Teddy Bear
Warnings: For this part none except Chibi pilots, Trowa with a lisp and the general mayhem five
eight-year-old boys can cause^_^. And I wasn\'t going to post this originally due to high quantities of fluff but I decided to anyway.
Credits: Inspired by the picture \"Bribing Kisses\" by Fablespinner.
Pity: For Neri who had to read this with the screwy {th} thingee.
And K for having to wait for me to actually get my crap together and finish this.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
\"Can we go now mom?!\" Trowa pleaded. \"It\'th time to leave now ithn\'t it? I already waited thoooooo long.\" [1] The boy spread his arms wide to illustrate his point as his mother rolled her eyes. The eight-year-old boy was tall for his age and gangly. He had sharp green eyes one of which that was hidden by the unusual fall of hair he called bangs.
\"Trowa honey, it\'s only been fifteen minutes since you asked me last time. No we can\'t leave yet. The slumber party doesn\'t start until seven. It\'s five th rig right now. You haven\'t even eaten yet sweetheart. You need to have your supper and get cleaned up before you go.\" Trowa\'s mother replied ruffling the impatient boy\'s hair.
\"But I want to give Quatre his present!!\" Trowa wailed. He was so excited about the present he had found with his mom. It was a teddy bear with a blue ribbon. The teddy bear actually looked like it was smiling. Trowa liked it because it had a happy face like Quatre. The blue ribbon was good too because Quatre liked blue.
\"I know peanut but you\'ll have to wait a little longer. Don\'t worry, even if you have to wait, Quatre will still like your present a lot.\" Trowa\'s mother replied. To be honest Monique was at her wit\'s end on the subject of the present. Trowa had been obsessed with it since they had seen it. It was a very cute bear and all but for the life of her she couldn\'t figure out why Trowa was so determined that it was the perfect present for Quatre.
\"OK I guess.\" Trowa sighed letting his lower lip stick out a little.
\"Trowa is just excited Monique. It\'s his first sleep over and his best friend\'s birthday.\" David said as he pulled out a cutting board to start chopping vegetables for dinner.
\"I know but if someone asks me how much longer one more time I\'ll dunk their head in the pond.\" Monique declared grabbing her son around the waist and flipping him so he was upside down.
\"Awww Mom you say that all the time and you never do it.\" Trowa stated matter of factly arms crossing over his chest.
\"We\'ll see about that.\" Monique decreed and proceeded to walk outside with her still upside down son out into their backyard towards a fishpond.
\"OKOKOKOK!! Mom I swear I won\'t ask any more!\" Trowa screeched.
\"And you\'ll behave yourself tonight. No trouble making, even if it\'s Duo\'s idea.\" Monique said still walking towards the pond.
\"Yeah I swear. Cross my heart mom.\" Trowa said flailing.
\"And you\'ll wash your hands and face before bed and brush your teeth.\" Monique said wading into the water a little.
\"Uh-huh. Pinky swear!\" Trowa said holding his hand out in pinkyswear offering.
\"Good boy.\" Monique said returning to dry land and flipping her son right side up. She put him firmly on the ground.
\"Mom.....\" Trowa began hedging away from his mother.
\"Yes Hon?\" Monique asked smoothing out her T-shirt.
\"How long\'ll supper take.\" Trowa said then bolted. He and his mom always played like this. He\'d bug her until she\'d do something really funny. Like fold him up in the fold out couch [2]. Monique chased her son down until she ran out of energy.
\"Hey you two. Get back inside and clean up for dinner.\" David called out the back door.
\"OK Steppy we\'re coming.\" Trowa called as he bound back towards the house. Trowa had started calling David \'Ste' si' since he and Monique had married last September. Trowa understood David wasn\'t his father but rather his stepfather, so \'Steppy\' it was rather than Daddy. The two were similar to the point were they could have been father and son but not in outward
appearance. Trowa and David were both quiet for the most part. Unwilling to volunteer information. They were both natural wallflowers and enjoyed animals over people. David was a zoologist and had been in the field studying for the past 6 years. He had stopped when they had agreed to get married. The reason Trowa probably liked him so much was that David never
pestered him to talk or tried to cajole answers from him. David for the most part treated him like he was perfectly adult. Trowa responded to that best.
\"So whatcha making?\" Trowa asked as he stepped up to the counter and stared critically at David\'s handy work with the carrots.
\"Roasted chicken breast, steamed rice and steamed vegetables.\" David said happily.
\"As long as it\'s not liver.\" Trowa saidckincking his tongue out and scrunching his face.
