Chapter 8
Dragonblade: New chapter ^^ and a totally hyper Max. I don’t know…I think getting Max hyper is too fucking fun. I’d also like to get Rei smashed…*shrugs* I am going to have so much fucking FUN writing the next chapter…even I’m excited for it! LMAO! Hmm…maybe I should apologize in advance to any Rei fans *evil grin*

NOTE: About spelling and nicknames. For some strange reason that even I don’t know, I try to keep their American nicknames; I did it with my Yu-Gi-Oh fic as well…just a personal quirk I guess. And I noticed in a review for one of Bleeders fic’s someone had mentioned that Kyoujyu is spelt without the second ‘y’, well, where I got my information from they had it spelt with the second ‘y’ so I’m just going by that.

Chapter 8
The drive to the Mizuhara’s household was relatively short, but to Rei it felt like an eternity. Kai had called shot-gun almost immediately, allowing him to sit up in the front of the mini-van without a fight. This left Rei in the back with a rambling sugar-high blond.
“It’s so great in the new place! There’s lots of room to run around, and we have a swimming pool out back, and ~” Max bounced around enthusiastically, waving his hands to emphasize one point or another.
[1] Max’s mother chuckled, “don’t worry boys, he isn’t always like this. Takao thought it would be funny to give my little Maxie here some of his cappuccino.”
“I thought he was a little too hyper,” Kai mused.
Max giggled, “I usually don’t drink anything with caffeine, and if I ever drink coffee it has to be decaf,” he stuck his tongue out in disgust.
“I can see why,” Rei teased, “oh! You said Takao, he’s here?”
“Yup!” Max grinned.
“He and Kyoujyu had some running around to do, so Max just came with me to pick you boys up.”
“That’s cause Ty wanted some ‘alone time’ with Kyou,” Max said mischievously.
Kai and Rei spun around to face the energetic blond, “what!?”
“You guys don’t know? Takao has a crush on the Chief!”
The other bladers simply gaped for a moment, trying to comprehend what they had just been told.
“No way!” Rei laughed, breaking the growing silence.
“Yes way! And you haven’t seen Kyoujyu in a while Rei, you’ll be surprised!”
Rei looked to Max skeptically, “it’s only been a year and a half, how much could he have possibly changed?”
Max grinned wickedly, “you’ll see,” he sang.
Kai chuckled lightly and shook his head, drawing attention to himself, “I should have noticed! It was only too obvious!”
“It was?”
“Rei, think about it! Think about all the tournaments we’ve been to. Those two almost always shared a bed, plus, Takao never passed up an opportunity to touch the Chief; whether it was a hand on the shoulder, or a playful nudge. Not to mention Takao followed him around like a lost puppy,” the Russian explained [2].
The Mau’s eyes widened comically, “oh my gods, you’re right! I never noticed! I cannot believe I never noticed!”
That’s because you were always unconsciously watching me, Kai thought to himself.
“Yup, yup! Our little Kyou has a secret admirer! And it’s driving poor Dizzi insane!” Max laughed [3].
Kai turned back around to face the blond, “Dizzi?”
“Yup! She knows about Ty’s crush but she promised him that she wouldn’t enlighten Kyoujyu,” the American youth grinned, still bouncing.
“Max hunny,” his mother interrupted, “we’re almost home, when we get there why don’t you show these two to the guest rooms, I’m sure they’re tired from their flight.”
“‘Kay mom!”
The dark violet van pulled into the driveway at the same time Takao and Kyoujyu neared the front door.
Max was out of the van in a flash of blond and green, leaving a bewildered and slightly flattened Rei in his wake.
“Takao!” Max squealed happily, tackling the other male to the ground.
Rei and Kai helped the female Mizuhara unload the mini-van, and then they headed towards the house.
Kyo ran up to Rei and grabbed the duffel slowly sliding from his shoulder.
“Thanks Chief!” Rei happily unloaded the bag onto the caramel haired teen.
The Chinese male was suddenly caught off guard when he didn’t have to look down to see the techie. Kyou had grown a few inches taller than Rei’s menacing 5’5 [4], but he was still extremely thin. On that day, instead of the ties and pocket protectors Rei was used to, the other teen decided to wear a simple pair of blue jean shorts and a button-down white dress shirt.
Looks like a person can actually change a lot in a year and a half [5]!
Max bounced from foot to foot before front door, impatiently waiting for it to be unlocked. The elder Mizuhara tossed the house keys to her son, and almost immediately the door was flung open.
“Ne, ne! Big house, ne? Let’s go! Let’s go!” Max’s voice trailed back to the group as he darted through the front hall [6].
Kai grabbed Takao by the collar before the blue-haired teen could escape, “give him that much caffeine again and I’ll start removing vital body-parts.”
Takao paled, “hai,” he squeaked before breaking from the Russian’s grip and following the blond into the depths of the large house.
The house was comfortably large with grand bay windows to light up the spacious front interior. The walls were painted white to reflect the light and make the rooms feel constantly fresh and clean. The living room was filled with the latest technology, which included a big screen television and a large stereo system. A few different game consoles were littered in front of the TV.
“Wow, isn’t this place a little big for just you and Max?” Rei asked, used to the small closed in living conditions of his village.
“Well, this is also the AllStarz second home, they all have bedrooms upstairs along with Max’s,” Mizuhara explained [7].
“Makes sense,” Kai mumbled, looking up at the ceiling.
Max came darting back, Takao in tow. “I’ll show you your rooms! This way! This way!” He tugged on Rei’s sleeve before taking the stairs two at a time.
The stairs were covered by a light gray carpet, as was the upper hallway. The walls were also white; which helped to brighten the window-less area. Max threw open a door at the beginning of the hallway that was plastered with magazine clippings.
“This is my room!” he announced proudly.
Max’s room was surprisingly clean; the floor was void of any clothing and the bed was made. The walls were painted a medium blue and the carpet was off white in colour. The large far window and the white carpet helped to keep the room from looking to dark.
Max ran into the room and gestured widely, “ne, ne?”
Takao peered over Kai’s shoulder, resting his hand on the Russians lower back.
Rei noticed the friendly touch and frowned, a small feline fang slipping over his bottom lip.
Before anyone could comment Max darted past them and further down the hall, peering into doorways.
“Michaels room!” He pointed to a door with a few baseball magazine clippings on it, “go in it and you’ll have to deal with him.”
Max ran across the hall and opened a plain white door, “Eddy’s room! He hasn’t been around much so he hasn’t had time to decorate!”
The blond darted off again and showed his guests the remaining two AllStarz rooms, “Emily will dissect you if she catches you in there!” He giggled madly and sprinted up another set of stairs at the end of the hall.
The stairs led to an open hallway bordered by a low railing; the hallway curved around to lead just above the living room.
There were four doors along the hall, all visible from the living room.
Max pointed to the first door, “moms’ room, no entry!”
The next two doors led to two guest rooms and the last was a large bathroom.
“Sorry guys, but you\'re going to have to share. Takao and Kyou have taken one of the rooms so that leaves Kai and Rei in the other room, is that ok?” Max let out, practically in one breath.
It took Rei a second to absorb the information that seemed determined to wind-tunnel due to the speed that it was delivered at. His eyes flew open when the fact that he and Kai would once again be sharing a room sunk in.
“That’s fine,” why are they all making this so easy for me? Kai smirked.
“Yup!” Takao grinned, resting a hand on Kyoujyu’s shoulder.
“Wai!” Max cheered, “put your stuff away and let’s go swimming!” He darted off immediately in the direction of his room without waiting for a response.
“I really have to stop giving him caffeine,” Takao stared in bewilderment.
The others all nodded in agreement.

