Chapter 6

- « And what about beginning this interview ? » said Trowa to the little assembly.
The three young men sitting in front of him looked at him with gratitude.
- « Well, Mister Yuy… »
- « Heero Yuy, it’s an original name… Are you Japanese ? »
Huh, isn’t it my role to ask the questions ? thought Trowa.
What does she want this one ? wondered Heero.
But she even doesn’t know how to behave during an interview ! exclaimed Quatre inwardly.
Poor girl… pitied Duo.
- « Yes. » answered coldly Heero.
- « Well. » took upwa swa smiling at Relena and preventing her to go on with her off-subject prattle. « You’ve probably heard about our activities, I will then take no notice and talk directly of your future job. »
Affirmative head sign from the concerned one. Heero was appreciating the fact that the project chief was going straight to the point. At least, he doesn’t talk for nothing !
- « My project deals with the exchanges between international banks, and only with the big amounts of money, the ones that work out at thousands or millions of US dollars. I just hired a data processing specialist to take care of the Asian relationship and evolutions needed on their side. I also need another junior project chief to manage all that is relationship and so on with the English-speaking countries, mainly the United States and the Great Britain. According to your Curriculum Vitae you’ve made your final training in the United States, you should then be relatively clever in English ? »
- « Absolutely. I worked for six months in Boston, Massachusetts. »
- « Boston must be such a pretty city ! »
Huh, there, the minute of silence is obligatory. So much stupidity in a so small head, it forces respect !
Effectively, an embarrassed silence collapsed on the room. Trowa quickly broke it.
- « Could you talk about it with more details ? What you did, the tools you used, the technical environment… »

Heero then begun a long speech, summing up the where, why, how of his training.
Duo was a little more relaxed. His challenger was doing well after all, and Trowa should like his synthesis skills and his perfect diction. Duo was drinking every word pronounced by Heero Yuy, without even trying to understand the meaning : it was the sound of his voice which was captivating him. Not to low, velvety, with constantly varying intonations, like a melody. And moreover, his Japanese accent was excessively pleasant. Duo was keeping his eyes low, and was imperceptibly eyeing Mister Yuy’s right thigh. Their thighs were separated from only a few centimetres, and this was enough to move Duo. My God but I must really be in love to be perturbed that much. Quatre may be right. It’s probably the competition’s attraction and the doubt which always push me to do too much in front of this charming guy. True…,thinking about it, usually I do not jump on people like this, I have a little more restraint, I have enough confidence in my inborn charm…

Quatre was pretending to scribble some notes on his pad, and couldn’t prevent himself from glancing at Trowa Barton every ten seconds. This stature… those shoulders… those eyes… Ah he really is magnificent. I really am lucky. I was hoping for everything, and I have the best. Moreover, it really doesn’t bother me that he is a man. After all, Duo has praised many times the pros and cons of both sides, male and female. And in fact, they are equally placed. He looked at his papers and noticed that he had unconsciously begun to make a sketch of the young project chief. This hit his heart, and he quickly stop his drawing, putting away his notebook in his suitcase discreetly.

Trowa was appreciating a lot the young man who was discoug. Hg. He will do a perfect element for his team. He seemed to be of a fearsome efficacy, he was going straight to the point, and his analysis skills seemed to work well. The only snag was his cold and aloof attitude, which could be easily perceived as contempt. And that’s what will certainly think Wufeï, I would put my hand into fire. The young Chinese he has hired the week earlier was of an impressive uprightness. He was respecting the regulations without any failure, and he was doing his hours until the very minute. He had a relatively good relationship with his male colleagues, but it was a little harder with his feminine ones, except with Sally, he had noticed. Probably because they were of the same racial origin. Yeah… I have a bad feeling concerning my two junior project chief. But well, Mister Yuy seems to be the missing element that the project needs. It will be okay even if it fights sometimes.

Relena Peacecraft as for her, was understanding nothing to what was saying Mister the-most-beautiful-eyes-of-the-world Yuy, first because she has never learnt how to work on a computer, she had learnt how to manage, nuance, and two, because she was too dazzled to even try to think.

- « Very well, Mister Yuy. I really liked your introduction. You correspond to what I’m seeking, but I can’t give you an answer tonight for all that, I still have to interview two other candidates for this job before deciding to whom I will entrust the job. »
- « I understand. »
- « But be assured, you have great chances to integrate the company… I mean, to work with us as a Gundam Force data processing specialist. » tried to rectify Relena. Undoubtedly, my mouth goes wild in front of such an Apollo, she thought. I hthe the Gundam Force company boss won’t take it bad.
Quatre winced, but made no comment.
Finally it may be of some good that she’s in love with him, thought Duo. A new contract, with a new company moreover, it’s good for my pay rise. All the more so this new company is one of the most prestigious bank of the state.
- « Mister Maxwell, » said Trowa getting up of his chair, « I’ll call you on Thursday evening to notify you about my decision. »
- « Perfect. » replied Duo getting up too and shaking his friend’s hand.
- « Mister Winner » went on the latter turning to face Quatre, « it was a pleasure. »
He had sparkling eyes and pinkish cheekbones, identical to his partner when he shacked back his hand.
- « For me too. » replied politely the blond guy. I hope my hand isn’t sticky !
- « Now if you would please excuse me » he said looking at his watch, « I have a meeting in less than five minutes. »
Then he took leave of, for the torment of Quatre who would have like to face him a little more longer, just to pleasure his eyes.
- « I will unfortunately have to go too » said Relena, especially for Heero. « I was glad to meet you Mister Yuy. »
- « The same here » he replied shaking her hand.
So… will she let go of me at any time ? !
The fuchsia chick hold Mister Yuy’s hand in hers during almost fifteen seconds, timed Duo. Then she deigned to face Quatre in order to shake hands quickly, and then she ostensibly ignored him before leaving without closing the door. Duo almost fall on his backside, open-mouthed. But…
- « No but did you see this lack of courtesy ! »
His boss looked at him ironically, seeming to say : « yeah but you do know how you looked at her, you asked for it a little, didn’t you ? »
Hmmm, yeah, maybe.
- « Well. Mister Yuy, I think you did a pretty good impression. I congratulate you, your behaviour was exemplary ng tng this interview. »
- « Thank you Sir. »
- « Even if you don’t have the job, I think we need strong element like you in our company. If you want, I can make your contract written tonight, thus you could pass by tomorrow to sign it. »
- « I prefer to wait in order to know if I have the job or not. »
- « As you wish. » said the Gundam Force boss, not annoyed at all.
What ? But… But… But why doesn’t he want to sign right now ? Eh ? My little Heero, come on, work with us…
A look of his boss ordered him to remain silent, and Duo almost choke repressing the sentence that was coming up from his throat.
- « My commercial will keep you inform of the evolutions. »
Affirmative head sign from both young men.
- « So, Misters, it’s time for me to go back to the agency. »
- « We’re heading back too. » said Duo.