\"Hey! Have more faith in me. I\'d never do that to you.\" David stated. \"Liver is gross!\"
\"You made me eat brussel sprouts.\" Trowa said crossing his arms \"I don\'t know if I can trust you any more.\"
\"It was a one time thing I swear.\" David forced out as he nearly snickered himself to death. \"Besides if you didn\'t eat it and your mom found it in the garbage we both would have been shnicket.\" David stated as he drew his finger from one side of his neck to the other.
\"We could have thrown it in the outside garbage.\" Trowa pointed out.
\"You know your mom better than that bud. She would have checked. She\'s too smart for us.\" David said winking.
\"I still say I can\'t trust you.\" Trowa maintained standing imperiously with his arms still folded across his chest.
\"Oh well I guess you\'ll just have to deal with it then.\" David replied \"Wash up then set the table Kay kiddo?\"
\"OK. Then we can go to Quatre\'s right?\" Trowa asked David in a whisper.
\"Yeah. After you eat and pack.\" David replied whispering as well.
\"I\'ll go pack now!!\" Trowa began
\"No way buster. You clean up and set the table. We\'ll have dinner then it\'ll be time for you to get ready to go.\" Monique stated snagging the back of Trowa\'s jeans. \"Hup to it mister.\"
\"OK.\" Trowa said sullenly walking balefully from the room.
\"I\'m going absoluteattyatty.\" Monique said grabbing handfuls of her hair and pulling in opposite directions. \" I don\'t understand his obsession with this party.\"
\"Moni, you\'ve said yourself that the only people Trowa really seems comfortable around aside from his family are those four boys. Quatre most of all. Quatre is so special to him it\'s enough to make a persons heart ache. I don\'t know what would happen if they were separated. It\'s kind of scary to think about.\" David said sighing. It was funny really how fast they had turned into a family. Catherine and Trowa were in David\'s mind his children if not in the biological
sense but in every other.
\"I know. It\'s just that there are times when I think that Trowa needs other friends too. The problem is that\'s just not his way. He has a few very special friends and that\'s it. The rest of the kids seem almost afraid of him.\" Monique mussed \"Catherine is like the polar opposite. She\'s a social butterfly at 13. She\'s has more friends than phone numbers can fit onto a sheet of paper.\"
\"Relax Moni. Kids do things their own way sometimes you just have understand that will one day be people and have their own personalities. You just have to accept the fact that our kids are slowly turning into people. And you really have no control over that one hon.\" David replied.
\"I know I just want to know how they turned out so different. I\'m worried that there could be something wrong with Trowa. I don\'t want him to be lonely because I couldn\'t teach him how to make friends.\" Monique whispered.
\"Now you\'re being paranoid.\" David replied blandly. \"There is nothing wrong with Trowa. He\'s bright, sweet tempered and loves his family. He\'s just very shy. He might grow out of it he might not. Or he might just be a private person Moni. Don\'t worry. Worry when he\'s fourteen and wants to dye his hair purple and pierce odd parts of his body.\"
\"Don\'t say that.\" Monique groaned. \"Catherine and I are still fighting over the second holes in her ears. Why people think it looks nice to put holes in cartilage I\'ll never understand.\"
\"She\'s attempting to rebel. If it\'s holes in cartilage she wants I don\'t think that\'s so bad. It
could be much worse.\" David said and leaned over to give his wife a soft kiss.
\"Mom, steppy I have a question.\" Trowa said from the doorway.
\"Yeah kiddo?\" Monique queried.
\"Why do people kiss?\" Trowa asked tilting his head to the side. \"I mean lots of people do it but isn\'t it kinda gross? Couldn\'t someone have like spit on their lips or something?\"
\"Well ah how do I answer this one?\" David asked looking at Monique who shrugged.
\"Trowa honey kissing is sort of like hugging. When you love somebody or they\'re very special to you. You want to show them, so a lot of people kiss the people they love. David and I kiss because we love each other. The same thing with other people.\" Monique
attempted to explain.
\"Oh OK. So you kiss someone cause you love them or they\'re special.\" Trowa said blinking owlishly.
\"Yes. That\'s about right. It will make more sense when you\'re old" Da" David said.
\"That\'s what you say when anything is stupid or doesn\'t make sense. I don\'t think it will make sense when I\'m older you\'re just trying to make stuff up.\" Trowa stated triumphantly.
\"You\'ll just have to wait and see if I\'m right and if I\'m not you come and tell me OK?\" David said.
\"You better believe it mister.\" Trowa replied jabbing the air with his forefinger sounding so much like his mother David couldn\'t help but break down into hysterics.
\"Mom, steppy is weird.\" Trowa replied.
\"I think so too.\" Monique replied as David continued to cackle on the kitchen floor.
[1] Trowa has a lisp so he says {s} as {th}. I had the entire chapter like this but I decided to put the {s} back in just go with the idea Trowa has a lisp.

[2] Don\'t laugh, my sister and cousin did it to me:p
