Garland yawned as he drove down the street; it was around 8 am and he was on his way to pick up Max so they could train. The silver haired man parked in front of Max\'s apartment and knocked on the door. \"Hey Max, it\'s me Garland,\" he called.

No one came to the door, which was odd. Max was always up at 6 am. \"Max?\" Garland knocked once more. Only this time the door pushed open. \"Daichi? Max?\" he called stepping inside.

Just then he heard Jueru whimpering, \"Hold on Jueru,\" the man called as he ran up the stairs. Garland went into Jueru\'s bedroom and stopped. Max was lying on the ground and blood was dried on his white shirt. \"Shit,\" Garland checked Max\'s neck. Yes, he was still alive.

\"Hold on Max.\"

Garland took out his cell and called 911

Tyson yawned as he sat up in his bed and he stretched. Rei was still asleep as Tyson looked over at him. Tyson had closed the Dragon/Tiger Dojo; he would reopen it once Rei had the twins but now he wanted to be by his lover’s side. The phone rang next to him.

\"Hello?\" he asked into the phone.

\"Tyson, it\'s me Garland.\"

Tyson sat up at the sound of Garlands voice. \"What is it Gar?\"

\"It\'s Max... He’s in the Heaven Hospital.\"

Tyson dropped the phone for a moment, stumbling to pick it up once again. “We’ll meet you there,” Tyson said quickly, his voice shaking with worry, his mind going over how this could have happened. “Bye,” he said with a quavering voice as he hung up the phone and proceeded to wake Rei up. They needed to get to the hospital right away.

“Why are we here?” Rei groaned as he rubbed his eyes, having been dragged from bed by his lover.

“Max was attacked,” Tyson quickly but calmly explained. \"What?!\"


Daichi woke up with his head pounding. He sat up and looked around; he was in a bedroom and the walls were colored light green with black flames all over them. ‘Where am I?\' He thought, then his eyes shot open \"Jueru, where are you?\" Daichi looked around the room and didn\'t see his baby. Daichi stood up and paid no mind the pain in his neck.

He walked over to the oak door and started to bang on it. \"Where the hell is she?!\" He yelled. \"Where is my child?\"

Bryan winced at the sound of Daichi pounding on the door. Kai was in his jackal form sound asleep in his old bedroom.

Bryan took a deep breath and opened the door and Daichi fell into the hallway and glared up at him. \"Where is she!\" He growled as his eyes flared.

Bryan didn\'t say anything, he just looked at Daichi, \"I\'m sorry…\" With that Bryan tackled Daichi to the ground.



\"He\'s going to be okay, he just lost a bit of blood,\" said Mr. Haku. He was the doctor that had worked on Max. It was only two hours later and Tyson was happy to hear his best friend was alive.

\"What about Ju..?\" asked Rei from behind Tyson.

The doctor smiled kindly down at Rei and said, \"she\'s doing fine, her and her father are in room 555. You can go see them now.\"

\"Thank you,\" said Kenny as the man walked off. Oliver and Kenny had just come back to Japan for a visit. They had moved to Paris and they wanted to see their friends only to find this.

\"Hey Maxie!\" Tyson said as they walked into the white room.

Max looked up from playing with Jueru and smiled. \"Hey ya guys.\"

\"What happened?\" asked Brooklyn as he stood away from Rei and Mystel. Rei stood next to Tyson and gripped his arm.

\"You have to keep calm in here, Rei,\" Tyson whispered.

\"It was Kai.\"

\"What?\" asked Hiro as he blinked. \"I don\'t think I heard you right.\"

Max quickly shook his head as he locked eyes with Tyson. “No, you heard me right,” he said, not daring a glance at Hiro. “Kai’s alive, but he’s not human.”

“He’s dead!” Tyson finally exploded, tears welling in his eyes over this cruel joke. “Rei made sure of it!”

Max shook his head, tears welling up in his eyes. “I can’t explain it but it’s Kai,” Max whispered. “I’m sure of it but this time he’s got fangs and claws!”

Rei instinctively grabbed onto Tyson’s arm and held it tightly as the hair on the back of his neck rose. A low growl escaped his throat as he pulled Tyson closer to him, wanting to protect him once more from the demon named Kai.

“He’ll be after Tyson,” Rei said, speaking up finally, his gold eyes glowing with hatred for the Russian.

“Rei, settle down,” Tyson whispered as he held Rei, rubbing his hand over the large bulge under his shirt. “You’ll harm the boys…”

Rei’s glance turned towards Tyson as he held onto him, almost possessively. “I won’t let him touch you, or our sons,” he hissed as he placed a hand over Tyson’s hand.

