“What do you mean you won’t talk to him?” asked Quatra.
Duo just stood in from of him and didn’t answer. He couldn’t say it.
Quatra just looked at him for a while, taking in the changes in Duo. He had grown facial hair in a fashionable goatee. He had grown older, they all had, but he was still the same Duo with the long planted hair.
“Come on, Duo. You know you want to. You know you can’t fool me,” said Quatra putting his hand on his heart.
“No! I am not like that anymore,” said Duo in a frustrated voice.
“Duo…we all know that you were married and had a kid, but they are gone now. It’s time to move on. You are gay and always have been. Don’t try to fool me.”
“No, I am not, so leave me alone Quatra,” said Duo sadly as he left the room, not wanting to discuss it further.
With that Quatra left. He knew that deep down Duo was gay and he knew whom his heart longed for. Duo was just repressing his feelings, not wanting to get hurt again.
“You have to see him…He wants you…he loves you. I know it.”
Heero looked at Quatra. Quatra had come straight from Duo’s place and was now trying to get Heero to go see him.
“But you said he told you he didn’t want to talk to me. So what am I suppose to do?”
“Do whatever your heart tells you. It will lead you in the right direction.”
Heero stared down at the directions that Quatra had left him. He didn’t know exactly what he was going to do yet, but he hoped Quatra was right. He put the directions in his pocket after he made sure that he was at the right place and knocked on the door, but there was no answer. Duo had to be home because Quatra had only left him ten minutes ago. Heero opened the door and stepped inside. He wanted to make sure Duo was all right.
It was dark in the room. There was no light outside because it was already dusk when he got there. Heero walked towards a doorway. Instinctively hearing noise coming from the room and knowing it was from Duo. When Heero was only a foot from the doorway, Duo appeared in the dark on the other side.
They stared at each other for a few seconds. Duo’s expression was unreadable, but Heero was looking at Duo in admiration. Heero had not seen Duo for a long time and now he saw how beautiful Duo had become. He noticed that both of them had gained some height and that Duo only stood about an inch taller than himself at Five-ten.
Before Heero could think he reached out and put a hand behind Duo’s head, trying to bring him in closer to give him a kiss, but Duo wouldn’t budge. He held back and looked at Heero in confusion. Heero tried again and Duo finally let himself be pulled toward Heero.
At the first contact of lips Duo didn’t respond. Heero was pushed on even more by the feel of tingly hair combined with smooth lips and a desire to be with the person he loved. Heero poured his heart out into the kiss, trying to make those lips move and finally succeeded. Duo’s lips were timid at first and then moved with more certainty against Heero’s. Duo’s hands came up to Heero’s neck as the kiss deepened. Heero slipped his tongue into Duo’s mouth, savoring the taste of him. Duo in turn fought back with his tongue. Neither of them could have told you which one moaned.
The kiss broke, as violet looked into cobalt and breath mingled. Duo was the first to break away. Heero’s hand came down from its place at the back of Duo’s neck. Duo grabbed Heero’s hand and lead him into the room. The room was dark, just like the rest of the house. But Heero could see the bed in the middle of the room, against the wall. Light from the moon outlined it in a silvery gloom. The only thing Heero could think about was how beautiful Duo looked in the moonlight.
The Sun rose slowly in the morning sky. Heero looked at the figure lying next to him. The Sun cast yellow light onto chestnut brown hair, causing it to light up with reds and gold’s. Heero caught his breath for the hundredth time while looking at his new lover, his new koi. It had been a long night full of love, fear, and promises. He did not want to go to sleep for fear that all that had been said and done would be a dream. Quatra was right; his heart had led him in the right direction. He was home.
“I love you,” whispered Heero as he brushed a clump of hair out of his loves sleeping face.
Duo snuggled closer to Heero. Heero smiled and slowly drifted into a peaceful sleep. One filled with memories and hopes for the future.
