Chapter 7
Dragonblade: Ok, umm...airplane experience! Kinda short...just a transition chapter. Basically just getting them from China to America. And Rei being a little bitch ^^ …I seem to like that WAY too much
Kurai: *rolls eyes*
Seth, luckily my mother is computer illiterate ^^ and I put my *ahem* inappropriate anime pics within files; like, a file, within a file, within a file. So that way she can\'t accidentally stumble upon them. LOL oh no! I bet that was awkward trying to explain!
Thank you everyone for reviewing ^^
NOTE: Not much changed in this chapter, just some grammar and paragraphing. I know in the show Rei is very mellow and calm, but I DID notice that he looked fairly jealous when someone was talking to Kai, and he usually comments on Kai off-hand, plus he understands him WAY too well and he follows him around once in a while. I know Kai probably speaks Chinese as well as Rei does, but I decided to make him that way so Rei could get some payback ^^ …gotta put the neko-jin and the phoenix on some even ground once in a while! And in GRev Rei is a BITCH! Like, Oh My gods is he ever pissy! It\'s hilarious!

Chapter 7
The two teens stood in the crowded airport lobby; attempting to dodge other people rushing to get to their flights.
Kai slung his duffle bag over his shoulder and glanced back at the teetering Rei who had his duffle bag sitting at his feet. [1]
“Evil plane…leaving too damn early…” Rei grumbled, rubbing his eyes.
“We have a long flight, you can sleep then,” Kai responded, hiking his bag higher on his shoulder and maneuvered up to the front counter.
After Kai bought their tickets, the woman at the counter pointed the two in the proper direction and they left, making their way through the thick crowd.
Rei’s feet scuffed the ground as he shuffled along after his companion, almost getting lost in the throngs of people.
“Hurry up cat! The plane leaves soon!” Kai shouted over his shoulder, only receiving a grunt of acknowledgement.
He sighed in frustration and made his way back to the Mau, grabbing his hand and pulling him along. [2]
~*~*~*~*~
The two bladers jumped into their seats just as a large burly man stormed through.
Kai grumbled in irritation and Rei let out a low feline growl. Some people these days!
The Mau sat his shoulder bag down on the floor between his feet, stretching and wriggling as he tried to get comfortable.
“What’s that?” Kai asked, pointing to the black bag on the floor.
“Side bag, it’s got some stuff in it that I like to keep close. Like, money, ID, and some writing and drawing things,” Rei answered, curling up in his chair.
Kai was silent for a moment and when the pilot’s voice was heard over the com alerting them about take-off, he asked, “you’re not afraid of flying I hope.”
“Nope,” The Chinese male replied, “I love it.”
Most of the flight was spent in silence due to the fact that both boys slept. Apparently Kai didn’t get much sleep the night before either.
~*~*~*~*~
Rei was jolted awake by a strong tap on his shoulder.
“Huh?” Intelligent!
“They’re playing a movie, it’s in Chinese, I just thought you might like to watch it,” Kai explained, handing Rei the other set of headphones; his own hanging around his neck.
“Oh, sweet!” Rei exclaimed, taking the offered head piece, “thanks!”
A stewardess slowly went by, stopping and asking all of the flight patrons if they wished for anything off of the cart she was pushing.
When she stopped next to the bladers to ask them her well memorized 6-syllable question, her clear blue eyes raked over Kai and she smiled flirtatiously. Kai smiled back, engaging in small talk with the woman.
Rei’s golden eyes narrowed dangerously as he was over taken by the almost foreign feeling of jealousy.
Without thinking he rudely blurted out, “we said NO THANK YOU, now, I believe there are other people on this flight and the movie is about to start and we wish to watch it, so if you DON’T MIND!”
The woman glared at Rei, who returned it just as venomously. She huffed indignantly and continued on down the aisle; the ruffled Mau glared at her until she was out of his line of view.
Kai couldn’t help but gawk at his companion; he had never seen him act so possessive! He had seen small bouts of jealousy during the championships, especially with his friend Wyatt [3], but never anything to such a magnitude. Rei usually just directed heated glares towards anyone who showed an interest in him, but never actually snapped at them.
This completely changed Kai’s game. This show of possessiveness and jealousy made it SO much easier for him.
As Kai had said, the movie was in Chinese and had English subtitles. And because one cannot directly translate - and whoever translated the movie attempted to do so - a few subtitles didn’t make sense. It wasn’t that he couldn’t speak Chinese; it was that he didn’t speak it well. He used his Chinese when speaking to Rei’s mother to be polite, but he preferred Japanese, English, and his native tongue.
