Chapter 7
“Why are you doing this?”
If I'm gone when you wake up, please don't cry.
And if I'm gone when you wake up, it's not good-bye.
Don't look back at this time
As a time of heartbreak and distress.
Remember me, remember me.
'Cuz I'll be with you in your dreams.
-Hanson ‘With you in your Dreams‘
Heero’s view
I entered my room. Duo was on my bed staring up at the ceiling, as I shut the door, he turned his gaze towards me.
“Your laptop is stupid, you know that, right?” I rolled my eyes as I headed over to the laptop. I placed it on my bed and motioned for him to move over. Once settled in I hit a few keys as a list came up showing me all the past ‘Passwords’ that were entered.
“I highly doubt I’m going to ever use the word ‘butt munch’, as a password Duo.” I said.
“Actually, it’s two words, and how do you know what I..” He sat up behind me and looked over my shoulder at the computer screen. “You know, it would be a whole lot easier if you just told... me what... the pass...” He was becoming fidgety behind my back. I then felt his arms around my waist and his head on my lower back.
“What are you doing?” His grip tightened around my waist.
“Trying to find a position where I don’t feel the pain in my ass, you got a problem with that!” But before I could answer, there was a knock on the door.
“Tell them to go away.” And with that Duo dug his head farther in to the small of my back. The person behind the door said.
“Heero!.. Its me Relena, may I come in?”
“No.” Came Duo soft reply as I felt him getting off me.
“Yes.” Came my own, louder reply. The door opened revealing Relena Peacecraft. She gave me a big grin that quickly fell as her gaze turned to the person behind me. She looked back at me before she spoke.
“It’s so good to see you again, Heero. How have you been?”
“Oh he’s fine, and so am I, thanks for asking, but we are in the middle of important mission stuff so, if you could just leave, that would be really nice, thanks.” I stared at Duo as he said this. He glance back and jerked his head to the computer behind me. I looked at it and saw that I had already open my search engine.
“You get back to work, I’ll take care of her.” He whispered to me. I looked over at Relena and saw that she had her hands on her hips and a scowl on her face. Since I wasn’t in the mood for a ‘Relena chat’, I nodded to Duo and let him take care of things as I focused my attention back to my computer. I felt a little guilty for ignoring the girl, but after my fight with Quatre I don’t think I could handle any more confrontations, and her face told me she wanted one.
“Why don’t you let Heero speak for himself?” Came her squeaky voiced question.
“Because he wants me to speak for him, like I said, he’s BUSY.” Duo spoke his last word slowly.
“Why doesn’t he say that himself, then!” Her voice had gotten higher, if such a notion is even physically possible.
"Why don't you just admit that you've wanted to shag Yuy since day one,... Oh, hey Wuffles!" I hadn’t even heard Wufei come in. I decided it was time to get back down to business so I kindly asked Relena to leave. Wufei sat down next to me as I started opening numerous files.
"So what do we have here?" Duo asked. He stared to scoot up behind me again. He could be so dense sometimes.
"Nothing that concerns you." Why would he think he was ready for another mission when he was complaining about his pain, not two minutes ago.
"What do you mean, we got another assignment right?" He kept inching towards me. Did I really have to be... what was that phase he uses... oh yeah, Captain Obvious for him.
"Myself and Wufei did, your not going on this one." There I think that cleared things up. But just in case I ceased my typing and waited for his response.
"WHAT! Why the fuck not!" AT that point I just turned my head and stared him down. It seems that the eye contact had knocked some sense into him. He said a soft ‘oh’ after that. With that same soft voice he asked, "Well, when do you think you’ll be leaving for this thing?" I knew he wasn’t going to like my answer.
"As soon as I found out where we're going." Instead of lashing out like I thought he would, he came even closer to me. With his hand on my back he asked,
"But who’s gonna help me with my…stuff." He took a quick glance at Wufei before he said the word ‘stuff’. I had to force myself not to smirk. I had already thought of what I was going to do about that.
"Trowa and Quatre are staying as well, I'll explain things to them before I leave." It was on my already long list of things to do in the next twenty four hours. I started going through the list in my head seeing when I could find the time to even fit that task in. I felt Duo’s head on my back again.
