AC 206 September

It was actually a relief to get to Preventer Headquarters that day. Relena and the other girls were driving him mad with their plans for a joint birthday blowout for the children of the Gundam Vampires. It wouldn’t have been nearly so bad, if they didn’t keep contradicting each other. Hilde had cornered him with the request that he pick up a gross of multicolored balloons, but Relena insisted that all the balloons had to be pink and white. When he had made good his escape, there had been a sarcastically polite cat fight raging.

Making a mental note to speak to the fathers of the children in question tonight, Zechs turned his attention to the stack of mail piled neatly in order of importance on his desk blotter. On the very top was a plain white envelope with only his name stamped on it. Puzzled, he turned it over and blanched, the envelope was sealed with a blob of red wax embossed with a ‘T’.

“Treize.” Zechs breathed. ‘But that’s impossible, he’s been dead for years!’ With shaking hands, he tore open the missive and drew out the only item inside, a white rose petal. Zechs stared down at the fragile bit of plant and a wave of memory swept over him.

Something was tickling his nose, and he swatted at it; it didn’t help. Annoyed, Zechs opened his eyes to see what was bothering him and found himself staring up into a pair of laughing blue eyes. Treize smiled, and passed a white rose under Zechs nose again.

“About time you woke up.” He observed.

“You could have woke me up. How long have you been here?”

“Maybe ten minutes. The meeting ran late. And actually, I thought I just did wake you.” Treize whispered, as he dropped the rose and cupped Zechs face in his hands. The blonde sighed as soft pink lips closed on his own. The kiss was just a sweet brushing of lips that became a well of deeper delights, as their mouths opened in unison, and Trieze’s tongue dipped repeatedly into the honey of Zechs warmth.

He was mog byg by the time his lover broke the kiss and slipped a hand down to undo his shirt buttons. Pale hands shoved the halves of the fabric back exposing him to the cool air, his nipples hardened instantly. He whimpered, as strong teeth nipped their way down the column of his throat to tug gently at a small bud. Nuzzling his way to the other tempting bud, Trieze . . .

‘Buzz, buzz. Buzz, buzz’

The rude intrusion of the phone broke Zechs concentration. He looked at the ringing instrument and sadly whispered, “You could have let me love him again.” Then he picked up the phone, “Preventer Wind here.”

Sally glared at Cathy. “We are not going to do it, and that’s final!”

“But, Sally! I can get the circus for nothing! They’ll be happy to do it!” Cathy protested. Sally rolled her eyes toward heaven and sighed, she could feel a Wufei coming on, and she stomped down hard on the inclination to imitate Deishi’s father. She’d try sweet reason first.

“Cathy, dear. First - the babies are only a year old! They will not enjoy a circus! Second – just where would we put it. I can’t see Relena agreeing to using the Palace grounds.”

“But, she did!” Cathy interrupted, “ In fact, she’s the one who suggested I invite the circus in the first place. I wouldn’t have said anything, if she hadn’t agreed.” She smiled happily, “Besides, we don’t need to take the babies, the guests and visitors will be the ones enjoying the shows! So, see you don’t have anything to worry about.”

Sally threw up her hands. “I give up!” She announced to the room. Dorothy, Hilde and Relena turned to look at her from where they were arguing over table spreads; should they be cloth or vinyl?

“Give up what?” Hilde asked in bewilderment.

“I thought. Now, feel free to correct me, if I’m wrong! But, I thought this was just supposed to be a gathering of our friends to help us celebrate.”

“That’s right.” Dorothy agreed.

“Then, why,” Sally asked dryly, “Does the invitation list name half the people in the SOLAR SYSTEM!”

“We didn’t want to miss anyone.” Relena replied, turning back to Hilde and Dorothy “Now about these table clothes.”

“I need an aspirin.” Sally moaned.

Zechs spent the day trying to find someone, who had seen who put that accursed enve on on his desk. He couldn’t find a soul who could shed any light on the mystery. Penny, his aide swore it was on the desk when she brought in the mail that morning, she’d had thought it was a note from one of the other Preventers.

He finally asked Security to keep a closer eye on his office, until they got to the bottom of the matter. Then, he left and went for a drive to clear his head. Fifteen minutes out of the city, he turned toward the cliffs. Another twenty minutes brought him to the overlook locally known as “Lover’s leap.” It had been a favorite place for him and Trieze to meet. He parked his ice blue roadster and got out. Leaning against the car, he stared out at the sun setting over the sea. With the wind blowing through his long hair, he pondered two questions. Who else knew their meeting signal? And why were they using it now?

In the back bedroom of a small house hidden by taller decaying buildings, a coffin lid slowly opened, and a figure from the past emerged. He had come to retrieve something that belonged to him and he wasn’t leaving until he got it.

A sensual smile crossed his pale lips as he prepared to go out. “Soon, my white rose.” he murmured.. ‘We’ll be together for eternity.” Opening the window, he flowed into the shadows.

“Duo! Will you and Wufei get your asses out here!” Heero demanded, he was hungry and wanted to get on with the hunt. Quatre and Trowa had already headed out, they’d have to hurry if they were going to catch up with them. Heero pounded on the coffin lid again. This time he got a response.

.
The lid of the coffin swung open, and two smirking vampires stared up at him. Wufei had Duo under him, his left leg between Duo’s thighs.