[1] I don’t know her Japanese name; I have no idea if it’s Judy (doubtful) or if it’s something else so I am completely avoiding any trouble by not referring to her by her first name. That’s why I’ve called her a bunch of weird things.
[2] This is stuff I have actually noticed throughout the series. Takao is ALWAYS with Kyoujyu, and in one episode they are in a hotel with 2 beds…this was the layout – Max took one bed, Rei was on the couch, Kai was behind the couch (I have no idea), and Kyou and Takao shared the last bed. Plus, Takao is always touching Kyou, either a playful shove, a hand on the shoulder, whatever. So sorry to all you TyKai/whatever lovers, I just think that our little bishie-geek needs some attention too! And just recently I watched the first six episodes, and OH MY GOD, Kenny (yes, Kenny, I watched hte english version) was blushing and giggling whenever he was around Tyson (english version, remember), it was SO damn cute!
[3] I KNOW Dizzi doesn’t exist or whatever the fuck, but I completely LOVE her and I flat out REFUSE to leave her out! Don’t like it? I am very sorry to say this but – TOUGH! I didn’t hold a gun to your head and tell you to read this.
[4] Really sorry, I don’t know what his actual height is, but I know Asians are relatively short. I’m only about 5’3 and I’ve been told that I’d fit in perfectly. So I made Rei a little taller than myself, hoping to hit around the range of his actual height.
[5] If I can shock the hell out of people in a span of three months…I think Kyo can totally blow them away in a year and a half.
[6] Ever seen Fruits Baskets? Well, a lot of the characters (especially one of my favorites - Momiji) say ‘ne, ne!’ (I’m not sure the spelling, sorry) which basically means ‘see, see!’ And when Momiji says it he’s really excited so it comes out really quickly and high pitched (damn cute if you ask me) so I can kind of see Max doing something like that while buzzed on caffeine. Plus I’m on a massive Furuba kick.
[7] No idea, but I liked the idea of them having a ‘second home’ with Max’s mother. Just, bare with me here ok? LOL!