"But why do you have to leave so soon?" Was he whining? Secret agents don’t whine, then again this IS Duo. I was about to push him off but I felt him fidgeting again so I decided to leave him be. As long as he wasn’t in pain, I really didn’t care how he positioned himself, as long as it didn’t interfere with my typing.
"Orders." I responded to his question. His response to this was to wrap his arms around my waist again. I took this as a sign that we were done talking so I went back to my computer work. I gave Wufei some orders to look though past files and tell me if he could find a pattern among the target’s victims. After a few hours, not much progress was made on his end. He found very few similarities based on the letters sent to each victim. I, myself, had made much progress. I was looking though some government agent profiles for possible candidates to be recruited for my mission. It seems due to Wufei's lack of progress, he thought we should take a break. After I shot the idea down though he reinstated he suggestion by saying that Duo looked like he could use some food. It appears that I had already gotten accustomed to having Duo so close to me (and apparently sleeping on me). His presence had almost gone unnoticed, almost.
"All right, we'll stop for now. You go on ahead and I’ll get him ready." Wufei headed out of the room. Once he was gone I reached behind me and tried to shake Duo awake. His grip tighten a bit around my waist and he pressed his head deeper into my back, and yet he remained asleep.
“Duo, get up, it’s time to eat.” I felt he head lift off of me.
“Wha?”
“It’s time for dinner.”
“I don’t think I can mooove.” He laid his head against me again.
“I’ll carry you.” He sat up then. I turned my body so I was facing him. He had a big grin on his face.
“You don’t mind?” He was gazing at the bed spread before him as he said this. A gesture that was very unlike him.
“No. Now just wait here for a few minutes.” I decided now was as good a time as any to go talk with Quatre and Trowa. Before I shut the door to leave I heard a “Where am I gonna go?”, from Duo.
After visiting the boys I couldn’t help but wonder what I had almost walk in on. Quatre’s shirt was backwards, I distinctly heard Trowa tell him to put his clothes on, and then I heard a questions on the whereabouts of some pants were. It all added up to something not good. Though I really didn’t care what those two did behind closed doors, I can’t let anything happen that can affect their performance on future missions. And they really shouldn’t be doing... anything that could possibly aggravate their injuries. I was planning on telling them that myself ...later.
Dinner was more or less entertaining, with Relena incessantly talking her mouth off. And Duo was whispering to Wufei from time to time. By their body language alone I knew it wasn’t a conversation I wanted to be part of. When I did hear my name I looked over but they all, even Quatre and Trowa, went quiet. They better not have been discussing anything they shouldn’t have!
After dinner I went back upstairs; carrying Duo the whole way. I laid him back down on my bed. For half a second I wondered why I didn’t just bring him back to his own room. But I didn’t get the chance to answer myself because when I turned around, Quatre was in front of me. It turns out he had followed me up here to apologize for the way he had acted earlier. I accepted his apology. As he was walking away I remembered my rambling thoughts from earlier. I quickly followed Quatre out to the hallway. He turned and looked at me... what was I going to say again?
"Is something wrong, Heero?" Oh right about earlier... how was I going to word this... might as well approach it like I do everything else... be blunt.
"When I came to visit you and Trowa, I noticed you had your shirt on the wrong way..." I really didn’t know where to go from that train of thought, so I decided to try again.
"So."
"And I heard Trowa tell you to get dressed. I just want to remind that you are injured and should refrain from... such activities." It was less blunt then I had intended it to be but then again I was never good with talking about such... intimate, things. He told me he would (not do it). He then told me to be careful during my mission. I took this as a sign that he truly was no longer mad at me.
"You too."
"Of what?" He asked.
"Trowa." I smirked at him while I reentered my room.
Duo was sitting on my bed. It looked like he wanted to talk. I still had so much to do before this mission got underway, I really didn’t have time to talk. I contemplated just brushing him of but realized that it would take longer to accomplish that, then if I just let him speak.
“What’s wrong?”