“Did you want something, koi”” Duo panted, as he arched his back, trying to rub his erection against Wufei’s. The Chinese put a hand against his chest and shoved him back down. Duo whimpered in frustration, then gasped as Wu delicately took the head of his organ between two fingers and played with it.

As he continued to torture Duo, Wufei stared at Heero, his smirk fading and a frown forming. “What do you want, Heero?” Heero was staring down at Duo, drinking in the sight of his beautiful koi; naked and writhing with passion. He could feel his shaft hardening. Reluctantly, he dragged his eyes away from the tantalizing sight, and focused on the dark one.

“Are you going to join, Trowa, Q and I during this hunt, or are the two of you going on your own?” He asked, shifting his stance to relieve his aching member.

“Hmm,” Wufei murmured, as Duo’s arms wrapped around his neck, the braided vampire moaning, as Wufei’s cock disappeared between white cheeks and drove into the willing boy. A bit breathlessly, Wu gasped, “On our own.” Then he collapsed onto Duo, and the lid slammed down after him.

“Hn.”

Whirling, Heero stalked out of the crypt. Hunting would have to wait; he definitely needed to do something about his tight pants. Hopefully, Trowa and Quatre weren’t TOO far ahead of him.

Zechs sighed; he’d been leaning on the overlook’s wall for over an hour and he was no closer to an answer for the day’s events, than when he started. The twilight sky was deepening rapidly into a midnight black and the stars were glittering strangely, as though they were trying to convey some urgent message.

If they were, he wasn’t getting it. Dismissing the stars, he pushed away from the wall, and turned to leave. He had to get back to the palace and speak to the pilots, yee wae was very reluctant to leave the serenity of the cliffs and the memories they invoked. Slowly, he opened the driver’s door, then shut it. Not really understanding, why he did it, he went around the car and sat down in the passenger’s seat – and waited.

Far below in the city, a ginger-haired man raised his head to the stars and smiled. “Patience my rose, I’m coming.”

His smile grew wider, as he felt a gun poke into his side, and a harsh whiskey laden voice growled, “Gimme your money, friend, and I’ll let you live.” The mugger stared in horror, as the man he’d accosted was suddenly behind him, and a low cultured voiced purred, “That is most generous of you, but I’m afraid that the living part doesn’t apply to me anymore.” He started to scream, but it was cut off wa sta strong hand wrenched his head sideways and the last thing the thief felt was a sharp tearing at his throat.

Hoisting his victim in his arms, the vampire carried the corpse to the greasy dumpster behind a seedy little bar. Casually, he dropped it in among the debris, before closing the lid. Humming a tune, he brushed together his hands and pulling on a pair of white gloves, he straightened his jacket. Now, he had one final thing to do, then he could go visit the old friend that was waiting for him.

Using his supernatural speed, he was soon standing outside the door of a little florist’s shop. He pushed the door opened, and strolled slowly among the displays of ferns, daisies, tulips, vases and other items. He nodded politely to couple of older ladies, who stared suspiciously at him, before returning to their debate over the color of the asters they wanted for their dining room table. He laughed softy, amused, before heading to the counter at the back of the shop.

“Can I help you, sir?’ The boy behind the counter smiled a lop-side grin at the smartly dressed man, who approached him. The man stared at the boy. The youth couldn’t be older than seventeen, and he had black hair and large black eyes, and healthy bronze skin. If it wasn’t for the fact, the boy was obviously Western, and not Oriental, he could have sworn he was looking at the brave little dragon that he had loved to duel with.

“Wufei.” he breathed, a red light gleaming for a second in his eyes..

“Uh, mister?” His words broke the illusion. “Sorry, for a moment there, you reminded me of an old friend, I haven’t seen in awhile” Trieze smiled, reassuringly at the nervous teen. “Do you have any white rose buds?”

“Yes, sir!” the youth answered “How many would you like?”

“Just one, as perfect as you have.”

The boy wheeled and headed to the back room, where the flowers were stored in big refrigerators. He threw open a fridge door and fumbled among the blooms, until he found the white buds, and pulled the largest, whitest one out. Snatching a couple of springs of baby’s breath, he closed the door and hurried back to the counter.

The man wasn’t standing there, but was a few feet away looking at their selection of cards. Quickly, he slid the rose and baby’s breath sprigs into a cellophane sheath, then he tore a square of green florist paper from the big roll at the end of the counter. He was just beginning to secure it when . . .

“Please include this.”

“Eep!.” The youth jumped, as the man held out one of the tiny cards. How had he snuck up on him like that? “Yes, sir!” Clumsily, he stuffed the card down into the packet, and then taped it down. Ringing up the items, the boy whispered, “That’ll be four seventy-five.”

Treize pulled out his wallet and extracted a fifty. “I don’t have anything smaller, so just keep the change.” Handing it to the boy, he picked up his purchase, and left, leaving the occupants of the shop to stare after him. Johnny Pane shivered, as the door closed; the bill still clutched tightly in his hand. Despite being well dressed and polite, there was something strange about that man. Then it hit him. Despite passing by several glass windows, the man had no reflection! Suddenly, he was very afraid.

The human wasn’t the only one staring at Trieze, like they had seen a ghost. A pair of onyx eyes blazed in the alley across from the shop. When the former Oz commander disappeared down the street. Wufei stepped out of the alley, a deep frown between his brows.

“Trieze.” he whispered.