As everyone continued talking, making plans to protect Tyson, Garland, Brooklyn, Mystel and Oliver shared confused looks.

“Why do you want to kill him? Isn’t Kai your old teammate?” Oliver asked, beyond confused as he looked to his shorter husband for an answer.

Rei’s response to even the mention of Kai ever being close to them was near violent and Tyson dragged him from the room, hoping the tiger wouldn’t claw Oliver to death for his simple question. Kenny quickly explained what had happened over the years to his husband and by the end Oliver was burning in fury.

“How dare he!” That was the first time anyone had ever really seen Oliver lose his temper and it sent a shudder through everyone’s spines.

Kai stretched his spine. He was hungry and not for food. Elegantly he jumped off his bed and left in search of his mate. After a thorough search of the old mansion he hadn’t found him so he decided to head out and target whatever unfortunate whore he managed to find. He needed his hunger sated and anyone at all would do but he starved for the screams of one in particular.

He wanted Tyson’s screams once more; those filled him like none other.

Bryan gave a sigh of relief as he heard the door shut behind Kai. Finally he could breathe again. Staying hidden from a jackal wasn’t an easy task.

Max had ended crying himself to sleep once he had discovered that Daichi was nowhere to be found, so sure Kai had killed him as he finally fell into a restless sleep, Kenny stroking his hair lightly. He had offered to stay with Max while the others went home, Hiro, Garland, Brooklyn, and Mystel having gone home with Tyson and Rei to protect them if need be.

Oliver was cradling Jueru in his arms, smiling down at her. “Chief, I want our own baby.”

That caused Kenny to give a cough of surprise as he turned towards him in shock. “You what?”

\"Get away...” Rei growled as he snarled at Brooklyn, who was growling at Rei. Both men were snarling at each other and Garland, Tyson, Hiro, and Mystel could only watch as they growled.

As soon as they walked though the door, Rei and Brooklyn stared at each other. \"Hey clam down...\" said Hiro as he stood up. \"We have to look out for Tyson. \"


Brooklyn\'s eyes narrowed into slits and Rei\'s did the same. They didn\'t seem to hear Hiro. \"Iyaha,\" he said with a groan. \"Hey Mys, why aren\'t you acting like them?\" He asked.

\"I’m not carrying a child inside me, and I don\'t act like that unless one came at me.\" He said with a smile. The blond was eerily hyper today.

\"Rei calm down,\" Tyson said as he stood up. But Rei was too far gone to hear him, as was Brooklyn. Then Brooklyn\'s eyes shot open as he grabbed his middle in pain and fell to the ground.

\"Brook, what is it?\" Garland asked as he ran to his side.

Brook only yelped in a pain. \"It hurts...\"

\"Ummm guys...I think his water broke…\" Mystel said with a smile. His lighthearted nature earned him a slap over the head from his lover.

Bryan looked at the knocked out Daichi. Bryan had hit Dai in the neck to shut him up, but now he felt bad about it. He pushed some of Daichi\'s hair out of the way when the red head began to move and groan, his piercing emerald eyes opening again.

“Maxie, Jueru,” Daichi groaned as he pushed himself up with a heave of his large body only to lay back down again, unable to stay awake. “Tyson, it’s Kai, protect your babies… protect…”

Babies? Bryan through as he stared at Daichi whose eyes darted from one corner to another as he took in his surroundings.


Did that mean Rei was pregnant? He shook his head, trying to bring his mind into order and as he opened his eyes. He didn’t have time to react as the fist connected to his face.

Bryan stumbled back, gasping as he felt blood running down his face from his now broken nose.

Daichi was breathing hard as he glared at Bryan. “Where’s Jueru,” he snarled as Bryan blinked through his blood.

“With your husband,” Bryan said as he opened the door and released the red-head. This was the right thing to do. Kai shouldn’t have brought Rei’s and Tyson’s friends into this.

Brooklyn took a deep breath as Garland held his hand, seeing his lover’s body shaking as the gas mask was placed over his face to put him to sleep while the operation took place. It had taken three hours just to get his mate in and Garland was beyond stressed.

He ran his hand through the orange hair and shut his eyes as he was pulled away from the surgery room.

“Make it through,” Garland whispered as he buried his face in his hands. His hands were shaking as he sat down in the waiting room. He could only hope nothing would happen to hinder his love’s life.

Kenny glanced up and glanced towards Oliver, Jueru sleeping contentedly in his arms as the door slammed open, a panting figure waiting just in the frame.