“Nothing.” The short answer in itself told me that something WAS wrong. His eyes went back to my floor. More specifically to the area of things that he had taken out of my bag. My eyes looked at the folded up piece of paper again. He better not have looked at that. Or else how was I going to explain it. Maybe that’s why he ‘s quiet. He’s waiting of an explanation.
“You want me to explain to you about what you found in my bag.” His eyes widened in shock. But then he nodded.
“Is is that obvious... stupid question, of course it is for YOU to notice. It’s just... why? Why do you have all that, stuff Heero, you don’t seem like that kind of guy that... uses such devices, and I mean god, sure we do a lot of things adults do, and we’re all very mature for our ages and such, but be we’re still only fifteen, sheesh!” He laughed to himself then became quiet as he looked at the ground and then back up at me. I guess he thought he had said too much. I looked at him and then back at the things on the floor. He wasn’t talking about the paper. It didn’t make any sense if he was, I looked to the book, I haven’t even read it so if could very well be that, my gun... guess I had to find a new place to hide that.... my spare clothes, no, Duo spare hair brush, no, spare computer parts, no, the pills, no, Wufei’s lubrication and his condoms, those aren’t ‘devices’ and their not even mine, he should know I don’t own stuff like that so... no. What devices was he talking about then?
“What are you talking...”
“The condoms Heero, why do have them!” He sounded angry. He has been sounding angry a lot lately.
“They’re not mine.”
“Bullshiiiit.” He said this in a much lower tone. I knew by repeating myself he would have to listen to what I was saying eventually. I find myself having to do this a lot with him.
“They are not mine.”
‘You know if you don’t want to tell me what’s really going on that’s fine... but don’t lie to me Heero.”
“They do not belong to me.”
“Well, if they aren’t yours, whose are they then, huh?” Works every time, and it is usually by the third time too.
“If I could tell you I would have, but I promised the person I wouldn’t.” I might have said too much already.
“You promised, that’s means they belong to one of the guys, they’re your only friends besides me.” I DID say too much. AND I HAVE OTHER FRIENDS! Sort of.
“Just drop the subject, Duo. I have to get ready.” It was true, I was wasting too much time on Duo’s little interrogation, I had to get back to work. I started picking the things up off the floor and putting them back into my bag. I threw the book on my bed next to Duo. He looked at the book and then back at me. Apparently, he didn’t want to stop talking yet. He didn’t have much of a choice though, because at that moment there was a knock on my door. His attention went to the door and he sent a glare at it. I got up and went over to the door. Standing before me was Wufei. That threw my mind of Duo and back on to the mission at hand.
“Can I talk to you in private, please?” Was his request.
“He did say ‘please’ Hee - chan.” Came the voice behind me. I just nodded and moved out into the hallway, shutting the door behind me. Once in the hallway, Wufei took his time before saying anything. I knew I wasn’t going to like what I was about to hear.
“What?” I don’t think I’ve had so many uncomfortable conversations with my teammates in one day before. This last mission must have really gotten to them, mentally. Even Duo acting strangely. Though I can’t blame him for being in a foul mood.
“I don’t think it would be wise if I joined you on this mission.” Were my comrades trying to anger me, now. Since I am their leader, did they blame me for leading them into a trap, and then getting caught and tortured?
“ What brings you to that conclusion?”
“I just don’t think I could kill anyone right now, Heero. I Know you didn’t want what happen between me and Quatre to affect future missions but I think it will for this one. I’m sorry.” I was right. I didn't like what I was hearing.
“Quatre has nothing to do with the mission.”
“He doesn’t agree with it and I don’t want him to be any more angry with me than he already is.” If Wufei had told me this a day ago, or before dinner, I would have believe him. That, and if I couldn’t tell when someone was lying to me.
“I see. I’ll let you off this time under one condition.”
“Name it.”
“Tell me the real reason you don’t want to go.” Wufei’s movements froze. Further proof that my suspicions were correct. I waited patiently for his response. I did not appreciate being lie to. He must have thought that I wouldn’t accept he real reason for wanting to back out. He was most likely right.
