Here’s chapter 8! Yea!! I could drag this story out for a long time but I have so many to write so I probably won’t……. I already have one that is actually an epic……..or well on it’s way…
So I’ll keep this one fairly short. There wasn’t as much humor in this one as I planned sorry guys…….

Hilde woke tangled in Duo’s arms. Sometime during their sleep they had intertwined. His face was nuzzled in the base of her neck, his breathing warm on her skin. Her right hand moved fluidly to his hair and her fingers played with the loose strands of his bangs. She sighed, savoring the closeness. She could see the last bit of daylight streaking through the curtains . Her stomach growled loudly. She glanced at the clock, noting the time. No wonder she was hungry. She looked at the bag sitting on the dresser, and willed it to come to her.
She wanted to get up and get a drink but she also ed ed to do it with out disturbing Duo. She shook her head, there was no way to do any of it.
She gently shook him.
“Duo. Duo.” She said softly. “Wake up.”
He groaned and rolled off her. She jumped off the bed and ran to the bathroom. When she came out , he was sitting up.
“Hey.” He said to her.
“Hungry?” She asked.
He nodded, watching her move around the room. He was hungry alright but food wasn’t the nourishment he wanted right then. He closed his eyes and tried to drive those thoughts out of his head. He reopened them when he felt the bed move with her weight. She leaned close to him and handed him a bottle of soda and a Twinkie. He gulped as he took the items from her, as she sat next to him.
They ate in silence. After a few minutes, Hilde cleared her throat.
“Um…. Duo….. Well … I ….” She sighed in frustration.
“Hilde? What…..”
She raised her hand , “Let me do this , ok. I just have to get the words right.” She paused, then turned toward him. “Ok, I know we haven’t known each other long but ….. Well… I think you could be someone could fall in love with and if you want to give it a go, I would be willing to.” She stopped , then raised her hand when he opened his mouth to say something. “Wait, I know I have gotten you into a mess but I’m really glad I met you and I ….. I mean if you would rather not, I would understand.” She looked away from him. “ Do you believe in love at first sight?”
He said nothing at first, pondering her words and her question. He looked up into her deep blue eyes and replied, “Yes, to all your questions.”
His words didn’t register to her at once and she continued to ramble on. “ Well, I have a confession to make , I hope you don’t mind …. I think I am in love with you.. I’m really sure I’ve never been in love before. I just thought I was going to die when I saw Phil shoot you! I wanted to come back and gather you in my arms and never let you go. Do you think I’m too forward? Oh God!” She slapped her hand to her mouth and mumbled something about saying too much. She started to slip from the bed so she could hide in the bathroom and die of embarrassment .
Duo’s hand reached out and grasped her arm. “Where are you going? Didn’t you hear me?”
“Huh?” She replied as she looked down at his hand on her arm. She looked up at him.
“Hilde. I said yes. Yes to all your questions. Yes, I would like to give it a go with you, yes , I believe in love at first sight. And I think I have fallen for you, too.”
“Really? You’re not just saying this so I won’t feel like al?” l?”
“Hey, I might run and hide but I never lie.”
She giggled at the statement. “I don’t see you ever running and hiding.”
He grinned at her, “It’s been known to happen.” He pulled on her arm. “Now come over here so I can put my arm around you. Let’s start this romance right, ok?”
She snuggled up close to him as his arm ended up over her shoulders. “that’s better. Where is thatote.ote.?”