“Um, Rei…” Kai nudged his shoulder.
“Hm?” Rei asked, still absorbed in the movie.
“I didn’t get that last line, what did they say?”
Rei blinked in surprise, “I thought you spoke Chinese.”
“I do, sort of, it’s just that the actors are speaking too fast for me to catch it so I was reading the subtitles,” he explained.
“You spoke it fine to my mother!” the other blader exclaimed.
“And just how much did I say while I was there?” Kai arched a thin eyebrow.
“Good point, guess that’s why you switched to Japanese as soon as my mother left the room, huh?”
Kai nodded then asked, “will you translate?”
“No,” Rei grinned wickedly.
“Come on! I translated for you!”
“Only after I begged you too!” Rei countered.
Kai snorted and sunk low in his seat, pouting.
Rei laughed, “alright, alright!” He quickly translated.
After the movie was over Kai sunk back into the seat, intending on getting a few more hours of sleep, but some rustling and a jolt to his seat distracted him. He cracked open a crimson eye and saw Rei elbow deep in his shoulder bag. He was obviously looking for something.
With a triumphant laugh he pulled out a hard covered note-book and a pen. He opened the journal and started scribbling madly.
Kai leaned over, trying to see what he was writing. When Rei noticed him he clutched the journal to his chest [4], shaking his head and blushing. The slate-haired male chuckled and settled back in his chair, watching his Chinese friend out of the corner of his eye. The scribbling didn’t cease, and Kai\'s curiosity was sparked.
“What are you writing?” He asked.
Rei once again clutched the book to his chest, “personal stuff. I like to write about things that happen when I’m away from home.”
Kai nodded; interesting…
~*~*~*~*~
When the plane landed Kai woke up, Rei was pressed against the small circular window.
His eyes were lit up and comically wide.
“There are so many lights!” He exclaimed, “gods, I almost forgot what it was like here!”
~*~*~*~*~
The two males were herded out of the plane along with the large group and into the airport lobby.
“Hey Kai, how are we getting to Max’s?” Rei asked, tapping his shoulder lightly.
“He and his mother are meeting us here.”
“Oh cool! It will be so great to-“
“REI!”
The Chinese male was tackled to the ground by an over-excited blond American.
Max perched himself on Rei’s stomach, grinning down at the other male. He was completely oblivious to the attention their strange display had started to attract.
Rei gasped from the weight atop him, “hi Max.”
Max giggled - an action that looked out of place on the tall 17-year-old. He had grown taller than Rei and had broadened out in the chest and shoulders.
“Max!” His mother laughed.
“Hello Mrs.Mizuhara,” Rei wheezed.
Max took the hint and climbed off of the now flattened male, helping him to his feet.
“Hey Kai!” Max greeted, Kai nodded.
“How come you pounce on me and not him?” Rei asked; poking Max’s firm chest.
“Cause I don’t have a death wish,” Max answered, grinning at Kai.
“Oh, just a note of caution, Rei forgot his English,” Kai commented off-hand.
“KAI!” Rei wailed.
Max burst out laughing, “that’s ok! I’ll help you! You couldn’t have forgotten that much of it!”
“Oh yes he could,” Kai commented, earning a punch to his shoulder.
“Ready to go?” Max’s mother asked, looking at her watch.
“Yup!” Max chirped, “come on guys, car’s this way!”

[1] Ever watch a cat after it just wakes up? My cat is freaking hilarious after you wake her up so I’m kind of basing Rei off of her. I mean, she flops over randomly and when she is sitting she kind of teeters off to the side…all the while glaring at me for waking her up. Plus she gets this stoned look when I first wake her up, funny as all hell.
[2] I apologize for the lack of detail with the whole airport thing…I haven’t been on a plane since I was three…about 15 years ago, so my memory of the whole airport experience is a little non existent.
[3] No idea what his Japanese name is, but I just HAD to mention him, especially since I just saw the episode again the other day and giggled pretty much the entire time. Rei DOES act a little pissy once and a while, plus he pretty much psycho-analyzes Kai, which just shows he watches him way too damn closely.
[4] Ever see the episode where they chose random bladers (Ending up being Emily, Max, and some other little dude) to battle against three people, one being a hott actress? When Takao steals Rei’s picture of the actress and Rei manages to get it back, he clutches it to his chest and looks down (looking utterly adorable I might add) this is basically what he does with the journal.