“Fine. I... look you wouldn’t understand but there is a man that I met and he’s gotten me into a state of mind that I just don’t think that going on a mission to kill would be something I could actually go through with,” He was still hiding something so I waited some more. He seemed to take the hint. “I just want to spend some time with this guy, Heero, I might not get this chance again.” That was it. The whole truth.
“You know if I hadn’t said I’d let you off earlier, I would have never accepted that as an excuse to back out of a direct order.”
“I know.”
“I don’t appreciate being lied to either.”
“I know.”
“He put you up to this didn’t he,” I was referring to whoever this mystery man was that was making Wufei act irresponsible. At this he simply nodded. “Good, then I shouldn’t expect this kind of display in the future.” Again he nodded. I turned back around and headed back into my room. What was happening to my team? I might have to move that search on homosexual relations up a couple of notches on my to do list, or maybe all romantic relationships were like this, making people act completely different from how they normally are. When I reentered I saw the condoms still on the floor. I plan I must of gotten from hanging out with Duo to often, came to mind. I reopened the door and told Wufei to stop. He was about to shut the door to his room (which is across from mine). I threw him the condoms, both boxes.
“I don’t want you going through my bag while I am away, so take these back for now.” His face was beginning to turn red.
“Hey, why did ya give him those!... hey are they his... Wu- bear are you cheating on me!!” Came Duo two cents to add to Wufei’s embarrassment. I smirked and shut the door on Wufei’s beet red face. I turned back to Duo who was looking at me for yet another explanation this time, for my past actions. At that point I was quite fed up with talking. I told him I’d explain later and left. After all, I still had a mission to plan.
5 hours later
“These are the people that you have requested to join you,” Said Mr. President, he pointed with his arm stretched out, to the four people sitting on his right. I was on his left. I nodded for him to continue. “They are the best I have to offer, but I’m sure you knew that already based on the information you found.” I did see the profiles of the people before me. All I could conclude was that it would have been better if we waited for my teammates to recover, instead of going with the people that were present before me.
“I do,” He seemed to be waiting for me to say more, they all seemed to. “I believe I can take it from here now, sir. If you could please excuse yourself so I may begin...”
“Oh, I was planning on sitting in on this mission.” I hate being interrupted.
“I’m sure you did but as a precaution I must insist that you leave. If information of this mission ever leaked it would be best if you truly had no knowledge of any of it’s details.” The smug smile that had been on his face a minute ago vanished. It did appear on the red - headed gentleman across from me.
“O.. Oh.. of course, how ignorant of me. Good luck to you then.” He slowly stood up and left the room.
“Wow! I’ve never seen anyone have that kind of affect on the Boss.” Said the dark haired girl next to the red head.
“Well, he is the Heero Yuy, leader of the best Squad in the agency.” Again, this was a girl. This one had blonde hair and glasses.
“ If he’s so great how did most of his team end up getting put out of commission right when Boss needs them the most?” The red head directly in front of me asked this. As it turns out most people in the agency don’t like me or the other guys, due to the fact that we are the top squad, but not because we are view as the best, but because we are all only fifteen years old and viewed as the best. Though I never figured out why people had a problem with my age; I just know they do.
“Perhaps if your ranking was a little higher he’s be able to share that kind of information with you.” The girl with the dark hair said. This was wonderful news to me. I would be working with not people who don’t have any real field experience, but with one that doesn’t like me , and two that seem to admire me too much. Not even a minute into this ‘meeting’ and there was already conflict. I wished Duo was down here.
“I’m sorry I didn’t know we were suppose to kiss the ass of the leader of the mission, but it looks like you’ve done enough of that to cover all of us.” The red - head had directed his comment to the dark haired one... Tanya.. I believe her profile said her name was, the red-haired one was... Alex.
“You want to come over here and say that!”
“And what, get knocked out by your boobs, no thank you.” I had to try really hard to not kill these morons. It was harder now, after having just gone through many ‘emotional’ discussions today already, to keep my own emotions in check. Yes, today had been a very long day and the last thing I wanted to do was deal with these brats. The thing is I had gotten absolutely no where in the mission except, depending on WHERE it is, I had a basic plan on how to go about extracting the President’s daughter. The plan utilizes the personal strengths of the four sitting in front of me.
