The Bonny Swan
A farmer lived in the far North Country. Not just any farmer but a king of all the surrounding land. The farmer had children one two three. He had a daughter and two sons. The Daughters name was Relena. The eldest sons name was Quatra and the youngest son was named Duo.
In the North Country it was customary to betroth the youngest child too a neighboring country. So Duo was betrothed to Prince Heero of the War country and Princess Hilde of the Lake country at birth. To bring peace to the countries the children would be wed upon Duo’s sixteenth birthday. Everyone was in an agreement to this, but unbeknown to King Zechs Relena was jealous of the betrothal.
“Come on Duo it’s not mush farther,” a ten year old Relena led a four year old Duo along the banks of the swan river. Seven year old Quatra had to stay at home today and study with the magnacorp it was his destiny to be one of them one day, so the leader of the corp. came to the castle twice a week to work on weapon training with the young boys as well as to teach Quatra the history of the unit. Today was the day that history was taught, which excluded Duo as he was too young. So Relena volunteered to take Duo out of everyone’s hair for the day. “Are we dare yet sissy” Duo asked looking around the banks of the river playing with the gold band that signified the betrothal between him and the War Country children.
Relena noticing the ring with the blue colored stone that matched Duos eyes almost perfect. “Duo may I see your ring.’’
Duo looks at the ring that hangs around his neck and his sister, before removing said object and handing it to his sister. Relena took the necklace and casting it in to the river.
“Why did you do that? That wasn’t nice.” Duo said angrily as he leaned out over the river. “Opps” Relena exclaimed as she pushed Duo into the river
“Oh sister oh sister pray lend me your hand and I’ll give handsome land” Duo called out desperately to Relena on the bank as he tried to keep his head above water and not be swept down the river.
“I’ll give you neither hand nor glove lest you give me your own true love.” Relena called out to Duo as he floated down the river. Then she went to the rivers edge and tore her dress smeared mud on her face and front and caught twigs in her fine hair.
Meanwhile in the palace where Quatra was studding the young blond screamed in fear and then fainted calling Duos name.