Heero Yuy was pissed. What he saw in the motel room made him raise his arm and fire two rounds into the wall, barely missing the two men he was aiming at.
“You stupid incompetent idiots. What the fuck happened here? “ He said his voice cold and dead.
Max looked up from his position on the floor and mumbled, ‘We were caught off guard.”
“Caught off guard? CAUGHT OFF GUARD???? The next bullet is going into someone’s brain if I don’t some answers now!” He raised the gun and pulled the trigger back.
The five men began to babble at once. Heero’s face became dark and he fired the gun.
“Shut up.”
One of the men slumped forward, blood staining the floor and wall.
Relena’s mouth shot open.
“Heero, calm down! This is a public place. You’ll have to explain this so…”
He turned to her and glared. She glared back.
“I can stand here and glare at you as long as you like , but your prey is getting away. And you’re still a cold-blooded killer.”
“I’ll kill you.”
“Yeah, what ever” She sighed, pushing past him into the room. She went to Max and pulled at his arms. She looked over to Heero. “Pocket knife?”
He glared at her as he reached into his pocket and tossed her a small knife. She ht ht it and hit the button on it. It popped open to reveal a 6” blade. “ Hey aren’t these illegal?”
He said nothing.
She shook her head and Cut Max’s bonds. After she was done cutting all the men free, she stood by the one Heero had shot. She pointed to him.
“Well, what are you going to do with this one?”
“Put him in the trunk after dark.”
She put her hands on her hips, ”I don’t think so.” She said with conviction.
“What do you suggest?”
She frowned.. Looking around the room. She pointed to the bed and said . “There. And leave some extra money for the mess.”
He eyed her warily.
“Do you know how hard it is to clean up blood?”
He nodded giving into her.
Relena watched as the other men picked up their dead comrade and dumped him on the bed.
“Cover him up.” Then he was forgotten.
Heero turned to Max. “Spill.”
Max gulped. “We were jumped by the guy’s trucker friends. We don’t know w here Miss Schibecker is but we think she’s still here. Maxwell was hurt and unconscious so they couldn’t havttentten far.”
Heero growled. “It better be true for your sakes. All of yours.”
Relena grabbed his arm. “Come on Heero. Let’s get that room. I want to take a shower and eat something. “
He turned to glare at her but realized she was immune to his temper tantrums , and went with her reluctantly.
He turned back to the men in the room. “I want names of the men who did this . And who Hilde is with.”
“Duo Maxwell.”
“What?”
“That’s the guy’s name.”
Heero said nothing as the y left the room.

Relena stretched out on the bed and sighed. The door to the a jointing rooms was open and she could hear Heero rummaging around. She sighed and got off the bed to walk to the door. She took one step when he appeared in the door way.
“Dress. We are going to the restaurant to eat.”
“Kinda bossy aren’t we?’
“Do you want to eat?” He stared at her.
“Ok. Ok.” She turned away to grab a few clothes from her suitcase. She turned back to see him still in the door way. “Are you going to leave?”
“No.”
“OK, have it your way.” She turned her back to him and dressed. She turned around and looked at him. “Was it as good for you as it was for me??”
He snorted and disappeared into his room. Relena laughed to herself as she followed him.

The restaurant wasn’t busy at all as the two of them sat down at a table. Heero said nothing to he waitress when she brought them menus and water. She said she would return in a few minutes.
Relena growled at Heero, telling him he needed to get a personality.

Hilde smiled as she disengaged herself from Duo’s embrace. She shook him gently to wake him.
“Hey, “I’m gonna go to the convence store. I want some coffee. Ok?”
“Ok, be careful he could be here you know.”
She nodded. “I know, I’ll be careful.”
Hilde put the key in her pocket and slipped out the door. Duo was leery about letting her go but he couldn’t really stop her.
Hilde moved through the shadows , not paying attention to cars and other objects as she made her way to the convenience store. It was getting late and she didn’t know if it was open all night. She needed the coffee, badly.

Relena placed her napkin down on to her plate and sighed. “That was delious.”
“Hn.” Was Heero’s reply.
“Well, let’s go, Yuy.” She said as she stood. Heero threw some money on the table to pay the bill and followed her out.
She stopped in front of him and he ran into her.
“What ….”
“Shhh.” She said, pointing in front of her at the counter. “It’s her.” She started to go toward Hilde, but Heero grabbed her arm.
“Wait, let’s follow. I want him too.”
Relena looked up at him and nodded.