“Why you little...!” The dark haired... I mean, Tanya, stood up at this point.
“All right, that’s quite enough, why don’t we get down to business here, or did you all forget why we’re here.” The blonde one, Cassandra, said.
“Speak for yourself, I didn’t forget!” Alex spat at the girl sitting next to him. He too was standing at this point. This would never end.
“Then could you please sit down. Now, does anyone have anything to say pertaining to how to go about stopping the man planning to kill and rape Mr. President's daughter?” I asked. Alex sat down, as did Tanya.
“Well, besides the obvious objective of killing our target, what did you have in mind, sir?” The one farthest down the table, asked. His hair was blonde and all over the place. If weren’t for the ‘sir’, I would have made him out to be just like the others. That, and the fact that he had asked an intelligent question.
“A method of entry and what happens there after can not be formulated until the location of that target is known.” There in lies the problem. You can’t plan how to go about something if you don’t know where it is you are going.
“ But the location is known.” Cassandra said. Well all my planning would have been a lot easier if I had had been told this before hand. Why hadn’t I been informed about this before hand.?
“Why wasn’t I informed of this earlier?”
“Hey, don’t look at us, we get the information the same way you do.” If you couldn’t tell from the dialect... that was Alex. Alex Edta, age: 17, height: 5’6, weight: 156, specializes in explosives and excels in mechanics (automotive and explosive). If he didn’t always talk back to his superiors, he might have been able to work his way up the ranks quite easily by now. Cassandra had leaned over the side of her chair while Alex had said this. When she straighten back up she had a folder in her hands. She set it down in front of me.
“The Boss gave this to us before you came in.” Was all she said. If he gave it to all of them, then why was she holding it? Why did she put it away, knowing I was coming in? Why did Mr. President give it to them, how long was it holding it, shouldn’t he have given it to me the second he got the information? Ever since we’ve arrived here our boss hasn’t been acting like himself, even before he received the news about his daughter. Something is going on here. But I don’t have the time to figure it out, but what I did know, was the Boss was acting like.. like he was hiding something. I shook my head of the thought (though I didn’t shake my head physically) and started looking through the file in front of me. It had everything. The targets location, maps, blueprints. A handwritten piece of paper that looked like a schedule of the Target’s coming and goings. There was a few sheets stapled together, filled with detail information about anything one would want to know about a man named Lavender Khushrenada. The Target’s name. Khushrenada, I’ve heard that name before. After realizing where the name had come from, I was even more confused. What are the odds that a man with the same last name as the target, would be visiting the Mr. President, around the same time his daughter gets kidnapped? Further more, what is such a man still doing here? And how was all this information so easily attained? But all these questions had to wait till later. According to the extremely detail blueprints which gave the schematics of not only the building that Khushrenada was in but also had mapped out the surrounding the area. This meant that plan ‘D’ would be most suitable for this type my location. Yes I label my plans. Even so, I had a gut feeling that something either big or horrible wrong was going to happen on this mission. Call it instinct or intuition or whatever, but something just seemed... wrong.
After rereading a few of the documents I voiced a question concerning the process taken to gain this information. Cassandra repeated the answer of it having been ‘the Boss’ that gave it to them. She didn’t know where the information came from before that. Looking to the others, it seemed that this was their reply as well. Cassandra Heartly, Age 22, height: 5’1, weight: 123, expert strategist and tactician, yet she a bit of a ‘push over’ according to many of her colleagues.
“Heero, I know the information seems a little too... precise, but there really isn’t anything else we have to go on and according to the timeline of his past victims, we don’t have enough time as it is, to second guess the authenticity of the information we’ve been given.” The blond male stated. I least I wasn’t the only one who thought this information was ‘flawed’. The kid’s name was Cole, though I probably shouldn’t call someone older than me a kid. Cole Diazo. Age: 19, Height: 5’11, weight: 153, an arms expert that specializes in negotiation.
“What do you mean ‘too precise’ the information Boss gave us is perfect.” Said Alex.
“Exactly, when was the last time you were given a mission containing ‘perfect’ information?” asked Cole to Alex. But Tanya cut in.
