for two more weeks. Please for me.”
“I can’t. If I said no to Brooklyn then I will say no to you too.” He was about to stand up when suddenly the raven hair tackled Kai down. “What the hell are you doing?”
“I want you to make love to me tonight please.” He buried his face in the nook of the dual hair’s neck.
“Idiot. I don’t have time for this. Get off.”
“Please Kai. Just for tonight.” He looked up at the dual hair with plead in his eyes. “Just one last time before you go.”
“What for? You want to make fun of my emotions again?”
“No.”
“I doubt it is because you love me. So get off.” He roughly pushed Rei off and stood up.
“Kai please just stay for two more weeks. Please.”
The dual hair picked the box up and walked out of the room.
Rei rested his head on the carpet and sighed.
‘I love you…so please don’t go. I need you’

Ta-da! What did you all think? Lame? Sappy? Eh sorry if that is how it came out but eh I got back from treatment and just decided to write nonstop! Wait what kind of an excuse is that? O_o anyway yes I am back but I cannot update as fast. My mother has bee massaging me. Thank you for being a massage therapist mom! T_T anyways but I still cannot abuse my wrist and arm.