“What! Are you saying that you think this is a set - up or something?” Tanya asked. I was gazing through the documents again looking for something that would indicate how much time we had.
‘According to the timeline of his past victims, we’re running out of time as it is’.
I found what Cole was talking about. It seems that three days after the parents of the victims receive their ‘letters’ from Khushrenada, the body’s of their daughters would turn up. Some would be found back in their dorm rooms, one was found in her parents trash bin in their front yard. A time limit would help someone if they were expecting us. The more I thought it over the more of a trap this mission seemed to be. And to be set up in two missions in a row..., by why would the person setting it up use the cover of Mr. Presidents daughter. Who were they expecting would come and ‘rescue’ her, who was this trap for really?
“Hey, even if this thing is a set up, it’s not like we a choice on whether we can go or not.” It was the most remotely intelligent thing Alex had said all evening. He was right, even if it was a trap, it still directs orders from the boss to see this thing through. I quickly agreed and proceeded to tell to tell them exactly what they were going to do to need to do to get this mission complete.
Outside the Khushrenada building
“Everybody ready?” I asked as I looked over at my ‘team’.
“Yeah, this is gonna be a piece of crumb cake.” Alex said. He hopped off his bike and joined the circle the rest of us had made. I had decided it would be best to use the motorcycles (ones that make no noise obviously) for this mission. The quicker the vehicle went the better and I already volunteered to be the one to take Mr. President’s daughter on my motorcycle. It had taken all night to arrive here so it was now the morning of the third day since Mr. Presidents daughter had been taken. It was now or never.
“01, are you okay?” I looked over at Tanya as I was pulled out of my trance. I saw the same look of doubt that I had been feeling since we had arrived, in her eyes.
“Do any of her know her name?” It was one of the many questions that had been plaguing me since receiving this mission. I specifically recall Mr. President never saying his own daughter's name. But if this was really a trap... was Mr. President part of it? It was that thought that worried me the most. Especially since I had left my unarmed team back at that man’s house. I wanted to get this ‘mission’ over with as soon as possible.
“I didn’t even know he had a daughter before this mission.” Tanya said. I saw a realization hit Cole’s eyes.
“This really is set - up isn’t it?” He asked. But no one replied as an ear piercing scream was heard from inside the building before us.
“Guess we’re gonna find out.” After he said that, Alex , with Cole, started quickly moving toward the house. Tanya and I followed a few paces after. Cassandra was too stay behind and guard our escape route. Cole and Alex started moving to the front of the building while Tanya and I headed for the back. We reached the back and saw that the back door was open. Dread started to fill my veins. Something was very wrong here. Sure enough a loud alarm went off and gunfire could be heard back at the front of the house. Tanya and I instinctively ducked. I motioned for her to enter the house first. I kept my gun trained to the area surrounding her. She put her hand on the doorknob...
BOOM! She went flying back into me and the sounds of gunshots flew past my head. Tanya was screaming somewhere off to my right. I had to find cover and fast. I quickly got up and felt pain shoot though my shoulder. I gazed around for Tanya. She was on the ground screaming, her right hand had been completely blown off. I heard footsteps and saw six men exiting the house and coming towards us. It was then that I opened fire. I started making my way up the stairs to the back porch. I heard gun shots behind me and saw Alex approaching. He had received a shot to the chest but otherwise seemed all right. He was about to join me on the steps.
“Go take Big to Knighting Gale.” He stopped and looked behind him. He looked back at me once before heading back down to go get Tanya. I had cleared the entry way into the house but gunshots were still heard in the front of the house. Once I was in I saw I was in a hallway. Before me was a set of stairs, a door leading to the basement and to my right I had what looked to be a kitchen. I headed down to the basement, first. I tried the light switch on my way down and it failed to work. With my flashlight turned on, I headed down the stairs. I first saw nothing but boxes and things usually found in a basement and I thought of heading back upstairs. But I then saw a light. It was coming from the bottom of a door to my right. This was it. I quickly barged into the room.
There were monitors everywhere. In the center of the room was a man tied to a chair. He had long brown hair and was dressed in only simple, white boxers. He had a timer in his mouth. It read 20:19, 20:18, and so forth. I moved to the back of the man chair ready to untie him when he started making a huge fuss. One of the monitors turned on and there staring at me through the screen was Treize Khushrenada.
“Hello Heero, my boss has been quite please with your performance thus far. Though you have to admit you are at bit too predictable at times.” Treize said. My walkie talkie fizzed to life.
“01, this is Blitz, I found the girl, we should leave now, over.”
“Oh, and I wouldn’t be saving my brother it I were you. See if he gets off that chair it will only set off not only the bombs I placed there at the house but also the ones I set up back at the ‘White’ house. Now don’t worry the ones here won’t be affected by that little timer you see before you. No, I have another detonator for those ones.” Then he smiled. I looked sadly at the man I knew was going to die.
“Why are you doing this?” I asked.
“01, can you hear me, over?”
“Like I said, my boss if very please with your performance thus far. All of yours in fact, but he’s the most interested in you. Amazing. Maxwell received the same type of torture as you did back in Maine, yet he on bed rest and here you are trying to save the day again.”
“You set that up!”
“Oh please, like I would be involved in such a fiasco. The boss is quite sorry for that he hadn’t thought Diekim would go that far. He sends he apologies to Quatre the most.” I was getting more pissed by the second. What was going on here, why was this happening. I had no time to think on this. The timer now said 12:12, 12:11.
“01, where are you, over!?”
“I’ll be right out, get the others as far away from this place as you can, now, over.”
“01, Knighting Gale and Mouth are dead, what should I do, over!”
“Just get you and whose ever left out of here now, over and out!” The smile never left Treize’s face.
“Those kids are amateurs compared to our boys aren’t they?”
“Why are you doing this?”
“I already told you my boss...”
“But why them,” I pointed to my walkie talkie, “why him?” I pointed to the man in the chair who now had nine minutes and 23 seconds to live.
“Oh him, like I said before the man before you is my brother, Lavender Khushrenada. He’s been a very bad boy lately, kidnapping innocent girls for his own enjoyment. The boss thought it would the perfect time not only to punish him but to have me finally make contact with you. Of course he would like to meet with you and the others, someday soon, but I think we can agree that it’s safer for his sake if he remains unknown to you for now.” Remembering the other guys only made me panic more.
“What are you doing at the mansion?” I would never be able to warn the guys in time if he wasn’t lying about the timer. To never see them again... Duo.
“Having the grand five in person myself, I have to say, I have been very impressed at the way you all handle yourselves whenever you are faced with a problem. The way you all come together and help each other, even when your not on missions. Oh, and I am thoroughly enjoying watching your friends run around on the monitors I have set up here. They are all so beautiful. I going to enjoy playing with them, especially, Duo Maxwell, he seems to be quite the feisty young man.”
“Don’t you dare go near him!”
“I afraid that your words are a bit late, my dear, don’t worry, he’s still in one piece, He’s just been a little... frazzled. Now, instead of threatening me I believe it would be in everyone best interest if you made your little get away now. Oh, and don’t go to that little motel you were planned to met those kids at, if things had ended badly here. There won’t be much left of it now. You really shouldn’t be so predictable, Heero.”
“Blitz are you there, over... Blitz answer me, over!... Cole!”
“I afraid he can’t hear you, my dear. Now I must insist you move along, my boss won’t appreciate it you died now, it’s not part of the new plan, you see. Besides you don’t want to leave your friends with little old me do you.” I decided to ignore that lasted statement. With once last glance at the clock I ran as fast as I could out of the house. The words “It was nice talking with you.” trailing behind me. I now had four minutes and three seconds to get a far away as I could. I made it out of the house and bolted to where the motorcycles were. There I saw the dead bodies of Cassandra and Alex. As I hopped on the bike I briefly wondered who that woman was that Cole had rescued. Could it have been Mr. President’s daughter? For her sake I hope not. More, importantly I had to get back to the mansion, to Duo, that bastard better have been lying cause if he really laid a hand on Duo... I have to get out of here now. I started the bike up ... nothing... it wouldn’t start. Shit. I tried again. Again nothing. I tried a third time....
BOOOOOOMMMM!
